Patent number: 5040664Abstract: This invention relates to a shavings conveyor having a reversing contactor for protecting the drive assembly (1) of the shaving conveyor from undue wear caused by the overloading of the shavings conveyor. When the conveyor becomes overloaded, a torque support beam (12), which is attached to the housing of the drive assembly (1), is caused to rotate. A threaded rod (15) is attached at one end to the beam (12) and moves with the displacement of beam (12). An L-shaped chip (20), mounted to the opposite end of threaded rod (15) and having a control cam (21) attached thereon, is moved with the threaded rod (15) so that the control cam (21) attached thereto engages a control switch (22). As the control switch (22) is activated, it signals the motor of the drive assembly to briefly reverse the direction of movement of the shavings conveyor so as to disperse the accumulation of shavings.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1990Date of Patent: August 20, 1991Assignee: Gebr. Patent number: 5035673Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for automatically halving and processing the breasts and backs of poultry carcasses while the carcasses are still moving along a poultry processing line. The carcasses are pulled along the length of an internal guide rail (29) for processing. A rotary halving blade (48) positioned initially below the internal guide rail (29) is movable upwardly to engage and cut the breast into halves. After the breast has been split in half by the rotary halving blade (42), a pair of rotary separator blades (48) cut through the back of the carcass between the breast and thighs of the carcass to separate the breast and upper back from the legs, thighs and lower back of the carcass. A pair of back removal blades (61) positioned above the internal guide rail (29), the rotary separator blades (48) removes the upper backbone from the breast.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1990Date of Patent: July 30, 1991Inventor: Jacobus R. Patent number: 5029652Abstract: An apparatus for aerating turf including a mounting frame (11) for mounting the apparatus to the hydraulic lift system (12) of a utility tractor. A trailer support frame (13) is pivotably mounted to the mounting frame (11) so as to enable the trailer support frame (13) to tilt toward and away from engagement with the turf. A plurality of rotary hoes (39) are supported within the trailer support frame (13) along a drive shaft (41). The drive shaft (41) is rotated by the power take-off (44) of the tractor, and causes the rotary hoes (39) to vibrate as the tines (58) of the rotary hoes (39) penetrate the soil so as to aerate the turf without causing compaction of the soil.Type: GrantFiled: March 5, 1990Date of Patent: July 9, 1991Inventor: Carroll J. Patent number: 5027936Abstract: A coin slide [10] is provided having an apparatus for rejecting magnetic coins and magnetic slugs and comprises a housing [11], a mounting flange [12] and a track [16]. A slide or carrier [21] is slidably received within the track [16] and has slots [23] for carrying coins standing vertically on edge along a horizontal coin path. A cylindrical permanent magnet [33] is positioned above the coin path for lifting magnetic coins and magnetic slugs at least partly out of the coin path to prevent the slide from carrying the coins farther along the coin path. An elongated cylindrical stop [34] provides a positive barrier against which magnetic coins and slugs which have been lifted by the magnet can engage to prevent further insertion of the slide [21].Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1989Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Inventor: Timothy E. Patent number: 5025773Abstract: An arrow rest for use with an archery bow comprises a mounting member attached to the bow handle and extending rearwardly thereof and a yoke adjustably and pivotably mounted to the rear end portion of the mounting member. The yoke defines a radially accesible opening having a central axis and a pair of pedestals are mounted to the yoke extending into the opening with the pedestals positioned to support an arrow. A resilient retaining member extends into the opening in substantially opposing relationship relative to the pedestals. The resilient retaining member is positioned to limit lateral movement of an arrow extending along the central axis of the yoke so that the arrow is maintained in the arrow rest prior to and during launch. The resilient retaining member flexes to one side in response to movement of an arrow into the arrow rest to allow the arrow to fall into place on the pedestals, whereupon the retaining member returns to its unflexed configuration to maintain the arrow in place.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1988Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Inventors: Kurt Hintze, Keith Hacker

Patent number: 5018462Abstract: Transport plate (28) is moved downwardly into engagement with work product (25) and the plate (28) moves the work product to the edge finisher, such as sewing head (12) (FIG. 3). When the first edge (68) covers the first sensor (61), the transport plate (28) begins its movement from right to left (FIG. 4) so as to move the first edge (28) through the edge finisher, and the edge is finished as with an overedge stitch. When the second edge (69) uncovers the second sensor (62), the transport plate (28) rotates around an axis of rotation (75) (FIG. 5), causing the work product (25) to be rotated about the same axis of rotation (75) and the edge finisher forms the overedge stitch about the curved path until the second edge (69) covers first sensor (61), whereupon the linear right to left movement is resumed (FIG. 7).Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1989Date of Patent: May 28, 1991Assignee: Sew Simple Systems, Inc.Inventor: Charles E. Patent number: 5019013Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for automatically halving and processing the breasts and backs of poultry carcasses while the carcasses are still moving along a poultry processing line. The carcasses are passed along the processing line through a V-shaped separator blade 26 which separates the saddle portion of the carcass from the breast and back of the carcass. The breast and back of the carcass are then pulled along the length of an internal guide rail 32 by a pair of chain conveyors 33 for processing. A large rotary halving blade 43 positioned below the internal guide rail 32 is movable upward to initially cut only the breast of the carcass and further upward to separate the entire carcass in half. A pair of back removal blades 46 positioned above the internal guide rail 32 following the rotary halving blade 43 can be lowered to remove the backbone from the carcass if the halving blade 43 is not fully raised to separate the entire poultry carcass.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1990Date of Patent: May 28, 1991Inventor: Jacobus E. Hazenbroek
