    Abstract: A fluid-jet printhead has a substrate having at least one layer defining a fluid chamber for ejecting fluid. The printhead also includes a resistive layer disposed between the fluid chamber and the substrate wherein the fluid chamber has a smooth planer surface between the fluid chamber and the substrate. The printhead has a conductive layer disposed between the resistive layer and the substrate wherein the conductive layer and the resistive layer are in direct parallel contact. The conductive layer forms at least one void creating a planar resistor in the resistive layer. The planar resistor is aligned with the fluid chamber.

    Abstract: A charger for a battery includes a power source and a control circuit. The battery has an internal resistance, at least one cell having a recommended charge voltage, and an aggregate recommended charge voltage. The power source is capable of providing an applied voltage and charge current to the battery. The control circuit is connected to the power source and is capable of detecting the applied voltage of the battery and enabling the charge current and applied voltage to the battery until the applied voltage is greater than the aggregate recommended charge voltage by an amount less than the product of the internal resistance and the charge current. The control circuit is capable of reducing the applied voltage towards the aggregate recommended charge voltage at a controlled rate such that the recommended charge voltage of the at least one cell is not exceeded.

    Abstract: A process for creating and an apparatus employing shaped orifices in a semiconductor substrate. A first layer of material is applied on the semiconductor substrate then a second layer of material is then applied upon the first layer of material. An orifice image is then transferred to the first layer of material and a fluid-well image is transferred to the second layer of material. That portion of the second layer of material where the orifice image is located is then developed along with that portion of the first layer of material where the fluid well is located to define an orifice in the substrate.

One purpose of adjusting the voltage is to modify the effective channel mobility such that the individual channel currents are substantially constant over a predetermined operating temperature range of the IC. The modification of channel mobility is chosen to set the individual channel currents at levels that either maximizes operating speed, minimizes power consumption, extends the range of operating temperature, or increases the operational reliability of the IC.

    Abstract: A computer has a central processing unit, memory and an I/O subsystem. The I/O subsystem is linked to a mass storage device having a first partition, and a second partition containing a hibernation data storage area. The mass storage device further includes a partition table which indicates that the first partition is active to boot the computer and that the second partition is not active. The computer also has logic using the I/O subsystem to select which partition is to be used to boot the computer. The memory contains a program, in response to the logic to select the partition, which is capable of reading the partition table of the mass storage device and modifying it so that the selected partition is presented as active to the CPU for booting the computer.

A layer of graded dielectric material is deposited on the semiconductor substrate. The patterned photoimagable material is developed to unveil the graded dielectric material which is then anisotropically etched. The bore in the graded dielectric material is then isotropically etched to complete the creation of holes in the substrate.

    Abstract: An inkjet storage container sealing mechanism includes a cover, a receptacle, a gasket compressed normal to its insertion and a support member to maintain a seal that is resistant to ink and air penetration. The receptacle has sidewalls that form an opening. A gasket is stretched over a portion the cover, then the gasket and the portion of the cover is inserted into the opening of the receptacle. The gasket forms a seal between the cover and the receptacle. The compressive forces acting on the gasket to form the seal do not contribute additional forces to a mechanical joining mechanism, which attaches the cover to the receptacle. The support member prevents the sidewalls of the receptacle from deflecting to help maintain the seal.
