Abstract: The present invention provides a transmission line portion for a circuit board including a conductive strip and a pad portion including a conductive pad connected to the conductive strip, wherein an impedance discontinuity or mismatch between the transmission line portion and the pad portion is reduced or controlled. Impedance discontinuity or mismatch may be controlled by controlling the dimensions of the pad portion, for example the pad width or distance between pad and ground. A ground pad associated with the pad portion may be provided on a different layer than a ground plane of the transmission line portion. The ground pad and ground plane may be connected by vias. The ground pad may comprise a patterned conductive region, the pattern configured so as to desirably configure impedance of the pad portion. Also provided are a method, circuit board layout, and the like, related to the above.
Abstract: The invention relates to a plant aid for surrounding a young plant. The plant aid comprises a tube at least partly sideways surrounding a young plant placeable in the plant aid. The plant aid further comprises a water collection sheet for collecting moisture present in the atmosphere. The water collection sheet comprises a water collection surface comprising a receiving surface, which receiving surface operatively makes a first angle with respect to the orientation of gravity. The water collection sheet further comprises a collecting surface adjoining a lower edge of the receiving surface, which collecting surface operatively makes a second angle with respect to the orientation of gravity. The first angle is smaller than the second angle.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a cordless telephone mesh network may include monitoring, by a cordless telephone base unit, a cordless communications parameter of a cordless communications signal being received from a cordless telephone handset during a telephone call. A determination that the cordless communications parameter crossed a predetermined threshold level may be made. In response to determining that the cordless communications parameter crossed the predetermined threshold value, at least one other cordless telephone handset may be caused to switch into a repeater mode so as to receive and communicate the cordless communications signal between the cordless telephone handset and the base unit.
Abstract: The present invention provides novel condensation aerosols for the treatment of disease and/or intermittent or acute conditions. These condensation aerosols have little or no pyrolysis degradation products and are characterized by having an MMAD of between 1-3 microns. These aerosols are made by rapidly heating a substrate coated with a thin film of drug having a thickness of between 0.05 and 20 ?m, while passing a gas over the film, to form particles of a desirable particle size for inhalation. Kits comprising a drug and a device for producing a condensation aerosol are also provided. The device contained in the kit typically, has an element for heating the drug which is coated as a film on the substrate and contains a therapeutically effective dose of a drug when the drug is administered in aerosol form, and an element allowing the vapor to cool to form an aerosol. Also disclosed, are methods for using these aerosols and kits.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method for initiating an outgoing call from a cellular handset to a fixed network using a DECT base station includes receiving an outgoing call request from a cellular handset by an adaptor module in communication with the cellular handset. The outgoing call request includes a request to establish a call session with a communication device over a fixed network. The method further includes sending a call set-up message to a DECT base station in response to receiving the outgoing call request. The DECT base station is configured to initiate an outgoing call to the communication device over the fixed network in response receiving the call set-up message. The method further includes receiving a call connect message from the DECT base station, and establishing a call session between the cellular handset and the communication device.
Abstract: Tools are provided for distributing access-restricted content in an internet protocol television (“IPTV”) environment based on portable entitlement keys. Such tools can include a decoder, an encoder, and a network entitlement handler. The decoder may be configured to receive a key associated with entitlement information, and transmit the entitlement information over a network. The encoder may be configured to receive content from content providers, and to encode the content to create IP-compatible content, with access restrictions based on entitlement. The network entitlement handler may be configured to receive a request for requested content from the decoder; receive the access-restricted content including (including the requested content) from the encoder; and transmit the requested content over the network to the decoder using IP, when the decoder is entitled to receive the requested content.

Abstract: The present system and method for providing network connectivity and computer status information is displayed to a user and presents useful troubleshooting information related to various networks and computer status information. Abstract: A method, system, and computer usable program product for assigning and provisioning VOIP services are provided. A data processing system receives an order for the VOIP service and information about virtual inventory. The data processing system may create a provisioning command including provisioning information for provisioning a telecommunication line according to the order and send the provisioning command to a provisioning system, create a porting command including porting information for porting the phone number in the order if porting a phone number and send the porting command to a porting system, create a registration command including user information for registering a user and send the registration command to a web portal, create a setup command including the user information for creating an account for the user and send the setup command to a customer management system. The data processing system may then complete the order for the VOIP service.
Abstract: A system and method for controlling systems of a vehicle with a cell phone. The cell phone is associated with the vehicle through a user interface. User preferences are received through the user interface for sending commands from the cell phone to the vehicle for controlling the systems of the vehicle. A wireless connection is established between the vehicle and the cell phone. A distance is determined between the cell phone and the vehicle. One or more commands are sent to the vehicle to control the systems based on the user preferences.
Abstract: A system and method for wireless conferencing. A personal wireless device is linked with a conferencing system for implementing a conference call. Voice input is received from a user through the personal wireless device. The voice input is transmitted to the conferencing system in response to receiving the voice input. The voice input is broadcast through one or more speakers in communication with the conferencing system in response to determining the voice input may be inaudible to one or more users in a room.
Abstract: A system and method of delivering targeted advertising to packet-based network telecommunications devices may include accessing a database configured to store telephone services information of telecommunications devices. The telecommunications services information may indicate whether a telecommunications device has packet-based network access. Telecommunications devices that have telephone number information including NPA-NXX of a certain NPA-NXX code and packet-based network access may be identified. Advertising content may be communicated to the identified telecommunications devices for display on the telecommunications device.
