Patent number: 8100921Abstract: The present invention involves new interventional methods for reducing gastric volume, and thereby treating obesity. The procedures are generally performed laparoscopically and may generally be described as laparoscopic plication gastroplasty (LPG) in which, after obtaining abdominal access, spaced apart sites on a gastric wall are engaged, approximated and fastened to create one or more tissue folds forming one or more plications projecting into the gastrointestinal space. The serosal tissue may optionally be treated during the procedure to promote the formation of a strong serosa-to-serosa bond that ensures the long-term stability of the tissue plication. These procedures are preferably carried out entirely extragastrically (i.e. without penetrating through the gastrointestinal wall), thereby minimizing the risks of serious complications.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 2010Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: Longevity Surgical, Inc.Inventors: Peter S. Harris, Barry Hal Rabin

Patent number: 7947641Abstract: The invention relates to a concentrate for the effective, environmentally friendly treatment of oil-polluted stretches of ground and the cleaning of oil-contaminated surfaces, said concentrate containing an emulsifier, a vegetable oil and ethanol. The emulsifier is preferably a non-ionic surfactant with an HLB value between 7 and 8. The vegetable oil is preferably selected so that it is liquid at temperatures above 5 DEG C. Oils containing unsaturated fatty acids, in particular germ oils are especially suitable. For its application as a treatment for stretches of ground, the inventive concentrate is diluted with water to form a cleaning solution and is applied to the oil-contaminated surface that is to be treated. The oil is emulsified in the inventive cleaning solution and is detached from the particles of the ground. The oil degrades in a significantly easier manner in the emulsified state. To clean oil-contaminated surfaces, the cleaning solution is sprayed onto the latter.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2006Date of Patent: May 24, 2011Assignee: Swisstech Holding AGInventor: Werner Kroh

Patent number: 7867571Abstract: The aim of the invention is to produce a textile surface (1), one side of which exhibits hydrophilic properties and the other side hydrophobic properties, whose overall cross-section is hydrophilic. To achieve this, a paste (11) consisting of a viscous emulsion or dispersion of paraffin, polysiloxane and/or fluorine compounds is applied to one side. The layer that has been formed by the first paste (11) is then stabilized by means of a drying process (4) and a second paste (12), consisting of a hydrophilic polymer is subsequently applied to the other side of the textile surface (1), said paste being stabilized by an additional drying process (5). Said steps provide a textile surface (1), which can be produced simply and cost-effectively, is extremely comfortable to wear and which ensures that moisture is immediately absorbed on the hydrophilic side, dispersed over a large area and rapidly removed, whereas the hydrophobic side of said textile surface (1) repels water.Type: GrantFiled: December 29, 2006Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Schoeller Textil AGInventors: Hans-Jurgen Hubner, Roland Lottenbach
