Abstract: A new and useful pigment is prepared by reacting an inorganic silicofluoride and an inorganic calcium compound selected from the group consisting of calcium oxide, calcium hydroxide and calcium carbonate. The product is especially useful in protective coating compositions which are applied to metals in order to enhance adherence to and corrosion resistance of metals such as aluminum, zinc, magnesium, steel and alloys of said metals.

Abstract: Hydrogen-containing gas mixtures including saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon gases, carbon monoxide and organic sulfur contaminants are purified by passing them over a hydrogenation catalyst containing phosphorus with the addition of predetermined limited amounts of water. The process makes it possible to produce hydrogen-containing gases which can be used for hydrogenation processes with the elimination or reduction of carbon monoxide, olefins and organic sulfur, all brought about simultaneously by passing the gas mixture over the same catalyst and in the same reactor.

Abstract: A platform type weighing scale is provided having a horizontally disposed base, a vertically disposed column mounted on an extension of said base with a hollow base portion in said column and a load beam mounted in said hollow base portion connected through a lever to a weighing mechanism beneath said platform, said load beam having one or more electrical strain gauges mounted thereon which are connected to a read-out meter mounted on said column to show measurements in units of weight. The housing for the read-out meter is preferably adapted to rotate horizontally or to tilt from the vertical or both and can also be removed so as to provide a number of options including a high level scale, a waist high personal scale, or a desk top or wall mounted remote unit.

After fermenting a major portion of fermentable ingredients, there is added to the resulting alcoholic wort a quantity of one or more readily fermentable sugars and fermentation is continued until the real degree of fermentation is at least 80%. By this process a low calorie beer can be prepared without the use of a carbohydrate splitting enzyme such as amyloglucosidase.

The filtrate is concentrated and cooled and crude thymosin is precipitated by adding the concentrate to acetone.
