  • Patent number: 6095663
Abstract: A light assembly, comprising a planar substrate containing a plurality of light sources mounted perpendicularly thereto, each of the light sources operatively arranged to emit light outwardly from the source at a solid first angle which is less than 2.pi. steradians, and, a light directing element mounted to the planar substrate and operatively arranged to direct the light emitted from each of the plurality of light sources into a beam which subtends from the source at a second angle which is greater than the first angle in at least two dimensions. In a preferred embodiment of the light assembly, the light directing element is a reflector. The light assembly of the subject invention is especially suited for use as combination of a truck clearance and marker light assembly.

  • Patent number: 6036102
Abstract: An apparatus for the prevention of ice dams on roofs of edifices comprising a ventilator, a first and second outdoor temperature sensor. The first temperature sensor is located outside where snow will not collect. The second outdoor temperature sensor is located on the roof of the edifice where snow will collect. Both sensors are housed to protect the sensors from extreme weather conditions, such as sun and wind. The apparatus also comprises a thermostat for receiving the temperature readings from the first and second temperature sensors and manipulating the ventilator. The apparatus also provides a method of preventing ice dam formation on roofs of edifices, comprising the steps of detecting a first temperature reading of the ambient atmosphere, detecting a second temperature reading of the roof of the edifice, comparing the readings to determine whether conditions exist for ice dam formation, ventilating an air space below the roof of the edifice to cool the roof if ice dam conditions are present.

  • Patent number: 5988484
Abstract: A method of manufacturing clad tubular product from a hollow carbon steel billet having an inner diameter and a hollow corrosion resistant alloy billet having an outer diameter, comprising the steps of: machining the inner diameter of the hollow carbon billet and the outer diameter of the hollow corrosion resistant alloy billet to result in an interference fit between the two billets at room temperature when the corrosion resistant billow is placed inside the carbon billet; heating the hollow carbon billet in a furnace until the carbon billet reaches a temperature in the range of approximately 400.degree. F. to about 850.degree. F.; inserting the corrosion resistant billet inside of the hollow carbon billet while the carbon billet is at a temperature in the range of approximately 400.degree. F. to about 850.degree. F.
