    Abstract: An insulated roofing system is provided in which a waterproof membrane is applied to the roof deck. Extruded panels of closed cell polystyrene foam are provided on top of the membrane, thus protecting the membrane from thermal cycling, ultraviolet rays, and physical damage. The foam panels provide excellent insulation and are substantially impervious to water. The foam panels are extruded and are provided on the upper surface with integral ribs spaced by grooves. Lightweight reinforced concrete panels are laid directly on top of the polystryene foam and are secured thereto, preferably by adhesive spaced along the ribs. The concrete panels are provided with holes aligned with the grooves between the ribs to provide for ventilation and moisture removal on hot, dry days.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a boiler system in which ash-bearing fuels are fired in horizontal suspension and in which provision is made for the removal of the ash without shutting down or reducing the output of the system. The system comprises an upper water and steam drum and at least one lower water drum. A furnace cavity is located substantially between the upper drum and the lower drum, with the cavity being defined by a pair of side walls, a front wall, a rear wall, a ceiling and a floor. Means in the form of openings in the floor of the furnace cavity are located near the rear wall of the furnace cavity for permitting ash to be removed from the boiler system without requiring the shutting down or the reduction of the output of the boiler system.

Vapor in the form of heated live steam is sprayed against the blood in the stirrer to coagulate a protein in the serum. The blood containing the coagulated protein and water, and other substances are dehydrated to form a solid product containing water. This product is divided into fine particles, and these particles are dried to form blood powder having a water content of about 15%.

First and second spaced apart aligning pins extend through the body portion and include projecting flange-engaging pin ends positioned for alignment with an adjacent pair of through apertures in the flange. Resilient springs urge the aligning pins in a predetermined direction for encouraging positive engagement of the flange-engaging pin ends with the through apertures.

    Abstract: A hinge with a left-hand side flap plate and a right-hand side flap plate, each of which has no tubular portion for receiving a shaft bar. Each side flap plate has on its end at least one shaft plate having at least one communication hole and at least one semicircular locking hole. The semicircular holes come in contact with each other to form a circular portion when the shaft plates of the right and left flap plates are fitted together. In this circular portion a ball having a washer is fitted. The shaft plates, communication holes and the ball are covered with core shafts communicating with the opposite surface of the shaft plates. The core shafts are made of synthetic resin or die casting alloy.

    Abstract: A locking device is disclosed, which is locked when a spike secured to the back surface of a door is pushed once and is released when the spike is pushed once again. The locking device comprises a case open at one end and having a wall provided with a spring portion having an end projection, a lock member slidably accommodated in the case for movement away from and toward the open end and having a pair of locking pawls, a spring for urging the lock member toward the open end of the case at all times, and a cam member provided between the lock member and an end wall of the case and having a lateral ridge formed on one surface and received in a lateral groove of the lock member, the cam member being provided on the other surface with a uni-directional looped path, the projection of the case being slidably engaged in the path. When the lock member is pushed, the projection of the base is caused to trace the looped path to bring about a locked state and an unlocked state.

The poppet valve has a valve seat which, together with a portion of the housing, defines a variable valve area. The piston has a piston area, relatively greater than the variable valve area, for modulating flow through, and pressure drop across, the poppet valve. The pressure relief valve preferably includes an orifice disposed within the housing for selectively controlling flow of hydraulic fluid through the housing passageways to the piston. The housing preferably includes an elongated cage within which the poppet valve is longitudinally slidable.
