Abstract: A shaker type reclosable dispensing carton which includes an intermediate top closure flap having poring holes located in a depressible portion of the flap which can be depressed into the plane of an underlying flap, when the carton is reclosed, to allow a hinged outer closure flap pull-up portion to be depressed into the plane of the intermediate flap to effect a friction type locking closure between the intermediate and outer closure flaps.

Abstract: A three piece, non-glued, triangular paperboard carton for use in the packaging of retail products such as candy and perfumes. The carton has a central, hollow, tubular body with open ends that closed by a pair of similar top and bottom end caps, one of which has interlocking engagement with the body.

Abstract: A device and method for measuring the force or pressure required to break a score and bend a sheet of paperboard along a pre-formed score line. The device includes means for clamping one portion of the sheet between a pair of stationary plates, with another portion of the sheet extending beyond the plates, and a moveable plate co-planar with, but spaced a short distance from, one of the stationary plates and engageable with the other portion of the sheet. The device includes a mechanism for moving the moveable plate out of the plane of one of the stationary plates, to break the score and bend the sheet at the score line, and a gauge for measuring the force required to bend the paperboard sheet at the score line.

Abstract: An improved method of preventing cohesion between plastic coated, paperboard, folding carton blanks after they come off a die cutter or cutting section of a press. The method comprises providing different scoring patterns for the carton blanks of alternate rows as the cartons are formed, which results in the creation of air spaces between adjacent cartons to prevent them from sticking to each other.

Abstract: A carton with an opening feature that includes a securing flap having a detachable center portion foldably joined to a detachable section of a top wall panel and being congruent with and adhesively secured to a detachable portion of the carton front wall panel, whereby the securing flap and carton front wall detachable portions can be pushed into the carton and then lifted to open the carton by separating the top wall center portion from the remainder of the carton top wall.

Abstract: A one-piece, collapsible, tray type, paperboard container with one or more truncated corners, each of which includes a pair of vertical side walls, with adjacent ends spaced from each other and interconnected by a three-piece gusset. The gusset includes first and second sections, foldably joined to each of the side walls, and a corner section, foldably joined to each side section. The corner section is folded in face-to-face relation with one of the side sections and positioned against an inner surface of one of side walls in interlocking engagement therewith.

The container includes a pair of hingedly interconnected tray and cover members, each having a pair of side wall panels, and a pair of closure flaps with side portions that overlap the ends of the cover side wall panels to maintain them in place against the outer surfaces of the tray side wall panels when the container is in a closed condition.

Abstract: A hypodermic syringe needle sheath holder, designed to prevent accidental pricking by a needle. The device can be operated with one hand and includes a housing with a sheath gripping mechanism mounted under the housing upper wall. The mechanism comprises a plurality of gripper blades pivotally mounted for movement between gripping and release positions, actuating means normally biasing the blades to gripping position, and release means for overcoming the actuating means to permit the insertion and withdrawal of a sheath therefrom.

Abstract: An anchoring arrangement for lawn edging material of the type used for defining borders of lawns and gardens. The edging material is formed of a resilient, extruded, molded plastic material and includes a relatively thin vertical wall member, which preferably has a retaining flange projecting laterally outward from a lower end thereof. The primary feature of the invention is the provision of hollow tubes that extend through the edging material and are adapted to hold plant seeds until they germinate and mature, so that the roots of the plants will anchor the material in place in the ground.

Abstract: A composite shipping container for packaging, heavy articles and appliances such kitchen ranges. The package includes upper and lower structures interconnected by hollow corner posts and wrapped with plastic film and strapping. The lower structure of the container includes a base member adapted to be attached to a lower portion of the article and bottom corner members attached to the corner posts and to the base members, but which are severable from each other to allow the temporary partial removal of the appliance from the package and its reinsertion without destroying the integrity of the package.
