  • Patent number: 6522516
Abstract: A fuse and filter arrangement having to a polymer fuse apparatus that provides bypass fuse protection. A polymer bypass fuse includes of an electrical conductor wherein a portion of the conductor is surrounded by an internal electrode, which is then surrounded by a layer of polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PTC) material, which is then surrounded by a conductive material similar to that of the internal electrode. The fuse and filter arrangement includes a plurality of in-line and bypass fuses combined with a differential and common mode filter, which itself consists of a plurality of common ground conductive plates maintaining first and second electrode plates between the various conductive plates, all of which are surrounded by a material having predetermined electrical characteristics to provide fail safe filter and circuit protection.

  • Patent number: 6520305
Abstract: A collar for a clutch, particularly a clutch used in selectively connecting and disconnecting a source of drive torque with a co-axial driven shaft. More particularly, the present invention relates to a collar wherein meshing surfaces of the torque source and the driven shaft are designed such that the collar is under a neutral axial force while under torque. The shift collar is splined to a rotating shaft and is slideable along the direction of the longitudinal axis of the shaft. Translation of the shift collar is preferably performed by means of a shift mechanism in association with a detent ball, used to self-lock the shift collar in place under torque load. When the shift mechanism and detent ball are moved to release the shift collar, the angle teeth and splines cause the shift collar to disengage, even under high torque load.

  • Patent number: 6498710
Abstract: The present invention relates to a passive electronic component architecture employed in conjunction with various dielectric and combinations of dielectric materials to provide one or more differential and common mode filters for the suppression of electromagnetic emissions and surge protection. The architecture allows single or multiple components to be assembled within a single package such as an integrated circuit or connector. The component's architecture is dielectric independent and provides for integration of various electrical characteristics within a single component to perform the functions of filtering, decoupling, fusing and surge suppression, alone or in combination.

  • Patent number: 6485235
Abstract: The present invention provides a new cutting tool assembly comprising a replaceable cutting head and a tool body having a common longitudinal axis and mating peripheral surfaces. The cutting head has a cutting portion forming a leading end, a pilot portion forming a trailing end, and a cutting head mounting portion adjacent the trailing end of the cutting head. The tool body has a cutting head receiving portion formed at a leading end of the tool body and a pilot recess disposed in the leading end of the tool body to matingly receive the pilot portion of the cutting head. The cutting head mounting portion and the cutting head receiving portion of the tool body each have at least two coupling portions. The cutting head coupling portions and the tool body coupling portions are bound by their peripheral surfaces and generally mate in shape and dimensions. Each coupling portion has a pair of base surfaces, including upper and lower surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6473515
Abstract: The present invention comprises an improved center pole having a distortion reduction cap and an improved method of coupling the cap to a speaker center pole. The speaker assembly comprises a distortion reduction cap and a cylindrical center pole having a gripping surface formed on an outer cylindrical surface of the center pole and a frustoconical recess on a top surface of the center pole. The cap is coupled to the center pole through the application of pressure on the cap to conform the cap to the center pole and to non-rotatably couple the cap onto the center pole by deforming a portion of the cap against the gripping surface. The distortion reduction cap is coupled to the center pole in a manner forming a corresponding frustoconical portion mating with the frustoconical recess on the top surface of the center pole in a manner providing an air tight seal.
