Abstract: A system and method for communicating through a host repeater. Data is received from a remote repeater communicating with a wireless device. The host repeater registers as the wireless device on a wireless network. The data is reformatted for transmission between the wireless devices and the wireless network.

Abstract: A system and method for providing video surveillance may include providing digital television services to a customer via middleware. The middleware may include digital rights management services. Digital surveillance services may be provided to the customer via the middleware. In providing digital surveillance services to the customer, the customer may be enabled to access surveillance equipment via the middleware from a remote location using a telecommunications device, where the telecommunications device is authorized to access the surveillance equipment by the digital rights management services.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of producing xylitol using a hydrolysate containing xylose and arabinose prepared from byproducts of tropical fruit biomass and more precisely, a method of producing xylitol which includes the steps of producing xylose and arabinose by the pretreatment of tropical fruit biomass byproducts including coconut shell, palm shell and oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) via acid (0.2-5%) hydrolysis and an electrodialysis and an ionic purification; and producing xylitol with high yield based on repeated batch fermentation using a hydrolysate containing xylose and arabinose as a carbon source. In addition, the present invention relates to an active carbon produced by carbonization and activation of a hydrolysate remainder of a tropical fruit shell, the byproduct of xylose and arabinose production, at a certain temperature and a preparation method of the same.

Abstract: A method for the identification of chromosomal inversions is described. Single-stranded sister chromatids are generated, for example by CO-FISH. A plurality of non-repetitive, labeled probes of relatively small size are hybridized to portions of only one of a pair of single-stranded sister chromatids. If no inversion exists, all of the probes will hybridize to a first chromatid. If an inversion has occurred, these marker probes will be detected on the sister chromatid at the same location as the inversion on the first chromatid.

Abstract: In one embodiment, when a mobile device is powered on, a mobile switching center acquires the contact information, such as, but not limited to, a phone number and the physical location associated with the mobile device. If the mobile device is a new device to the area, the contact information of the mobile device is passed to a reverse 911 database in order for a user of the mobile device to receive local alert messages transmitted by a reverse 911 system.

Abstract: A system and method for telephone service technicians to retrieve telephone line assignment information, including receiving a telephone call from a telephone service technician. A telephone number assigned to a customer of a communications carrier may be received, where the telephone number is associated with a telephone operating on a wired communications network, such as the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Telephone line assignment information may be requested, where the telephone line assignment information includes cable and line pair information. The telephone line assignment information may be converted into speech synthesized audible signals and communicated to the telephone service technician during the telephone call. The conversion of the telephone line assignment information may be performed by an interactive voice response system.

Abstract: A system and method for determining telephone number blocks available for pooling donations by a telecommunications carrier. The system may include at least one database configured to store data indicative of customers assigned to telephone numbers. A computing device may be in communication with the database(s) and execute software configured to query the database(s) (i) to determine a number of customers assigned to thousands blocks of telephone numbers and (ii) to project growth rate of a rate center associated with the thousands blocks over a predetermined future time period. The software may be further configured to determine the number of thousands blocks to donate based on the number of customers assigned to the telecommunications carrier and the projected growth rate of the rate center associated with the thousands blocks.

Abstract: Systems and methods for authenticating digital assets in relation to a telecommunications network. In various cases, the systems include a network interface device associated with a customer premises. The network interface device includes a local authentication authority operable to authenticate one or more digital assets maintained in relation to the customer premises. In some cases, a global authentication authority can authenticate the network interface device, and implicitly authenticate the one or more digital assets. Many other cases and/or embodiments are disclosed herein.

Abstract: A handset test adapter includes a telephone jack operable to receive a cord for testing a communications connection. The communications connection being POTS or DSL service. The handset test adapter includes a switch in communication with the telephone jack and a telephone plug in communication with the switch. The telephone plug is operable to communicate with a handset tester for testing the DSL service. The handset test adapter includes electrical plugs in communication with the switch. The electrical plugs are operable to communicate with the handset tester for testing the POTS. The switch is operable to receive a user selection of POTS or DSL service. The switch connects the telephone jack to the telephone plug in response to the user selection indicating DSL service, and the switch connects the telephone jack to the electrical plugs in response to the user selection indicating POTS.

Abstract: Wireless telecommunications is inhibited within a limited region by generating a noise signal within a frequency range of the wireless telecommunications and broadcasting the noise signal into the limited region. A system for inhibiting wireless communications includes a radio frequency noise generator generating a noise signal within a frequency range of the wireless telecommunication. At least one antenna broadcasts the noise signal into the region. Control logic initiates or suspends broadcasting of the noise signal based on at least one control input.

Abstract: A system and method for assisting telephone service technicians in repairing communications lines may include storing test parameters for testing operation of a communications line. An operational parameter of communications over the communications line may be tested and a determination as to whether the operational parameter meets an operational criteria established by at least one of the test parameters may be made. The measured operational parameters and a test result indicator may be stored. If the operational parameter met the operational criteria, then an indication that the operational parameter passed a test may be made. Otherwise, (i) an indication that the operational parameter did not pass the test, (ii) possible causes for the operational parameter failing the test, and (iii) recommendations for correcting at least one possible problem that lead to the operational parameter not passing the test may be displayed for a technician.

Abstract: A method and system for verifying authenticity of an online usage of a user may include sending a message in an electronic communication to an electronic message address of a user, interactively communicating with the user a request for a response including at least a portion of the message sent to the user, and determining if a response to the request from the user matches at least a portion of the message sent to the user. The message may include a personal identification number used for verification. A certification link or authentication code may be provided to the user for posting on a website or within an email. The certification link or authentication code, optionally displaying an indicia, may enable other users to have confidence that the user whose website other users access or whose emails other users receive are authentic and not someone impersonating the user.

Abstract: Voice or video communication is incorporated into a television or compatible audio capable visual display by routing a television signal through a communication interface apparatus connected to a voice or video communication network and switching between a call and at least the audio portion of the television signal when a call is detected and the user chooses to answer the call in response to an on-screen menu superimposed on the video portion of the television signal. The communication interface apparatus includes a controller that is configured to allow speed dialing using a wireless remote, as well as making calls from a user-defined contact list or a regional phone directory that is updatable from a remote source via the Internet.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a system method for automatically providing resolutions for abnormal end codes from a mainframe system. An abnormal end code for a mainframe computer system is received from a user. A storage device is accessed to determine if there is a resolution for the abnormal end code. If there is a resolution for the abnormal end code, the resolution is provided to the user. If there is not a resolution for the abnormal end code, it is determined what question should be asked of the user. The question and the answer to the question received for the abnormal end code help determine the correct resolution for the abnormal end code.

Abstract: A method of absorption spectroscopy including obtaining absorption data at multiple wavelengths along more than one line-of-sight path through a quantity of gas of interest. The method further includes identifying more than one temperature and gas species concentration bin along the multiple line-of-sight paths and creating a map of temperature and gas species concentration. The map thus created will have at least two-dimensional information derived from select temperature and gas species concentration bins identified along more than one line-of-sight path. Apparatus for implementing the above method is also disclosed.
