  • Patent number: 6983823
Abstract: A combination boarding ladder and slide system includes a slide having an upper end pivotally coupled with a support structure, a lower end coupled with a ramp, and a slide bed supporting a removable boarding ladder. The boarding ladder is constructed of a flexible web with generally parallel spaced apart rungs and may be folded or rolled from the slide bed to permit use of the slide. The ramp is equipped with a series of generally parallel, spaced apart rungs. the angle of inclination of the boarding ladder and ramp are preselected to provide boarding access to the support structure by an animal such as a dog. A brace extends between the slide and the support structure to maintain the slide at a preselected angle of inclination. In aquatic applications, floats may be coupled with the lower end of the slide and the ramp may extend below the surface of a body of water.

  • Patent number: 6959108
Abstract: In an inspection system, workpieces to be inspected are consecutively and automatically launched to pass unsupported through the field of view of a plurality of cameras. As a workpiece passes through the field of view of the cameras, a sensor is activated which communicates with a computer system to activate the cameras to capture an unobstructed image, or image data, of the workpiece. The image data is then analyzed by a computer program to verify whether the image data indicates that the workpiece does not meet established criteria and therefore is considered defective. If the image does not meet the established criteria, the workpiece is rejected and segregated from workpieces which have not been identified as defective.

  • Patent number: 6903100
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the treatment of multiple sclerosis by periodically administering a high dose of methotrexate at a level sufficiently high to cross the blood brain barrier. The methotrexate administration is accompanied by leucovorin rescue of the periphery. The high dose methotrexate is preferably administered at 1 to 4 month intervals. The periodic high dose methotrexate treatment may be used in conjunction with interim treatments using a therapeutic agent that is effective in treating MS, but does not cross the BBB in cytotoxic amounts. It is contemplated that the method of the present invention may be employed to treat other non-infectious, non-neoplastic inflammatory conditions of the CNS.

  • Patent number: 6842111
Abstract: An integrated multifunction flasher system includes a pair of light units, each light unit housing an LED array, LED switches, and a programmed controller within an enclosure. The controllers of the pair of units are interconnected and are additionally connected to the turn signal wiring, the backup signal wiring, and to a manually operated switch. The controllers sense the operation of the turn signals, the backup lamps, and the manual switch and cooperate to generate flash patterns which parallel the turn and hazard flasher signals and which generate alternating strobe patterns in response to activation of the backup lamp or closure of the manual switch.

  • Patent number: 6826281
Abstract: An encryption device includes a card with a grid comprising multiple rows and columns defining boxes for receiving individual characters. One of the columns or rows contains a master password or code character string. Other columns or rows contain encrypted character strings. The individual characters of the master password can be offset with respect to corresponding, individual characters of the encrypted character strings. A sleeve slidably, reciprocably receives the card and assists with aligning the characters of the master password and the characters of the encrypted character strings, which are visible through a window in the sleeve. A method of storing, encrypting and retrieving character strings utilizes the encryption device.

  • Patent number: 6808665
Abstract: In a thermoforming system for masked polymer substrate sheets, a temperature resistant, non-stick coating is applied to a sheet of a polymer substrate material. The coated sheet is positioned on a flexible platen positioned over a mold having a predetermined shape. Heat is applied until the polymer reaches a thermoforming temperature and softens, whereupon the platen is lowered to stretch over and cover the mold. When the sheet begins to conform to the mold, the heat is withdrawn and a second platen is lowered over the sheet to urge it into conformance with the mold. The temperature resistant coating can be applied over an existing polymer film masking, and rapidly cures to form a non-stick surface which prevents adhesion of the masked polymer sheet to the platen surfaces.
