  • Patent number: 6456621
Abstract: Disclosed is a migration communication control device constructed to control a continuous communication between a mobile node and a node unaffected the mobile node's migration. The migration communication control device comprises a first migration control unit, a second migration control unit on the mobile node, and a third migration control unit on the partner node. The first migration control unit comprises a packet transfer unit and an address post unit. The packet transfer unit receives a packet which was destined for an outdated address of the mobile node, generates a conversion packet which holds an updated address instead of the outdated address, and then transmits the conversion packet, while an address post unit transmits an address post message which indicates the updated address to the third migration control unit. The second migration control unit comprises a migration post unit and a packet resumption unit.

  • Patent number: 6452943
Abstract: A video server system includes a transmitter for cyclically transmitting predetermined amounts of video data that have been read from a magnetic disc drive apparatus and a receiver for receiving and reproducing the video data. A control data transmitting unit of the receiver monitors a reception buffer that temporarily stores video data. On judging that an overflow or an underflow may occur in the reception buffer during the reception of video data, the control data transmitting unit generates control data indicative of the buffer state and transmits the control data to the transmitter. A transmission cycle adjusting unit of the transmitter adjusts a cycle for transmitting predetermined amounts of video data in accordance with the control data.

  • Patent number: 6447653
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for shaping a mask to reduce coating non-uniformity in the radial direction. A test run of the ion beam sputtering system coats a stationary glass plate having the same area and shape as the platen. The resulting coating thickness is measured across the surface of the glass plate and plotted as a function of position. This is the plot of the flux distribution. The coating rate pattern is determined by coating thickness by coating time. The desired width of the mask, which takes the form of a segment of a radial band is adjusted to obtain the desired average coating rate for the entire segment, masked and unmasked. This is repeated for each radial band. All these radial widths put together design the functional form of the mask, the use of which provides a uniform coating of the platen in a radial direction.

  • Patent number: 6445455
Abstract: A phase and intensity modulated IFOG has a light source responsive to an intensity modulation signal for providing an intensity modulated light signal. A Sagnac interferometer has a fiber optic coil. The coil receives and circulates a clockwise and counter-clockwise beams. The Sagnac interferometer is responsive to an intensity modulated light signal at a first input port, and to a phase modulation signal at a phase modulation input terminal for outputting a non-reciprocal interference signal. A PSD detector system responds to the non-reciprocal interference signal and provides a demodulated bias signal. An intensity signal generator has an output that provides the intensity modulation signal. A phase signal generator provides the phase modulation signal to the phase modulation input terminal. The intensity signal generator and the phase signal generator have a common frequency.

  • Patent number: 6446262
Abstract: A method and apparatus for broadcasting a scheduled interactive application to a plurality of users via respective user interfaces. Initially, setup data is placed on a broadcast carousel prior to a scheduled start time of the interactive application whereby setup data is repeatedly broadcast to the user interfaces. A status flag is broadcast to the user interfaces to indicate that the setup data has been placed on the broadcast carousel. Real time data is broadcast to the user interfaces at the scheduled start time. Electronic programme guide (EPG) data indicating a scheduled start time for the scheduled interactive application is further broadcast to the user interfaces.

  • Patent number: 6438288
Abstract: A tunable optical filter system receives an optical signal, from an optical fiber. A predetermined wavelength is to be selected from the optical signal. The filter has a first and second aligned collimating lens, each lens having a mirrored surface separated by a gap. The first collimating lens collimates the light beam and outputs a collimated output beam via the its mirrored output surface to the opposing mirrored surface. A diaphragm coupled to a frame has a pair of piezo elements position the diaphragm to adjust the gap to select a predetermined wavelength signal from the collimated beam. A coupler samples a portion of the beam for a servo that responds to an input signal that identifies the wavelength to be selected. The servo provides a pathlength control signal to the piezo elements to coarse select the predetermined wavelength signal from the collimated output beam.
