  • Patent number: 4119269
Abstract: A service box for deposit of valuables for a subsequent feed down through a delivery aperture to a vault or safe chamber. The service box has an insert aperture with a lockable insert aperture closure. The service box below the insert aperture has a fixed base projecting approximately halfway to the back wall and providing the delivery aperture and includes an inner box formed by a roof, side walls and back wall, with open front and open base. The inner box is mechanically reciprocable and a scraper, fixed on a side of the inner box near its open end, reciprocates with the inner box back along the service box fixed base. A sliding hatch which slides horizontally is located below the service box fixed base for closing and opening the delivery aperture, being connected to the inner box by linkage so movement of the sliding hatch and of the inner box is in opposite directions. An electric motor is used to reciprocate the inner box and the sliding hatch.

  • Patent number: 4118460
Abstract: Nitric oxide may be removed from gases with which it is admixed by contacting the gases with aqueous solutions containing nitrate ions in sufficient concentration to oxidize the nitric oxide to nitrous acid and to retain it in the solution under stable conditions. Other oxides of nitrogen can also be absorbed producing nitrous acid which is retained in the aqueous solution in a similar manner. Thereafter, the scrubbing solution is regenerated under controlled conditions, producing a gas stream which contains the recovered nitrogen oxides in relatively high concentration and a scrubbing solution which can be recycled. The recovered nitrogen oxides may be used in the manufacture of nitric acid or other compounds or decomposed into harmless gases.

  • Patent number: 4115511
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for vulcanization of rubber and rubberized materials in which a strip of material to be vulcanized is continuously transported from one autoclave to a second autoclave and thence to a third autoclave. Material is unrolled from a roll in the first autoclave, passed into and along a plurality of back and forth paths in the second autoclave and thence into the third autoclave where the strip is rolled. In all three autoclaves overpressure is maintained, and the second autoclave is the only one where vulcanization temperature is maintained. Closed strip communication channels are provided between the first and second and the second and third autoclaves. The channels are cooled to avoid passage of the high vulcanization temperatures from the second autoclave to the other autoclaves.

  • Patent number: 4110924
Abstract: A flat laminated sheet made from two sheets of plastic or cardboard and a third intermediate spacer sheet which is the thickness of a film such as a dentist X-ray film. The outer sheets have one or more rectangular openings positioned opposite each other, the opening of one sheet having a greater height dimension and lesser width dimension than an X-ray film and the other opening having a greater width dimension and lesser height dimension than an X-ray film so one sheet will have supporting rim portions for the film at top and bottom and the other will have supporting rim portions for the film at the sides. The intermediate spacer sheet at each opening can be weakened at margins essentially equal to the dimensions of a film so a screening portion of the spacer sheet can be removed for insertion of a film and replaced if a film is removed.

  • Patent number: 4109207
Abstract: A disc shape rotatable coding member for programming of a radio communication apparatus. The coding member has notches or teeth around its periphery which cooperate with a detent and permit indexing selection of disc positions that are indicated by a number of radials, intersected by a number of imaginary circles, each forming a row of spaces, thus rendering intersection points between the radials and the circle. The intersection points may be provided with empty spaces without holes, empty space with threaded holes, permanent projections in the shape of pressed-up protrusions, or of semipermanent projections in the shape of screws placed in the threaded holes. These screws may be placed in such a way that the screw head forms the protrusion or in such a way that the threaded part of the screw forms the protrusion.

  • Patent number: 4105386
Abstract: Thin-walled articles of thermoplastic material are formed in a continuous apparatus starting with heating and extruding granular thermoplastic raw material in the form of a continuous web which is immediately stabilized by rapid cooling of its opposite surfaces and the stabilized web wherein the material sandwiched between the precooled outer surface layers remains at or near extrusion temperature is fed into a thermal forming station wherein shaping tools form the articles in the web without the need for further heating of the web. Adjustments are provided for correlating the cooling action to different materials and web feed rates, for varying the web feed rates and increments, and for varying the shaping tool movements to adapt for different materials and sizes of articles. After the formed articles are separated from the web the web residue is fed back to be mixed with incoming raw material at the extrusion station.

  • Patent number: 4105107
Abstract: A feeding device placed between an infeed conveyor and two longitudinal lumber conveyors for directing pieces of lumber, e.g., logs, fed thereto to one or the other of the two longitudinal conveyors which carry the logs for further processing. The first unit in the feeding device arrangement is a singlepiece feed conveyor, with a photo cell device, which receives a log from the infeed conveyor. The next station is a vertically swingable flap disposed over a gap which can be bridged by the flap. Under the gap is a stepwise drivable winged wheel or set of wheels which is offset adjacent and above one of the longitudinal conveyors which also has an associated photo cell device. Next in the device and located adjacent the base of the flap is a stepwise drivable transverse conveyor which receives logs passing over the flap and has its discharge adjacent and above the second longitudinal conveyor which also has an associated photo cell device.
