Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment, a balanced amplifier includes an in-phase amplifier coupled to a first input port of an output coupler and a quadrature amplifier coupled to a second input port of the output coupler. The balanced amplifier further includes an impedance termination coupled to an isolated port of the output coupler. The balanced amplifier further includes a protection circuit coupled to the isolated port of the output coupler and configured to limit an amount of power applied across the impedance termination. The balanced amplifier further includes an input coupler having a first output port coupled to an input of the in-phase amplifier and a second output port coupled to an input of the quadrature amplifier.

Abstract: Continuously extracting traffic load and speed on roads within the coverage area of a cellular network using only data that arrives to the cellular switch implanted in the following stages: (a) a learning phase, which can include vehicle(s) with a location device (i.e., a GPS system) traveling across the covered routes and collecting cellular data and location data in parallel, analyzing the accumulated data and processing the date to create a reference database; and (b) an operational stage in which communications on the cellular network are monitored continuously, and matched against the reference database in to locate their route and speed. The data analysis and data base structure are provided in a manner that enables in the operational stage fast and reliable initial identification of the vehicle's route, based only on the cell ID of handovers; follow-up forward and backwards of the vehicle's route; and real-time incident detection.

Abstract: A remote wellness monitoring system with universally accessible interface consists of an apparatus or home appliance unit running an embedded software program connected to a server computer via a phone line or high-speed internet. At home, the apparatus communicates with an optional set of medical health monitoring devices using wired or wireless communications methods in order to perform wellness measurements. Embodiments of the invention provide a novel user interface on the home appliance to make the system accessible to people with disabilities. The simple user interface is designed to be accessible to people who are blind or deaf or people who cannot use their hands and require an alternative interface device such as a sip & puff controller. The home unit can further monitor wellness activity of the care recipient by pegging the number of times the care recipient passes by an infra-red motion sensor.

Abstract: A remote monitoring system that includes a portable measuring device that can be coupled to a portable wireless gateway. The portable measuring device obtains measurements including physiological data, movement data and ambient measurements and provides these measurements to the portable wireless gateway. The portable wireless gateway can interface with a networked personal computer through an USB connector. Once interfaced to the computer, the measurement data can be loaded into the computer and delivered to a central system through the networked personal computer. The system enables the monitoring of a user's medical information to allow diagnostics of the user.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system of load balancing in a group of one or more servers connected to one or more subnetworks. Two or more independent servers are bound into a group, with one of the servers elected to serve as a leader. The leader acts as a load balancer for the group while the remaining servers act as slaves. This functionality eliminates the need for one or more dedicated load balancing devices and lowers the hardware requirements necessary for performing such load balancing.

A transcoding gateway provides an interface to a third generation wireless network and received video messages in a plurality of formats. These video messages are converted to a single format and provided to the video media server. The video media server can store the video messages in a message store, separated as a video component and an audio component. The entire video message can be provided to compatible equipment over the third generation wireless network. For non-compatible equipment, the audio component of the video messages can be provided.

Abstract: A double-click is enabled in a mark-up language environment for certain objects by capturing a first series of select and unselect actions associated with a multi-click enabled object, displaying a copy image of the multi-click enable object, and then allowing a second series of select and unselect actions to be applied to the copy image. The copy image is then deleted and the original image is left on the display. This aspect of the invention allows objects, displayed in a mark-up language environment, such as scroll buttons, increment buttons, or the like, to by-pass the double-click filter applied within such an environment.

Abstract: Outbound calling from a Voice eXtensible Markup Language (VXML) based voicemail system, which has distributed architecture, is disclosed. The voicemail system includes a media server, which is in communication with a telephone network. The media server includes multiple communication termination-link components, and the communication termination-link components are adapted to couple to trunks that extend to the telephone network. The media server also includes a network interface that is adapted to receive and provide communications to components of the telecommunications platform. The media server also includes a link-selector, a browser module, and a processor. The link-selector is adapted to select a given communication termination-link component from the plurality of communication termination-link components.
