  • Patent number: 6604726
Abstract: A proportional solenoid-driven valve control assembly contains a moveable, magnetic armature positioned adjacent to one end of a fixed magnetic pole piece. The magnetic pole piece has a longitudinal axial pole piece portion, and a relatively thin, annular axial pole piece portion, that rapidly saturates, and is effectively mechanically solid with the longitudinal pole piece portion for fluid leakage containment. A radial portion is solid with the annular axial portion and provides support and alignment for the armature relative to the magnetic pole piece, without the need for non-magnetic material for alignment, support or magnetic flux flow path control.

  • Patent number: 6462461
Abstract: An AC switch is created by switching devices to modify the output of an ultrasonic generator. The AC switch introduces a modification circuitry into and out of the output stage of the ultrasonic generator. The AC switch is placed in parallel with the modification circuitry when inserting the modification circuitry into a conduction line of the ultrasonic generator. It is placed in series when inserting the modification circuitry between two nodes of the ultrasonic generator. A control circuit is associated with the AC switch to turn on and off the ultrasonic generator, overcoming the inability of triacs to turn off power when conducting ultrasonic current. The introduction of the modification circuitry by the AC switch allows the modification of the frequency, amplitude, power, impedance and waveform of an ultrasonic generator.

  • Patent number: 6414801
Abstract: The subject invention describes a light assembly using light emitting diodes (LEDs) especially suited for use as a daytime running lamp. The catadioptric light assembly comprises a circuit board, a first set of LEDs secured to a first board, a first collimator disposed in front of the first set of LEDs for directing resultant parallel light beams to a reflective surface. The light beams are reflected by the reflective surface to an inner reflective surface of a housing and are directed, in a parallel fashion, to a lens. A second collimator is disposed in from of the second set of LEDs for directing the resultant parallel light beams directly to the lens. First and second support members, connected to the first and second boards, respectively, absorb and dissipate the heat generated by the LEDs.

  • Patent number: 6354174
Abstract: A tool for removing either clasped or snapped fasteners from tarps and canvases. The tool has at one end a hook which can be inserted into an opening between the clip and the rail on a clasped fastener. The tool is moved along the rail and twisted upwards resulting in disengagement of the clasped fastener. The other end of the tool has a claw which is pushed around the fastener cap on a snapped fastener. Upward force can be applied to the button, if necessary, to dislocate it from the fastener base. The tool is provided with a hole so that it can be carried on key rings or key chains.

  • Patent number: 6283274
Abstract: The present invention describes a tensioner that automatically increases the effective torque on the support arm over time. The tensioner is comprised of a torsion cam engaging the support arm of the scraper blade assembly, a torsion cable engaging the cam, a tension rod with a spring surrounding the rod secured to the torsion cable. Over time, as the scraper blade wears down and the spring force decreases, the torsion cam is slowly rotated to increase the torque arm of the invention and thereby increase the effective torque on the support arm and compensate for the decrease in spring force. This invention may be adapted for use with any existing scraper blade assembly.

  • Patent number: 6273371
Abstract: Method, apparatus and sensors for directly interfacing a pilot (1) with the aerodynamic state of the surfaces of an aircraft, in particular allowing the direct sensorization of the conditions of the aerodynamic surfaces during the flight. The pilot (1) wears one or several “data suits” (2), for example on the arm, on the trunk, on the face or on the hands. The information on the boundary layer state is detected by a plurality of sensors (3) located on the different aerodynamic surfaces. A body interface (4) comprising a console (5), a multi-channel conditioning unit (6) and a processor (7) for the data acquisition are connected to the data suit (2). The data suit uses tactile sensations to transmit to the pilot, data responsive to critical airflow conditions at the sensors (3). In an aircraft with many aerodynamic surfaces the pilot can detect directly any arising critical condition.

  • Patent number: 6193249
Abstract: A steering mechanism is provided for tandem wheeled vehicles. The steering mechanism employs casters that are capable of swivelling. The casters are attached to a base member and a pair of resilient members is used to provide control over the degree of swivel of the casters. When turning, the caster rotates in the direction of turn and is restricted by the resilient members. The degree of rotation which the caster is allowed depends on the resilience of the resilient members and the force being applied to motivate the turn. A skateboard is also provided which incorporates the steering mechanism.
