  • Patent number: 5605297
Abstract: In the course of rewinding yarn on a bobbin winding machine, the yarn performs a balloon-like oscillation around the delivery bobbin. The shape of the balloon has an effect on the yarn tension force and thus on the behavior of the yarn during winding. To reduce resulting tension fluctuations and particularly tension peaks, the course of yarn travel is influenced by means of a device in accordance with the present invention having an annular yarn guide surface comprised of a first set of guide surfaces collectively forming a part of a truncated cone the larger diameter of which is adjacent the delivery bobbin and a second set of guide surfaces collectively forming converging edges of an at least five-sided truncated pyramid with each pyramidal edge being disposed to extend axially between two adjacent first guide surfaces forming recessed notches in their collective conical surface.

  • Patent number: 5601648
Abstract: An apparatus for applying treating liquor to a traveling textile web having a vat containing treating liquor and a plurality of web guiding rolls submerged in the treating liquor and arranged in a substantially vertical sequence with adjacent rolls being in contact to form nips therebetween. The upper rolls are supported in the vat for resting under their own weight on the lower roll to apply pressure at the nips on the textile web. A drive motor drives at least one of the rolls with the other rolls being driven by surface contact with the drive roll for positive feed of the traveling web at a uniform surface speed through the treating liquor. Guide rolls guide the textile web to the vat at substantially the same surface speed as that of the plurality of rolls. A pair of driven squeeze rolls above the treating liquor form a nip through which the textile web is guided as it travels from the treating liquor, with squeeze rolls being driven at substantially the same surface speed as the guide rolls.

  • Patent number: 5600945
Abstract: Spinning stations of open-end spinning frames are cleaned from time to time to increase productivity, e.g. each time a sliver can change is made although, if the times between the exchange of two cans are too long, cleaning may be performed at a preset cycle. The sliver must be removed from the spinning station for this purpose. To be able to reintroduce a defined length of the removed sliver into the spinning station at the end of a cleaning operation, the end of the sliver is aspirated from between the draw-in roller and the gripping table of the spinning station by means of an aspiration and blower nozzle and pulled out of the spinning box of the spinning station and, after the cleaning operation, the sliver is introduced into the spinning station by means of the aspiration and blower nozzle. The aspiration nozzle has an insert with bores for causing the tip end of the sliver to assume a particular shape.

  • Patent number: 5596872
Abstract: A fluid power transmission for driving automotive accessories at a constant speed with a variable speed input includes a pump driven by a motor vehicle engine in communication with a hydraulic motor which drives the motor vehicle accessories. A working fluid is disposed within a conduit system which communicates the pump driving force with the hydraulic motor. A flow control valve in the return line from the hydraulic motor to the pump provides a constant input flow rate to the pump independent on motor vehicle engine speed and the accessory load on the hydraulic motor to provide a constant output speed at a necessary pressure for the pump to maintain the accessories at a predetermined optimal rotational speed.

  • Patent number: 5595070
Abstract: An attachment for the cylinder apparatus of a circular knitting machine which produces lock stitched hosiery. The attachment further includes an additional attachment which provides a mechanism to gather and sever a tubular hosiery segment intermediate its distal ends, creating two equal sized hosiery segments each having a closed end and an open end for use as foot covers, or footies, and having the advantage of creating two footies per cut with virtually no waste. A collar connecting device interconnects an extension cylinder to a standard cylinder tube on an existing knitting machine. The collar connecting device permits a double cylinder arrangement with an intermediate gathering, sealing and cutting device which yields a pair of hosiery footies with a single cutting action thus doubling the standard output, and eliminating the usual waste product.

  • Patent number: 5591338
Abstract: A fluid filter is of the kind having a tubular flow-through core surrounded by a pleated wire cage around which a filter medium in the form of a pleated bag is mounted with the pleats in the bag extending into and around the pleats of the wire cage. The filter medium is formed by a sheet of filter material having draw-string ends which fold over and are tied down on opposite ends of the cage. Sealing assemblies which eliminate the need for conventional gaskets are used to seal the folded over and tied down ends of the filter medium. The arrangement facilitates the assembly, removal and re-use of filter media.

  • Patent number: 5590553
Abstract: Textile yarn package supporting carriers are disclosed for use in textile dyeing machines to enable the machine to be effectively operated at less than full capacity. Each carrier has a base with multiple upstanding package supporting posts each having a longitudinal package supporting portion extending upwardly from the base and dimensioned to securely support a predetermined maximum number of packages on each post. A cap mounts to the spindle portion of each post for movement therealong into engagement with the outermost package on the post. The cap has a latching arrangement with a latch plate disposed to be selectively movable between a disengaged or release position wherein the latch plate does not impede relatively free sliding movement of the cap along the post and a second engaged position wherein the latch plate is braced against the post to prevent sliding movement of the cap along the post.

  • Patent number: 5584313
Abstract: A valve for use in a fluid flow line comprises a housing having a piston chamber with a inlet, outlet, and a vent. An annular outer piston defining a central fluid flow opening is disposed in slidable sealing contact with the housing within the chamber. An inner piston extends axially through the central opening of the outer piston for relative axial movement and is movable in an axial direction between a first position, in which the inner piston blocks the inlet from the chamber, and a second position, in which the inner piston seals the vent from fluid communication with the chamber. The inner and outer pistons, furthermore, are movable relative to each other between an engaged condition, in which the outer piston engages the inner piston to seal the central opening thereof, and a disengaged condition, in which the central opening of the outer piston is open to fluid flow therethrough.

  • Patent number: 5582354
Abstract: A textile winding machine has a plurality of winding stations and a servicing device which travels along the winding stations. The winding stations are connected with an empty tube magazine disposed at the end of the machine via a conveyor extending along the machine. A manipulating device is provided at each winding station for transferring an empty tube into an intermediate tube storage location of the winding station. The manipulating device has a tube gripper pivotable between a tube pick-up position at the conveyor and a tube release position at the intermediate storage location. The servicing device replaces cheeses which have attained a predetermined diameter with empty tubes by transferring an empty tube out of the intermediate storage location of the respective winding station. In the process, the fill state of the intermediate storage location is monitored by a sensor system installed on the cheese changing servicing device.
