  • Patent number: 4934560
Abstract: The invention relates to a tangential distributor for stoppers of a given length and diameter. The distributor comprises a pair of rotating coaxial plates separated by a vertical distance which is slightly more than one stopper diameter. Between these plates is formed a passageway between a central portion of the plates and a peripheral area. Properly aligned stoppers are removed from this peripheral area. A baffle is formed into the passageway to orient the stoppers and allow only those oriented tangentially to the plates to pass into the peripheral area. A guide around the peripheral area retains the stoppers in the peripheral area until they are removed. The plates may be rotated at variable velocities for control of the rate of removal and orientation.

  • Patent number: 4929251
Abstract: The invention relates to a lead accumulator with a thixotropic gel consisting primarily of sulphuric acid and a gel former as an electrolyte, whereby the electrolyte consists of two different phases, a liquid, gel former-free phase, by which essentially the pores of the active materials are filled in, a solid phase, as a thioxotropic gel, by which the electrolyte space especially between the electrodes, is filled up. Both phases merge in the zone of the pores of the separators, which are arranged about the electrodes. Arranged in relation to the electrodes as separators are fibrous, non-woven materials, woven textile fabrics or other flexible, porous surface structures with capillary-active properties, that cover the entire surfaces of the electrodes without separation. The electrodes are retained in their positions by means of spacers.

  • Patent number: 4926031
Abstract: A security document such as a credit card or the like carries an automatically, machine-sensed material adapted to generate reproducible signals unique to such document. The material is arranged randomly along a line-like track and sensed by a scanning head having a transverse sensing slot of much greater length than the track width, whereby reproducibility of the scanning signals is assured. A system for testing the authenticity of such documents includes sensing means for detecting the material of the line-like track and converting it into a corresponding electric signal and a comparator means in which the electric signal is tested as to its identify relative to a signal generated in the same manner during the previous sensing. The electric signal is derived from a verification characteristic of the card which may be intrinsic property of the card material.

  • Patent number: 4923670
Abstract: A roof reflector comprising at least three individual layers of tapered layer elements combined in the form of vertical columns. Each column rests on a block column of the lateral reflector. Individual elements are secured by wedges and dowels to permit vertical column movements without constraint. The top and bottom layers comprise gas collector spaces communicating with each other by passage openings in the middle layer. In the top and bottom layers are also slot-shaped passage openings leading to an from the collector spaces. Preferably, they are radially offset relative to the passage openings in the middle layer to obtain good gas mixing as it rises through the reflector.Such a roof reflector is useful for avoiding roof reflector element damage if one element is vertically displaced relative to an adjacent element. The roof elements are carefully designed to achieve this end and maintain cover utility.

  • Patent number: 4921110
Abstract: The invention provides a device for extending a wardrobe from and retracting it back into a false ceiling. This wardrobe mechanism is intended to be integrated into a suspended storage system comprised of uniform ceiling panels. The wardrobe of the invention pivots between a horizontal closed position and a vertical open position. A suitably positioned weight compensation caliper arm assures one can easily extend and retract the wardrobe with a minimum of effort. A set of pinions transfer the movement of the wardrobe through an endless chain to a clothes hanger device. Thus, pulling the wardrobe down from the ceiling positions the clothes close to the ground within easy reach, pushing the wardrobe closed repositions and stacks the clothes flat.

  • Patent number: 4917855
Abstract: A shutdown system for a high temperature nuclear reactor where absorber material elements in the form of balls pass from an elevated reservoir into a vertical channel formed by aligned vertical cavities in horizontal, nose-shaped projections from the side reflector. The balls are transported back to the reservoir by way of a conveyor device. It must be insured that even in the case of accidents the absorber balls arrive in the cavities and that a rapid return of the absorber balls into the reservoir takes place. For the purpose, the reservoir is provided with an automatically-actuated and controllable device for releasing an opening between the reservoir and the vertical channel feed line. Below the channel is a removal tube terminating in a housing and arranged to form a pile of the absorber balls which seals the removal tube. To return the absorber balls, a metering gas acts on the pile and brings the absorber balls to a carrier gas.

  • Patent number: 4895666
Abstract: A centrifuge apparatus and a method of filtration are described. The centrifuge has radial and lateral filtration surfaces and separate discharge chambers for each. The lateral filter is located at an imperforate radial distance from the radial filter. This distance forces the filtration to occur through the radial filter and develop the filter cake rather than pass through the lateral filter which has no developed cake. The use of separate, laterally-disposed withdrawal chambers at different radial heights allows accurate control over the hydraulic filtration forces acting across the filter surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4880587
Abstract: An injection molded part of thermoplastic material, in particular an information carrier disk, is produced by cutting and removal of a sprue part from the injection molded part. The sprue removal leaves an opening in the injection molded part. In order to obtain a clean and smooth opening surface with a fit diameter that is as accurate as possible, the sprue part is axially offset relative to the injection molded part so that the integral connection between these two parts extends only over a part of the opening. The diameter of the axially projecting part is equal to or larger than the diameter of the opening and the rest of the opening being produced by injection molding. The dimensions are advantageously chosen so that a parting edge inclined at an angle of 45.degree. to the plane of the opening is formed and that the injection molded part amounts to 70% and the part to be separated to 30% of the length of the opening. The injection molded length of the opening may also be variable.
