  • Patent number: 6065644
Abstract: A squeezeable dispensing container for paste-like substances comprising, a closed tube having flexible side-walls and a selectively closeable dispensing aperture, a plurality of paste containing capsule members disposed in serially connected chains within the container, each capsule having an open base end and a convex end, and each having a check valve in the vertex of the convex end thereof that is openable and closable as a function of lateral pressure exerted on the capsule. Lateral pressure on the container and the capsules acts to extrude paste out of one capsule and into the next capsule in the chain. The check valves in each of the capsules prevents the paste from regressing in the container, permitting only the forward movement of the paste. toward the container's aperture.

  • Patent number: 5969266
Abstract: A combined temperature and pressure sensing probe assembly for a flow measurement system comprising a body, a portion of which is adapted for insertion into fluid flowing in a confined conduit, such as a pipe. Within the body are separated plenums which are exposed respectively to high and low fluid pressures in the flow. A manifold block is that portion of the body which is disposed outside of the pipe containing the fluid flow. Along with valves and fluid conveying channels, the block is equipped with a duct for carrying electrical conductors and also contains a traversing bore which is aligned with the body and is in communication with the conductor carrying duct. An electrically responsive temperature sensor is disposed within or formed from the body. Conductors from the temperature sensor are directed from the manifold's bore through the connecting duct to a point exterior of the manifold.

  • Patent number: 5967780
Abstract: A vacuum receptacle and method is provided for accumulating, holding and disposing of liquids and certain solids that are withdrawn from the mouths of dental patients by a suction tube or other apparatus placed in the patient's mouth during dental procedures. The receptacle incorporates a vacuum outlet port to which a vacuum pump line is attached. The vacuum pump line pulls air and dental debris through the receptacle from a waste inlet port which is connected through a hose to the tube in the patient's mouth. A baffle is provided to impact and decelerate the dental debris as it enters the receptacle. Once decelerated, the dental debris falls to the bottom of the receptacle where it accumulates up to a predetermined level whereupon a float assembly activates a discharge pump. The discharge pump is connected to a waste outlet port that removes the accumulated fluid waste via an internal waste outlet tube.

  • Patent number: 5965800
Abstract: A method of calibrating an ultrasonic flow meter (10) first determines a static flow offset (52). Next, a dynamic flow offset (54) and a flow speed (56) are determined. • Patent number: 5953772
Abstract: A sink station system and method for accumulating and holding fluids and solid sediments. The sink station system incorporates a drain pipe serving to draw fluid out of a dental sink. The fluid flows down the drain pipe and into a fluid trap. As the sink is used, fluid accumulates in the fluid trap. As fluid accumulates in the trap beyond a predetermined level, the fluid rises upward through a water level pipe into a water level chamber wherein a float sensor is disposed. As the water rises to a predetermined level within the water level chamber, the float sensor is activated. Upon activation of the float sensor, a discharge pump is activated and accumulated fluid is pumped out of the system through a discharge pipe. The water level chamber and drain pipe fluidly communicate by means of an air vent that allows air accumulating above the fluid rising in the water level chamber out of the system to atmosphere through the drain pipe and sink.

  • Patent number: 5922974
Abstract: Process and apparatus for extracting soil gases from the earth and analyzing the collected gasses to determine the presence in the soil of gases produced by lower subterranean hydrocarbon deposits, such as petroleum and methane gas. The soil gases are passed from the soil through a soil probe and conductive tubing into a gas collector and concentrator comprising at least one molecular sieve which is chosen and selected for its ability to trap the gas or gases of interest. When the collection and concentration process is completed the gas collector is removed from the field apparatus and taken to a laboratory where the molecular sieves are heated to release the trapped gases. The gases are then analyzed in a gas chromatograph.

  • Patent number: 5835884
Abstract: A method of determining a characteristic of a fluid involves measuring a sonic transit time (102), along a non-perpendicular path, through the fluid. The sonic transit time is used to determine a speed of sound in the fluid (104). A measured flow rate (106) is determined from the sonic transit time. A friction factor (108) is calculated using the speed of sound and the measured flow rate. Next, a velocity profile (110) is determined using the friction factor. Finally, an adjusted flow rate is calculated (112) using the velocity profile.
