  • Patent number: 4296875
Abstract: The foam dispensing apparatus is mountable on a self-propelled or manually propelled vehicle such as a planting, fertilizing and spraying machine or like surface working vehicles. A peristaltic or squeeze type pump has an inlet section for receiving air and a foam agent solution which are mixed and successively moved through the pump for discharge in a foam form from the pump outlet section. A discharge nozzle connected to the outlet section is arranged to apply the foam material on the ground surface at a position adjacent to one side of the vehicle. The pump is driven at a rate in response to the ground speed of the vehicle over the ground surface and the air and foam agent solution mixture may be proportionally varied to maintain visual observance of the foam on the ground surface for varying time periods.

  • Patent number: 4286731
Abstract: A device that is manually actuable by a user for dispensing a plurality of soap leaf sheets one at a time includes a housing with at least a back wall, a bottom wall with a central opening, and a front wall with a dispensing slot adjacent the bottom wall. Channels are located at opposite sides of the central opening, and a dispensing member rides in the channels for movement in a parallel relation to the soap leaf sheets. The dispensing member also has limited pivotal movement transversely of the channels from a rest position in which the dispensing member is spaced from the soap leaf sheets to a moved position in which the dispensing member engages the bottom one of the sheets.

  • Patent number: 4284086
Abstract: A threshing unit is arranged in a concentrically spaced relation within a perforated rotatable grain separating cylinder. An elongated axially fluted impeller located below the threshing unit and within the separating cylinder accelerates the speed of travel of the threshed material to substantially the peripheral speed of the separating cylinder to reduce grain cracking and fracturing. The grain is centrifugally separated through the separating cylinder for removal by a clean grain auger located therebelow and the chaff is discharged by air flowing axially between the threshing unit and the separating cylinder. Tailings from the threshing unit are moved rearwardly along the inner peripheral surface of the separating cylinder for pickup and return to the threshing unit.

  • Patent number: 4274426
Abstract: The thresher apparatus includes a rotatable tapered threshing cylinder assembled within and in a concentrically spaced coaxially aligned operative relation with a rotatable tapered grain separating cylinder, with the space between the cylinders defining a threshing zone that has an inlet for receiving the grain to be threshed and an outlet for discharging the residual material. The separating cylinder has concave grates and separating grates in the peripheral surface thereof to provide for a grain threshing action and for a separation, by centrifugal force, of the threshed grain from the residual material over the entire peripheral surfaces of the cylinders. The spacing between the cylinders to accommodate different grains under varying field conditions may be varied by relative axial movement between the cylinders and by a variation in the relative rotational speeds of the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4266917
Abstract: This invention pertains to a method and machine for slip forming concrete wall structures such as median barrier walls for highways. The slip form comprises a pair of opposite side walls each of which has a skirt member retractable and extensible relative to the lower portion thereof. A top wall separate from the side walls is mounted on the machine frame between the upper portions of the side walls, and each side wall and associated skirt member is movable as a unit relative to the top wall and each skirt member is independently movable relative to an associated side wall. The side walls are adjustably supported on the machine frame for adjustment laterally of the machine frame to accommodate top walls of varying widths and the top wall is verticaly adjustable relative to the machine frame independently of the side walls.

  • Patent number: 4266309
Abstract: Honeycombs are supplied to one end of an elongated wax melting tank having a heated bottom with the melted wax and honey mixture flowing from the other end of the melting tank into an upright settling tank having an upper melted wax drain and a lower honey drain and heating elements therein above the level of the mixture. The drained honey is passed into a clarifying unit maintained at a temperature less than a wax melting temperature wherein any wax particles entrained in the drained honey are removed.

  • Patent number: 4255402
Abstract: Sulfur dioxide is removed from a gas stream by contacting the gas with an aqueous solution containing sulfite anion, magnesium cation, and one or more other cations whose sulfite salts are more soluble than magnesium sulfite. The contacting solution is regenerated with magnesium oxide or hydroxide and then recycled.

  • Patent number: 4247145
Abstract: A vehicle mounted cargo unit having a pair of rear jack assemblies employed to tie the cargo unit to a bed of the vehicle on which it is mounted and to aid in the support of the cargo unit when removed from the vehicle. The cargo unit has a generally rectangular box shape enclosure with a pair of side walls and a bottom wall of a generally U-shape in transverse cross section. Included in the bottom wall are a base section and a pair of upright side sections, each of which has an upper outwardly projected lateral section secured at an outer end to an adjacent side wall to form a channel portion for receiving a side portion of the vehicle bed. The jack assemblies are mounted in an upright position in the rear of the channel portions such that they are extendible to support the rear of the cargo unit and are retractible into engagement with the vehicle to secure the cargo unit thereon for transport.

  • Patent number: 4239430
Abstract: A jack and tie-down system for the front end of a vehicle mounted box shaped cargo unit having a front wall and a transversely extended chamber means secured to the inner surface thereof. A pair of front jack assemblies each includes a horizontal support structure guidably mounted within the chamber means for movement from a storage position in the chamber means to an operating position projected outwardly from an associated end of the chamber means. A linearly extendible and retractible jack unit is releasably mounted at the outer end of each projected support member for adjustment into and out of ground engagement. When the cargo unit is to be transported the jack units are retracted and detached from their associated support members. Each jack unit is then received within a support member, and the resulting assembly stored in the chamber means within the transverse confines of the cargo unit.

  • Patent number: 4226033
Abstract: The split base frame for encircling a tree to be transplanted carries a plurality of upright blade guide units for associated digging blades. Each blade is guidably supported for movement in a guided path from an upper position out of the ground to a lower ground inserted position wherein the blades are inclined downwardly and inwardly of the base frame to relatively converged positions to form a tree ball for the roots of the tree being excavated. A blade is moved by an upright lift screw and nut assembly located in each guide unit and wherein the nut assembly is attached to an associated blade. Coacting means on the nut assembly and on the guide unit define the guided path of movement of the blade with the nut assembly being traversible axially of the screw shaft on rotation thereof by a reversible rotary power means.

  • Patent number: 4226212
Abstract: An animal holding gate operable either manually to hold an animal or automatically by contact with the gate of the animal to be held. The gate has a pair of upright animal engaging members supported on a main frame for movement toward and away from each other into or out of an engaging position within the traverse confines of the main frame. Movement of the animal engaging members is controlled by a pair of levers linked to a rotatable rock shaft that serves as one side of a guideway for the upper portions of the engaging members. A spring assembly is actuable to bias the rock shaft in a direction to move the engaging members, into an animal engaging position. A trigger assembly has a catch member on the rock shaft and a latch member on the main frame which are engageable to hold the rock shaft, against the force of the spring assembly, in a rotated position in which the animal engaging members are out of an animal engaging position.
