  • Patent number: 4797102
Abstract: An instructional globe facilitates the guided or self-directed study of terrestrial geography. A globe-shaped body is constructed so that major geographical features are represented on detachable appendages. Cues are provided for the proper placement of the appendages on the surface of the globe-shaped body, the cues consisting of niches, embossed or printed shapes, or indentations, unambiguously corresponding to the appendages. The globe-shaped body may be built up from a skeletal framework to hold a number of blocks, the blocks together forming a spherical surface. Appropriate portions of geographical features, or portions of cues, are formed on the blocks. A number of means are shown for attaching the blocks to the framework and the segments to the body. A series of embodiments apply the invention to the problems of teaching geography to students with varying or progressing learning skills.

  • Patent number: 4776771
Abstract: A self-aspirating and self-bleeding metering pump comprises a metering chamber having an inlet connected with a predelivery chamber and an outlet connected with a metering point. The predelivery chamber is connected with a metering agent tank through a suction conduit comprising a suction valve and a return conduit comprising a head valve. Furthermore, a diaphragm for predelivering into the predelivery chamber is provided. A metering section of the diaphragm cooperates with the metering chamber for performing the metering stroke and comprises a separate drive serving this purpose. In this manner dynamically stressed sealing members are avoided, whereby the self-aspirating and self-bleeding metering pump is resistent also to the metering of aggressive media.

  • Patent number: 4747222
Abstract: A flatiron is provided with a plane plate (2) onto which a heating coil (5), a tubular coil (8) as evaporator means, and a capillary tube-sensing element (15) in a tube (14) are soldered. The bottom of the tubular coil (8) is provided with bores (12) in alignment with orifices (12) in the plane plate (2), which serve as outlet orifice for the evaporated fluid. The heating coil (5) and the tubular coil (8) are arranged in mutual heat-conducting contact. The plane plate (2) is connected to a casing element (3) and a handle (4) in a way that there will not arise any thermal bridges between the plane plate (2) and the casing or the handle, respectively. A thermostat for regulation of the temperature of the plane plate (2) is provided with a capillary tube-sensing element (15) leading to a regulating switch means arranged in the handle.

  • Patent number: 4739604
Abstract: In a packaging machine for packing in packages formed in a material web a printing means having type bars for printing on the material web reciprocally movable between a rest position having a distance from the material web and an operating position, and an inking wheel and drive means for moving the inking means in a direction transversely to the type bars and for applying ink onto the type bars. In order to eliminate the frequent exchange of an ink ribbon the inking wheel is designed such that ink is applied to the type bars only in case the inking wheel is heated to a temperature being above room temperature, and the inking wheel is disposed in a casing which at least partly surrounds the inking wheel and which is designed to be heated and to be moved reciprocally together with the inking wheel.
