Abstract: Shaped objects including synthetic polymeric fibers with improved antistatic properties are prepared by incorporation therein about 1 to about 15% of a polyester antistatic agent prepared by reacting an N,N-bis(hydroxyalkyl) taurine salt with an organic polycarboxylic acid. Incorporation of the polyester into a synthetic polymer is accomplished by the process of preparing a melt or solution of the synthetic polymer and the polyester and extruding from the melt or casting from the solution to provide films, fibers and other molded objects exhibiting antistatic properties. A process for the preparation of the polyester antistatic agents of the invention, and for the preparation of the N,N-bis(hydroxyalkyl) taurine salts is also disclosed.

Abstract: A composition affording satisfactory performance in commercial glassware-cleaning equipment, operating with room-temperature water, is obtained with a composition containing not only a satisfactory proportion of caustic but also a very low-foaming nonionic surfactant and, as a solubilizer for such surfactant, a cycloaliphatic C.sub.21 dicarboxylic acid or one of its alkali-metal or ammonium salts.
Abstract: Highly branched polyether polyols of high molecular weight (such as over 12,000) are made by coupling an alkoxylated polyglycerol, by reaction of the sodium alcoholate of the oxyalkylated polyglycerol with a dibenzenesulfo or ditoluenesulfo ester of a diol containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms. Products obtained are viscous resinous products which are particularly suitable for use as hydrophilic water-swellable gels and other purposes.

Abstract: Liquid and solid compositions are provided for souring and imparting softness to freshly laundered textile materials. When in the form of a stable homogeneous liquid, the composition may contain a fatty amide of the class described more fully hereinafter as a softening agent, a water soluble organic acid containing about 1-20 carbon atoms and having a primary ionization constant between 10.sup.-1 and 10.sup.-5 as the souring agent, and water. When in the form of a stable dry solid, the composition may contain the aforementioned fatty amide as a softening agent, and a dry solid water soluble organic acid containing 2-20 carbon atoms and having a primary ionization constant between 10.sup.-1 and 10.sup.-5 as the souring agent. Stable homogeneous stock solutions are prepared from the novel liquid or solid compositions of the invention.
Abstract: New triazine compositions having incorporated therewithin both alkanolamino groups and pendent tertiary amino groups are defined herein. The triazines are prepared by the reaction of (1) an intermediate prepared from either alkyl chlorides or alkylene oxides and dialkylaminoalkyl primary amines and (2) cyanuric chloride or a derivative thereof. The triazines hereof exhibit excellent catalytic activity in the preparation of rigid cellular foams characterized by carbodiimide linkages.
Abstract: Liquid and solid compositions are provided for souring and imparting softness to freshly laundered textile meterials. When in the form of a stable homogeneous liquid, the composition may contain (a) a quaternized fatty amide, an aqueous emulsion of partially oxidized polyethylene or a fatty amphoteric compound as the siftening agent, (b) hydrofluorosilicic acid, ammonium silicofluoride, zinc silicofluoride, ammonium acid fluoride, potassium acid fluoride, or orthophosphoric acid as the souring agent, and (c) water. When in the form of a stable dry solid, the composition may contain (a) a quaternized fatty amide or fatty amphoteric compound as the softening agent, and (b) ammonium silicofluoride, potassium silicofluoride, sodium silicofluoride, zinc silicofluroide, ammonium acid fluoride, sodium acid fluoride or potassium acid fluoride. A method of preparing the liquid composition is provided which insures that it remains stable and homogeneous while awaiting use.

Abstract: Stable materials, such as films of fluorinated ethylene-propylene copolymers, are bonded to synthetic resinous cell frames with a cyanoacrylate adhesive. The so-covered frames are optimally employed in bipolar electrolytic filter press cells.
Abstract: A cell frame for a bipolar electrolytic filter press cell includes an electrolysis-associated lower section and a gas disengagement or diverting upper section. A pressure bar extends across the cell frame immediately above the lower section to prevent distortion of the separator by cathode generated gases, and to promote disengagement of the gases. The frame, also, includes external headers in the upper section for collection of the gases evolved by the electrolysis of the electrolytic solutions.
