  • Patent number: 8273249
Abstract: A new method that integrates electrochemical oxidation and flocculation processes for removing ammonia nitrogen in coking wastewater is disclosed in this invention. It comprises steps as follow: first, adjusting the PH of coking wastewater and adding Fe2+ into the wastewater; then leading the wastewater containing Fe2+ through such 5 areas as pulsed high-voltage discharge oxidation area, pulsed high-frequency DC electrolytic oxidation area, microbubble oxidation area, flocculation area and precipitation area in succession. High-voltage pulse and high-frequency pulse are two different mechanisms for achieving strong oxidation. With help of both solid and liquid catalysts, these two oxidations can work synergistically. The recalcitrant organic chemicals are effectively destroyed and satisfactorily removed out of wastewater. The high-concentration coking waster pretreated with this method will meet Chinese highest discharge standard as long as the routine biochemical treatment is applied thereafter.

  • Patent number: 8276148
Abstract: A system and associated method for continuously optimizing data archive management scheduling. A job scheduler receives, from an archive management system, inputs of task information, replica placement data, infrastructure topology data, and resource performance data. The job scheduler models a flow network that represents data content, software programs, physical devices, and communication capacity of the archive management system in various levels of vertices according to the received inputs. An optimal path in the modeled flow network is computed as an initial schedule, and the archive management system performs tasks according to the initial schedule. The operations of scheduled tasks are monitored and the job scheduler produces a new schedule based on feedbacks of the monitored operations and predefined heuristics.

  • Patent number: 8271220
Abstract: A system and associated method for evaluating a high-frequency signal at a point of interest on a signal path from a remote signal at a remote pickup point on the signal path. The point of interest is located on a device under test that is coupled to test equipment via the signal path. The high-frequency signal at the point of interest is calculated from the remote signal at the remote pickup point with an inverse transfer function that eliminates degradation effects on the high-frequency signal that is transferred through the signal path. The inverse transfer function may be calculated from measurements acquired in a test signal transfer through a reference path that simulates electrical properties of the signal path, or configured to a predetermined function if electrical properties of the signal path are known.

  • Patent number: 8272054
Abstract: A method and system for identifying an attacker device attempting an intrusion into a TCP/IP protocol based network that includes a managed device and a security event log. The managed device detects an incoming TCP/IP connection by the attacker device to the network. TCP/IP information relating to the attacker device is extracted from a TCP/IP stack of the managed device. It is ascertained that a port number of the incoming TCP/IP connection is identical to a predefined port number. A performed process includes determining that the incoming TCP/IP connection is a Net BIOS connection that has created an invalid logon by the attacker device. Event log information, which is associated with the detected incoming TCP/IP connection, is retrieved from the security event log. A generated report is generated and stored in a database of the network. The report includes the extracted TCP/IP information and the retrieved event log information.

  • Patent number: 8272000
Abstract: A computing system comprises logical and physical layers. In the configuration of this system, operating specific device drivers are decoupled from the installer applications and are instead functionally positioned in the lower logical layer. In this new configuration, the operating system would communicate directly with the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). The BIOS would have the drivers to communicate directly with the hardware components in the computer. This new configuration would eliminate one major step in building a computer. In addition, without this step, the construction of the computer would be faster.

  • Patent number: 8265095
Abstract: A method and logic circuit for a resource management finite state machine (RM FSM) managing resource(s) required by a protocol FSM. After receiving a resource request vector, the RM FSM determines not all of the required resource(s) are available. The protocol FSM transitions to a new state, generates an output vector, and loads the output vector into an output register. The RM FSM transitions to a state indicating that not all the resources are available and freezes an input register. In a subsequent cycle, the RM FSM freezes the output register and a current state register, and forces the output vector to be seen by the FSM environment as a null token. After determining that the required resource(s) are available, the RM FSM transitions to another state indicating that the resources are available, enables the output vector to be seen by the FSM environment, and unfreezes the protocol FSM.
