  • Patent number: 4603370
Abstract: A power-saving relay circuit for reducing power consumption from a power supply comprises a relay including a selectively energizable relay coil, a plurality of movable contactors, and a plurality of fixed contacts including first and second fixed contacts associated with each of the movable contactors. Each of the movable contactors is normally in electrical contact with the first fixed contact and responsive to energization of the relay coil for breaking the electrical contact with the first fixed contact and for making electrical contact with the second fixed contact. A current limiting circuit is coupled in electrical series circuit intermediate a selected one of the second fixed contacts and the relay coil. The movable contactor associated with the selected one of the second fixed contacts is capable of being coupled in circuit with the power supply for completing an electrical circuit through the current limiting circuit for energizing the relay coil.

  • Patent number: 4602828
Abstract: A housing device for a remote control unit for a TV set or video cassette recorder has an outer case with an internal space opening to the front for insertion and removal of the control unit and a slide member with means for engaging with the control unit is provided within the outer case so as to be slidable in the inward and outward directions. To the rear of the slide member is provided a crank-shaped equalizer which extends widthwise across the rear of the slide member in abutment therewith and is rotatably supported on the opposite side walls of the outer case. The equalizer is connected with a rotary damper having a stopper mechanism which serves to constantly retain the slide member in the fully retracted position. When the slide member is in the fully retracted position, the control unit engaged with the slide member is retained with its front face substantially flush with the opening at the front of the outer case.

  • Patent number: 4601603
Abstract: A ball joint in which the ball of a ball stud is accommodated in an accommodating section of a socket. The accommodating section has an annular seat on which a stopper is provided and a cap to be fitted in the accommodating section has another stopper. The two stoppers are received in a gap in an elastic ring-like member mounted in the annular seat such that a turning of the cap will increase the width of the gap to increase the diameter of the elastic ring-like member. In this state, the ball of the ball stud can be accommodated in the accommodating section of the socket.

  • Patent number: 4602171
Abstract: An inhalation transducer circuit is provided for use with a transducer having a variable electrical output. Early amplifier stages provide very high gain, and are subsequently a.c. coupled to stages of lesser gain leading to a microprocessor and an output. An electronic switch is connected to the a.c. coupling circuit, and when no breathing is being measured and there is no output to the amplification circuit this switch is periodically closed to connect a reference voltage to the a.c. coupling, and thus to compensate for any DC drift in the transducer and early amplification stages.

  • Patent number: 4600281
Abstract: The invention relates to substituting for an original sound track of a motion picture a new sound track in a different language while at the same time correcting the lip movements of actors in the film to correspond to the new language. The method makes use of selected equipment, such as a digital video image processor, a video display, a programmed digital computer, and selected data on a frame-by-frame basis as to mouth location, mouth shape, mouth movements, etc. of the actor on the film and the frame-by-frame photographed mouth area of the new actor supplying the new language sound. The computer cooperates with the image processor to effect the alteration in the lip shapes by varying the intensities of the video pixels in the facial area on the film in accordance with the data and the program in the computer, whereby the new sound track with correct lip movements may be substituted for the original sound track.

  • Patent number: 4598598
Abstract: A setting device for the conformal positioning of, for instance, a working member on a robot, has a driving motor and a reduction gearing. The latter consists of at least one spindle drive which moves a steel band or the like which is disposed around the take-off shaft and which is pretensioned against the torque applied by the tensioning means. The pretensioning can be applied by a spindle drive opposingly running in the same direction. Furthermore or alternatively it is possible to apply the pretensioning by spring force which acts on the steel band or steel bands.

  • Patent number: 4598496
Abstract: Disclosed here is a lid moving mechanism for use with a storage bin. A hinge arm is pivoted at one end to a fixed point on the bin top, and a free end is attached, by a boom, to the lid. A jack device rotates the hinge arm and lid between opened and closed positions. The jack takes the form of a tube, within which is fixed an open-center helical spindle. A turning tube is inserted into this spindle, and a pin engages the spindle windings. When the turning tube is rotated, it is drawn into or forced out of the helical spindle and jack tube, and the hinge arm is correspondingly moved. An extension is attached to the turning tube so that the jack can be operated, and the lid moved, from a remote location.

  • Patent number: 4597577
Abstract: A golf club assembly system is provided for a golf club including, a shaft having a grip at one end and an opposite free end, and a club head having a hosel affixed to the shaft by a bonding agent, the grip preferably having indicia for alignment with a predetermined portion of the club head. The assembly system comprises: a projecting pin on either the hosel or the shaft free end, and a slot on the other of said hosel or shaft free end for receiving the pin. The slot includes a circumferential stop defining a maximum relative rotational movement in one direction between the shaft and head, and said slot also defining the axial position of the club head on the shaft. The pin and the slot are located on the shaft and hosel for causing the intended alignment of the shaft and for the grip indicia with the intended portion of the club head when the pin is fully advanced with respect to the slot means in both the axial and circumferential directions.

  • Patent number: 4598279
Abstract: A pressure monitor is provided for gas pressure supplied to a patient. The monitor includes a pair of spaced contacts in the form of crank arms. A spring member is fixed at one end and is deflectable by a pneumatic cushion supplied with air from the gas supplied to a patient. The pneumatic cushion interacts with the resiliency of the spring member to urge the spring member to an intermediate position between a pair of fixed contacts. Too low a gas pressure will permit the spring member to engage one contact, while too high a gas pressure will cause the spring member to engage the other contact. Closure of the spring member against either contact energizes a respective alarm. In addition, there is provided a preset pneumatic-electrical switch connected to an oxygen supply line to indicate low oxygen pressure.

  • Patent number: 4593957
Abstract: In a rolling bearing for rectilinear movement which is made by thin steel plates, the thickness of thin steel plates of table and bed are set to be thicker than those of conventional ones in order to provide rigidity, then the steel plates are formed due to press forming so as to have U-shaped cross sections. Track grooves each having a V-cross section are formed in the side walls of the table and bed. The V-shaped track grooves are subjected to cutting work and heat treatment and thereafter they are ground in order to improve the accuracy. Thus, it is possible to provide a cheap and light-weight rolling bearing for rectilinear movement which has high accuracy and high rigidity and is fitted for mass production.

  • Patent number: 4592462
Abstract: An article infeed unit includes a plurality of carrier pocket devices movable to and away from an article delivery station, and a confronting receiver pocket is mounted at the delivery station. The receiver pocket has upstanding sides, and the sides are partly defined by vertical margins confronting the carrier pocket. On demand, a spreader cam operates to spread the receiver pocket side margins apart from one another, so as to accommodate passage of the articles from the carrier pocket into the receiving pocket. At the bottom of the receiving pocket, a base plate is inserted, and the inserted articles rest upon this base member. After the spreader cam is withdrawn, the receiver pocket sides close around the articles. Thereafter, the base plate is withdrawn, and the received articles to descend through the receiver pocket toward a processing device.
