  • Patent number: 3963888
Abstract: The tilt switch device includes a cylindrical casing having a platform therein located near its upper end. A circular disc has a downwardly projecting flange or skirt which rests on the platform. A rod is threadedly attached to the center of the disc, the upper end of the rod projecting a preferred distance thereabove. The rod depends downwardly from the disc through a hole in the platform. Carried at the lower end of the rod in a pendulum-like manner is a tubular weight member which is immersed in a damping fluid contained in the casing. Whenever there is a sufficient relative angular displacement of the casing with respect to the rod, the disc fulcrums or pivots about a segmental portion of its peripheral edge to cause the upper end of the rod to rock upwardly.

  • Patent number: 3944796
Abstract: A conventional stereo tape recorder is used to record a series of reference pulses on each of the two channels or magnetic tape tracks followed in each instance by intermediate event pulses representative of behaviorial phenomena or units. The delay or time interval between reference pulses and event pulses is indicative of the particular behavior that has been observed. An astable or free running multivibrator for each channel provides the reference pulses, whereas a monostable or one-shot multivibrator, which is triggered by its companion astable multivibrator, provides the event pulses. A key-controlled resistance-capacitance circuit connected in the monostable circuitry functions to vary the delay or position of the event pulses with respect to the reference pulses. Individual keys, or combination of keys, are assigned codes representative of the various behaviors and subjects to be observed and recorded.

  • Patent number: 3934772
Abstract: The device includes a pair of U-shaped rods, which function as jaws for gripping the neck of a water cooler bottle when lifting the bottle from its carton or case, the jaws being pivotally connected to transverse rods which are part of a generally rectangular frame. A pair of hoops, likewise in rod form, are pivotally connected to the ends of longitudinal rods which are also an integral part of the rectangular frame, the hoops having handles which facilitate the lifting. After the bottle has been removed from its carton and while resting on the ground or floor, the hoops are placed in ana encircling relation with the body of the bottle so that the bottle can be readily tilted into a horizontal position. Thereafter, when the bottle is to be inverted for placing into the water cooler, the hoop handles are grasped with one hand and the above-mentioned jaws with the other hand so that the bottle can be quickly turned upside down and lowered into the water cooler.
