  • Patent number: 5136585
Abstract: A key telephone system includes a plurality of ports linked by port associated bidirectional communication channels which are synchronously switched by transferring bit states between ones of the channels to provide communication paths between the ports as directed by a central processor. The ports are also linkable to and via the central processor by port associated message channels. An interface circuit is responsive to the central processor and message channel signals for regulating flow of messages received by the central processor and for effecting single and plural channel distribution of messages from the central processor. The message channels permit telephony operating features and functions to be provided either within the central processor or by appropriate apparatus means being connected at any of the ports. In such a telephone system at least one of said apparatus comprises a telephone station apparatus and another of said apparatus comprises a feature host apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5093783
Abstract: The microcomputer has a plurality of register banks, each having a plurality of registers for containing data therein, a bank address register for holding the address of one of the register banks to be accessed and an access control circuit responsive to a bank address signal for putting one of said register banks in accessible condition. Part of the instruction code is utilized to modify the output of the bank address register during a portion of the execution cycle to permit single instruction transfer or arithmetic operations between plural memory banks.

  • Patent number: 5058980
Abstract: Light energy is efficiently coupled into a laser rod in a direction parallel to a resonating mode of the rod through optical fibers. Individual optical fibers having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the laser rod are placed side by side around a barrel portion of a laser rod, parallel to the direction of the resonating mode, with the core portions of the optical fibers exposed by stripping the cladding. Since the law of total internal reflection for the light in the fibers is violated when the light encounters the higher refractive index of the laser rod, the exposed cores contacting the laser rod couple light energy injected into ends of the fibers to the laser rod. A reflector at end of the fibers opposite the light injection allows uncoupled light energy to be coupled into the laser rod on a second pass.

  • Patent number: 5044763
Abstract: A processing machine is provided having a tool comprising at least two identical, diametrically opposite mixing fingers which revolve in the same horizontal plane. These mixing fingers have a round cross-section, are arranged very close above the bowl bottom and protrude with their free radially outer, slightly upwardly bent end into the bowl radius. Further, the mixing fingers are provided between the bowl bottom and bowl wall, and are adapted in contour outline approximately to the bowl radius. By using a round profile for the mixing fingers, both a pressure component against the bowl bottom and a raising component away from the bowl bottom are obtained. Also, due to the very small gap between the mixing fingers and the bowl bottom, an adequately high turbulence is generated so that material in this area is more fully mixed. Two mixing blades may also be provided above the mixing fingers and offset by 90.degree. in order to ensure proper mixing even of small amounts of material.

  • Patent number: 5045681
Abstract: The invention comprises a semiconductor substrate with a plurality of photoconductive elements. The photoconductive elements are connected to form a combinational logic ripple carry adder having only AND and OR logic gates. An optic substrate overlies the semiconductor substrate and directs light representing logic parameters onto the logic gates. The ripple carry adder has complementary inputs and complementary outputs to enable the use of only AND and OR gates.

  • Patent number: 5041173
Abstract: Spherical graphite cast iron utilized to prepare a lapping tool is manufactured by casting a molten composition into a mold cavity, and by chilling one side of the resulting casting thereby causing unidirectional solidification, the one side being used as the operating surface of the lapping tool. The molten composition consists of 3.0-3.8 wt. % of carbon, 2.0-2.9 wt. % of silicon, 0.3-0.9 wt. % of manganese, less than 0.05 wt. % of phosphorus, less than 0.03 wt. % of sulfur, 0.2-1.0 wt. % of nickel, 0-0.8 wt. % of copper, 0.05-0.5 wt. % of molybdenum, 0.03-0.09 wt. % of magnesium and the balance of iron. The lapping tool made of this casting has a percentage of sphericity of higher than 80%, graphite particle diameter of less than 100 microns, a density of graphite particles of larger than 70/mm.sup.2, and a Vickers hardness of larger than 200.

  • Patent number: 5030520
Abstract: An electrical conductor is particularly suitable for use as an insoluble anode in electrowinning processes, and is composed of an inner core of copper coated with an outer, thinner layer of a transition metal, preferably selected from among tantalum, titanium and niobium. The conductor is manufactured by a process including the steps of inserting a copper bar inside a relatively thin tube made of the selected transition metal, inserting the tube containing the copper bar inside a copper tube to obtain a three-metal structure, submitting the three-metal structure to a drawing process to produce a three metal wire, and dipping the three-metal wire in a solvent to remove the outer copper layer to produce a bimetallic wire.

  • Patent number: 5030555
Abstract: For the serodiagnosis of a fluid sample, it is particularly advantageous to use a device comprising (A) a supported, porous membrane wherein a first immunoreagent is bound so as to be capable of binding a foreign analyte and forming a complex when the foreign analyte is brought into contact therewith; and (B) a matrix which presents a first surface and an opposing second surface and which contains a second, labeled immunoreagent that is capable of binding the foreign analyte to form a labeled complex when the foreign analyte is sandwiched between the first immunoreagent and the second immunoreagent. In such a device, the first surface of the matrix is adjacent to a surface of the membrane, (ii) the matrix is wettable by or soluble in an aqueous fluid, and (iii) the second immunoreagent is mobilized when the matrix is wetted.

  • Patent number: 5027393
Abstract: A voice conference system using echo cancelers. The system consists of at least two microphone to send out voice signals to a remote location, and a loudspeaker which receives in voice signals from the remote location. To prevent the microphone from picking up the loudspeaker sound, each microphone is hooked to the separate terminal of a comparator. Thus the a person's voice in one microphone will pass, but the loudspeaker sound being received equally by both microphones will be cancelled.
