  • Patent number: 4073563
Abstract: The invention provides a modular structure for electrical connections with an integral molded frame wherein a forward portion of the frame has holes to receive electrical conductors and a rearward portion carries one or more electrical contact assemblies, said frame being adapted to fit into the rear of a panel, with or without elimination of screws previously used for panel mounting, and with the elimination of separate sleeves that have to be brazed on the jack frame, thereby reducing manual operations and simplifying manufacture while providing versatile modular components especially useful in telephone switchboards and apparatus, multiplex and microwave systems, television and broadcast equipment and other control panel applications where small size and reliability are prime engineering and operating parameters. Other features are the provision of a new extruded panel, and the provision of a special type of jack sleeve made from a wrapped up stamping.

  • Patent number: 4066572
Abstract: A novel phospha-alumina gel having a large average pore diameter and a characteristic pore volume distribution is prepared by co-precipitation of aluminum and phosphorus compounds. The gel is then dried, formed and calcined to give a material having a large average pore diameter of at least 100 A and a characteristic pore volume distribution with a minimum number of small pores, such that less than 30% of the total pore volume is in pores smaller than 100 A in diameter. Such material is especially useful as a catalyst or as a catalyst support.

  • Patent number: 4051065
Abstract: Water soluble vinyl addition polymers and gums are rapidly dissolved in water by first dispersing these polymers or gums into a water-in-oil emulsion, then mixing the water-in-oil emulsion with water, preferably in the presence of a surfactant, and inverting the emulsion by passing a confined stream of the resultant mixture in a tortuous path to produce turbulence so that the water soluble addition polymer or gum is released into the water as a solution.

  • Patent number: 4036224
Abstract: A portable conditioned air breathing pipe is provided in which a heat conductive tube having a burner or other suitable heating means therein is mounted in the pipe bowl in sealed relationship with a surrounding chamber which is connected through a tubular casing to a mouthpiece and fresh air is introduced into the surrounding chamber and heated so that heated air can be withdrawn through the mouthpiece to the mouth of the user. According to preferred embodiments, the outer surface of the heat conductive tube is provided with heat exchange fins, the interior of the heat exchange tube is provided with a heat economizer, the tubular casing is provided with a damper to admit cooler air and a filter is provided in the tubular casing between the heating chamber and the mouthpiece.

  • Patent number: 4034117
Abstract: Partially dried forage crops such as perennial grasses and partially dehydrated alfalfa containing at least 10% moisture are treated with sodium diacetate and stored in the form of bales or other consolidated form using a sufficient amount of sodium diacetate to reduce the rise in temperature which normally occurs on storage under such conditions while simultaneously inhibiting mold growth. The resultant products are especially useful in feeding beef and dairy cattle and other ruminants.

  • Patent number: 4022015
Abstract: The invention provides a time indicating device which contains an endless indicating belt carrying indicating means thereon that define three or more equally spaced segments of said belt, the belt passing beneath a face plate with an elongated opening therein mounted adjacent the belt so that from time to time said indicating means carried by said belt are visible through said opening, the length of said opening substantially corresponding to the length of one of said segments so that when said belt is moved past said opening there will be a moment when one of said segments will appear over the entire length of said opening. The device is especially useful in clocks where a plurality of belts are employed which are driven at different speeds to indicate seconds, minutes, hours or, if desired, additional belts can be used to indicate days, weeks, months or other time periods.
