    Abstract: An MPEG video decompression method and apparatus utilizing a plurality of stages interconnected by a two-wire interface arranged as a pipeline processing machine.     Abstract: A RAM implementation of asynchronous swing buffering is provided in which two buffers are operated asynchronously; one is written while the other is read. Accordingly, this allows for a data stream having a fast rate of through-put to be resynchronized to another rate, while still maintaining a desired rate. In the invention, the write control and read control both have state indicators for communicating which buffer they are using and whether the controls are waiting for access or are, in fact, accessing that buffer.

The circuit has a plurality of multipliers, connected in a linear chain, wherein a first multiplicand of the first multiplier is the magnitude A, and the second multiplicand is a constant. The circuit operates on a linear combination of alpha values that sum to .alpha..sup.j, each multiplier in the chain generating a succeeding alpha value. A plurality of selectors enable the outputs of the multipliers according to the magnitude .alpha..sup.j. An addition circuit, preferably realized as a logical network of XOR gates, is connected to the selectors for adding the enabled outputs of the multipliers to form the final product.

    Abstract: A positioning system for locating objects in places where standard Global Position System signals do not penetrate. A first embodiment uses a GPS receiver and a clock recovery unit. A computer receives the positional information and accurate time information. The computer calculates new orbital data for at least four pseudosatellites. The pseudosatellites are antennas positioned in an interior or shielded space and function to send pseudosatellite data to a receiver. In a second embodiment, the positions of the pseudosatallites are provided to the computer without the use of a GPS receiver. An accurate clock signal is also provided. The computer calculates orbital data for each pseudosatellite and transmits the time signal and ephemeris data for each pseudosatellite. The time signal is delayed for each pseudosatellite to account for propagation delays due to different connecting cable lengths.

The holder is movable relative to the carriage and receives a beam of light traveling along an X-axis. Flexures are provided for movably supporting the objective lens holder relative to the carriage. The flexures each have a hinge point within an XZ plane so that movement of the lens holder is provided by hinge action at the hinge points.

A comparator is provided for comparing the preprocessed signal with the threshold signal. The comparator generates an output data waveform signal indicative of the stored data on information storage medium.

An index number into a lookup table is associated with each JPEG Huffman coded data word, and a decoded data word is generated corresponding to the index number.

In a second mode, the second encoder is connected between the source and the read/write head, and the second decoder is connected between the read/write head and the utilizing apparatus. Control electronics switches between the first and second modes, depending upon the format in which data is recorded on the disk received by the disk drive.
