  • Patent number: 7784936
Abstract: A device for dispensing ophthalmic solutions to a user's eyes comprising a container for holding ophthalmic solutions, transfer tubing attached to the container for dispensing and applying said solution and a clip attached to the container for attaching said applicator to eyeglasses. The transfer tubing is the clip by being formed into the shape of a clip for attaching said eye solution applicator to eyeglasses.

  • Patent number: 7740643
Abstract: An adjustable nasal cavity dilation device includes a first deformable body having a shape corresponding to the nasal cavity. Top and bottom frame ends of the body are interconnected by a flexible wall structure that undergoes deformation in response to movement of one frame end relative to the other. A releasable holding member includes a ring that engages the bottom frame end and an upstanding central member that engages the top frame end. The ring and the upstanding central member are coupled by a plurality of radial arms. The flexible wall structure is deformed and effective for urging against nasal cavity walls to increase air flow through the nasal passage when the top and bottom frame ends are maintained in a holding condition by the ring and the upstanding central member. The ring and radial arms define openings that permit passage of air into and out of the nasal cavity through the releasable holding member.

  • Patent number: 7727252
Abstract: A method of improving air flow through a nasal cavity includes providing an adjustable nasal cavity dilation device with a first deformable body having a shape corresponding to the nasal cavity so as to enable insertion of the device within the nasal cavity. The body includes top and bottom frame ends interconnected by a flexible wall structure that undergoes lateral deformation in response to movement of one frame end toward and away from the other, and a releasable holding member with complementary mating components that engage with the top and bottom frame ends and are adapted to adjustably maintain the top and bottom frame ends at a desired distance in a holding condition.

  • Patent number: 7678403
Abstract: A method comprising selection of unbroken whole grain rice that are first washed, or whole grain corn that is first reduced in size, and then making an aqueous slurry that is subsequently wet milled to release all the protein, fat, fiber, and starch components normally held in the structure of the grain. The resulting slurry can be reacted with heat to gelatinize the starch and the subsequent product dried. Also, the heated slurry containing the liberated components can be treated to enzymatic hydrolysis via the process of liquefaction and optionally saccharification, producing whole grain rice milk products having diverse carbohydrate compositions.

  • Patent number: 7488116
Abstract: It is often desirable to efficiently couple laser foci that are dimensionally large to dimensionally small optical fibers. A fiber fused in a lower refractive index fiber is disclosed. The fiber/ferrule construct is characterized by having no taper of the fiber in the ferrule and a negative lens shape at a fiber/ferrule face. This construct enable the coupling of imparting rays that fall outside of the fiber core into the transmission path of the fiber. Where the laser systems are integrated in a manner that precludes altering the focusing optic, such as in surgical laser systems, or where the laser's beam focal properties are such that reducing the focal spot diameter is impractical for fiber coupling, modification of the optical fiber input geometry offers a means of customizing the laser-to-fiber interface for applications involving different fiber diameters.

  • Patent number: 7421749
Abstract: A body support for medical applications comprising a main body piece, at least one expansion piece, and at least one, preferably two arm pieces, which may have their own expansion pieces. All of the pieces are preferably made of soft flexible materials. In one embodiment, the pieces are a soft cloth covering containing an internal cushion without an internal rigid frame. In an alternate embodiment the pieces are a soft cloth covering containing an internal cushion with an internal rigid frame. In yet another alternate embodiment, the pieces are a soft cloth covering containing a rigid or quasi-rigid internal frame and covered with a cushioning padding, such as foam rubber, batting or the like. The main body piece is of a generally triangular prismatic shape and has a single concavity in its front face, proximate the intersection of the front face and the back of the main body piece.

  • Patent number: 7309167
Abstract: A ferrule and method are presented that fuses optical fibers, capillaries and the like to ferrules while reducing deformation of the fused component and the ferrule and minimizing stresses within the assembly. Reduced deformation and stress is accomplished by providing high contact angles in a symmetrical, short section of fusion in fusing the component carried by the ferrule to the ferrule. It is particularly applicable to hermetic terminations of polymer clad fiber optics where irregular glass fusion joints cause irregular light leakage at the fiber launch but benefits are significant when used for other fiber and capillary architectures as well.
