  • Patent number: 4134479
Abstract: A case is provided with clips at the top and bottom so that it is releasably secured to upper and lower portions of a frame, thereby permitting the case to be readily removed. A suit coat can be readily draped over the top of the frame, which is configured much like a garment hanger. A horizontal rack near the bottom of the frame supports shoes beneath the case. Interlocking pivotal pants bars enable trousers to be carried. A flexible cover provided with shoulder and hand straps encloses the frame, case, suit coat, trousers and shoes.

  • Patent number: 4132489
Abstract: The plastic coupling unit includes oppositely directed tubular body portions, each having a circular opening at one end leading into its bore for receiving therein one end of a pole. Each tubular body portion is provided with a resiliently mounted tongue carrying at its free end a latch member that projects through a rectangular side opening into its bore so as to be engageable with a notch in the inserted end of the pole. A longitudinal key is contained in each bore and each inserted pole end has a keyway for receiving a key. In addition, the bores are formed with resilient ribs having sawtooth splines thereon that press against the pole end so that the two pole ends are firmly held by the coupling unit. Any number of coupling units can be employed in order to connect a desired number of poles in an end-to-end relationship.

  • Patent number: 4131996
Abstract: A blade having a chisel point at one end and a cutting point intermediate its ends is mounted in the blade holder of a sabre saw. As the sabre saw is moved along the wallboard to be cut, the chisel point on each stroke moves through the gypsum core, its rearwardly inclined end forcing the gypsum back into the kerf. The chisel point need only fracture the paper on the rough side of the wallboard, although it may pass completely therethrough. The cutting point severs the paper on the finished side of the wallboard.

  • Patent number: 4085465
Abstract: A shoulder strap guard in the form of a one-piece wire includes rearwardly projecting prong portions and forwardly projecting tongue portions, the tongue portions being maintained in a vertically spaced plane above the plane of the prong portions by inwardly and upwardly curving intermediate or connecting portions. A bead loosely encircles a transverse portion connecting the forwardly projecting ends of the tongue portions together so that after the prong portions have been inserted into the shoulder section of an outer garment, the shoulder strap of a handbag or the like can slide past the bead into a position underlying the tongue portions.

  • Patent number: 4083610
Abstract: Each track roller of a crawler has a tapered bore in which is fitted a tapered bushing holder, and fitted within the cylindrical bore of the holder is a cylindrical bushing which journals the roller for rotation about a transverse shaft mounted on the track frame of the crawler. Socket head bolts are threaded into the roller to anchor the holder in place. A thrust washer is carried at each side of the roller which prevents the roller from engaging the track frame, the thrust washers also preventing the entrance of dirt and other foreign matter into the region between the shaft and the encircling bushing.

  • Patent number: 4083233
Abstract: Two arms are hinged together at one end. Each arm contains a plurality of longitudinally spaced and generally aligned passages. The spacing of the passages is such that a fishline can be threaded through selected passages so as to enable the fisherman to set the drag mechanism associated with his fishing reel for a desired percentage of the test or breaking strength of the fishline.

  • Patent number: 4077227
Abstract: The liquid material to be frozen is separated into successive drops, each of which is subjected to an electric field of sufficient strength so as to induce on each drop an electric charge, the charges all being of the same polarity. The charged drops are sequentially directed at a controlled rate onto the surface of a cryogenic liquid where they momentarily float while being changed to a solid frozen state. During this interval the electric charges, being of like polarity, produce repulsive forces in accordance with Coulomb's Law which keep the drops apart so that they freeze and sink as individual pellets. The lack of agglomeration enables the pellets to be more rapidly and uniformly frozen and more rapidly and uniformly thawed for use at a later time. In this way, substances vulnerable to deterioration can be preserved for prolonged periods.

  • Patent number: 4076254
Abstract: The golf club has a head of composite construction which includes a specially configured metal insert encased in a plastic matrix. The insert comprises an aluminum or magnesium face plate, relatively thin corrugated ribs or plates on the same metal extending rearwardly therefrom, and a transversely disposed block of lead cast onto the rear ends of the ribs or plates, the lead block containing therein a stack of individually removable heavy discs, preferably of a tungsten alloy, that further increases the mass at the rear of the insert. The face plate and corrugated plates, which are of aluminum or magnesium, constitute a relatively low density metal, but the plastic matrix, which is molded about the insert, is of a much lower density, the plastic constituting rigid or structural foamed polyurethane.

  • Patent number: 4074245
Abstract: An alarm device for connection between an electric appliance and a power source to provide an audible and visual signal of a power failure. The device includes a first circuit in series with the appliance and power source containing an electro-magnet holding a spirally wound spring hammer in spaced relation to a gong. Upon occurrence of a power failure, the electromagnet is deactivated, releasing the hammer which strikes the gong. Simultaneously, a second circuit in parallel to the first having a switch spring-biased to an open position in the path of movement of the hammer and connected to a light is closed by the hammer. Upon restoration of power, the light is activated to indicate the occurrence of the power failure. A post connected to the free end of the hammer is used to reset the device by returning the hammer to the influence of the electromagnet, also enabling the spring-biased switch to reopen, upon the restoration of power.

  • Patent number: 4067258
Abstract: The crossover unit includes a polyurethane pad having a slot extending downwardly and then laterally or horizontally beneath an overhanging lip. A wedge-shaped rubber insert or plug is received in the slot which not only closes the slot, but also resists deflection of the lip when heavy vehicles traverse the unit so that sufficient space is maintained beneath the lip for the protective accommodation of an electric power cable or hose. In a second embodiment the slot extends in opposite lateral directions between a pair of overhanging lips, the insert in this instance being received between the two lips so that space exists under the lips for two cables or hoses.

  • Patent number: 4061873
Abstract: A one-piece corner post insulator of high density polyethylene for electric fences includes a relatively rigid U-shaped body having a spring arm extending from the end of one leg of the body towards the end of the other leg thereof. The spring arm has a hooked end releasably engageable with a keeper formed on the said other leg. An appropriately located hole in the rigid body permits one end of an anchor wire to be threaded therethrough and the other end looped over the corner fence post. The electric fence wire can be pressed between the hooked end and the said other leg into the opening formed by the spring arm and rigid body, and then the hooked end snapped into engagement with the keeper so that the electric fence wire is held captive.
