    Abstract: A clip 12 for releasably holding a socket 22 in engagement with a plug 14 soldered to a circuit board 19 is described. The clip 12 includes a pair of legs 30 spaced the width of the plug. Adjacent ends of the legs 30 define locking prongs 34 for engaging the plug 14 and the remaining ends of the clip have opposing notches 41 for engaging the socket. A brace 32 holds the legs in alignment. The brace 32 includes a pair of arms 44 which limit relative movement of the clip 12 with respect to the circuit board 19. A pair of opposing fingers 48 define an access opening 50 in combination with the circuit card to facilitate alignment between the plug 14 and socket 22.

    Abstract: A radiation shield 14 for a cathode ray tube 10 neck 16 includes a sleeve 24 of insulating material. Bonded to the inner surface 26 of the sleeve 24 are a plurality of elongated, coaxially oriented spaced conductive elements 30. Similarly, a plurality of elongated, coaxially oriented spaced conductive elements 32 are bonded to the outer surface 28 of the sleeve 24. The inner elements 30 are offset from the outer elements 32. A conductive ring 40 is connected to each of the inner 30 and outer 32 elements along one end of the sleeve 24 and to ground potential by a drain strap 44.

    Abstract: An apparatus for mounting a mirror 20 is described which includes a flat mounting plate 10 having a rectangular mirror opening 12. Positioned about the mirror opening 12 are spaced rectangularly shaped holes 18. Placed against the bottom wall 26 of a "U" shaped channel 22 is a sheet of foam material 34 upon which the back of a front surface mirror 20 is placed. The edges of the walls 28, 30 of the "U" shaped channel have tabs 32 which are placed into the holes 18. The tabs 32 are bent over or deformed to secure the channel 22 and mirror 20 to the mounting plate 10.

    Abstract: The drive shaft 30 of a printer 10 engages a tractor 16 which, in turn, moves a paper web 12 across a print mechanism 14. Located on the drive shaft 30 is a drive shaft advance cam 78 which is fixed to drive the shaft 30 and rotate therewith. Additionally, located upon the drive shaft 30 for limited rotational movement with respect to the drive shaft advance cam 78 is a paper advance cam 90. The shape of the drive shaft cam 78 is similar to the shape of the paper advance cam 90. The paper advance cam 90 carries an O-ring 102 defining a high frictional surface for engaging the paper web 12. The door 50 of the tractor 16 carries a paper pressure roller 104 having a circumferential groove 106 positioned for cooperation with the O-ring 102. During normal paper web 12 drive, the cams 78, 90 are out of registration and rotate in unison.

    Abstract: A digital voltage comparator is illustrated including a cross-coupled latch 10 having input nodes 12 and 14. After the input nodes 12 and 14 of the latch 10 have been respectively preloaded to the input A and reference E voltage levels during the active state of clock phase .phi..sub.1, the latch is allowed to arrive at a stable state during the active state of clock phase .phi..sub.2. Thereafter, when clock phase .phi..sub.3 is active, the output of the latch 10 is coupled to the input of a single stage shift register 20. The output of the shift register 20 is fed to inverters 22 and 26 and through a voltage divider for preloading the node 14 of the latch 10 during the next active state of clock phase .phi..sub.1.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a device in a wafer with a P-type semiconductor, includes forming on a surface of the semiconductor body a layer of silicon dioxide doped with an N-type dopant. The portion of the doped silicon dioxide covering the interconnect work site area is removed and a masking layer of an oxidation impervious medium is formed over the wafer and thereafter removed from the field areas, as is the doped silicon dioxide layer. A thin layer of gate oxide is formed over the field areas. A layer of conductive polysilicon is formed over the entire wafer followed by a layer of oxygen impervious masking medium. The conductive polysilicon and masking medium layers are removed from all areas of the wafer except those whereat transistors are to be formed. The wafer is exposed to an oxidizing environment under an elevated temperature producing a field oxide over the exposed gate oxide.

    Abstract: A tractor 10 is disclosed for engaging and advancing a web of paper 20 by engaging a series of holes 21 along an edge of the paper 20. The tractor 10 includes a pair of parallel side plates 12, 14 and an elongated guide member 32 defining a continuous guide track 34. The guide member 32 is positioned between the side plates 12, 14 so as to define a continuous guide channel 36 in cooperation with the guide plates 12, 14. The tractor 10 also includes a drive belt assembly 22 comprising a continuous belt 62 carrying a plurality of spaced drive members 38 adapted to engage the holes 21 along the edge of the paper 20. A drive sprocket 33 located at one end of the guide channel 36 engages the drive members 38. Each guide member 38 has a hemicylindrically shaped base 64 with a notch 66 therein, thereby defining two parallel edges 67 which ride along the guide track 34. Additionally, each drive member 38 includes a drive pin 80, the profile of the surface of the drive pin 80 has the shape of a segment of an involute.

    Abstract: The drive mechanism for a paper tape punch and reader assembly utilizes tape drive assemblies which move the paper tape in response to the application of continuous periodic motion and control signals. The periodic motion serves to oscillate a rocker plate between first and second limits and the control signls serve to selectively engage and disengage a detent which effects coupling between the drive shaft and the source of periodic motion. The periodic motion is imparted to the drive assembly by a connecting link which in turn is driven by an adjustable eccentric.The eccentric comprises a pulley plate which is fixed to a shaft. A circular body is adjustably movable with respect to the pulley plate and is arranged to engage the race of a ball bearing assembly which further comprises balls and a retaining ring. The connecting link has a circular opening which provides a snug fit to the exterior of the retaining ring.

    Abstract: A shift register is described particularly adapted for selectively controlling the energization of the windings of a stepping motor so as to provide selective overlapping phase energization. The shift register consists of four stages each having master and slave sections with each stage controlling the energization of an associated motor winding. A shift register control unit, responsive to stepping and directional signals, directs the shifting of information between the various stages of the shift register. In response to a step high input signal, a high level of one shift register stage is shifted in a selected direction to the adjacent stage with both stages directing the energization of their respective motor windings. Similarly, in response to a step low signal the low levels of the shift register stages are shifted in a selected direction to their adjacent stages causing the deenergization of the respective motor windings.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing devices in a semiconductor body 20 of a first conductivity type. An oxygen impervious masking medium 22 is placed on the body 20. Portions of the medium 22 are removed to define field areas 31 and field oxide is formed in the field areas. The surface of the silicon wafer 23 is thereafter masked to define gate areas 26 and electrical contact areas 30. The exposed medium is removed and the exposed body areas doped to form interconnect runs 28 and a source/drain region 29 of a second conductivity type. An oxide 48, 50 is formed over the doped interconnect runs and source/drain regions of the wafer. The masking medium covering the contact area 30 is removed and the contact area is doped to a second conductivity type. Finally conductors 60, 61 are positioned to provide the desired electrical connections.

    Abstract: A connector block body of nonconductive material has a row of spaced open cavities. Within each cavity there is mounted an insulation displacement connector in the form of a metallic cylinder having a longitudinal slit. One wall of each of the cavities has a first slot extending from the cavity opening. The width of the first slot is slightly less than the diameter of the insulated wire for which the connector block is designed. A stuffer cap, which is attached to the block by a tether, has an open cavity. Mounted within the cavity of the cap is a post for engaging and forcing an insulated wire into the slit of the connector. Additionally, one wall of the cap has a slot and a cooperating nib which engage the wire and force it in the first slot wherein the wire is tightly grasped to prevent strain. In a second embodiment of the invention, a flat plate, bifurcated to define a restricted slit, is used as the connector.

    Abstract: Portions of a doped silicon body 22 are covered with an oxide dielectric 26 leaving the active areas 25 on the silicon body exposed. A polysilicon layer 28 having a predetermined resistance characteristic is formed over the entire wafer surface followed by a layer of silicon nitride 30. Selected portions of the silicon nitride layer 30 are removed with the nitride remaining over the source/drain regions 36 of the active area and the locations of first level conductor runs 32. The exposed polysilicon 28 is converted to an oxide and the silicon nitride 30, covering the source/drain regions 36 and the first level conductor runs, is removed. The exposed polysilicon is doped forming source/drain diffusions 46 and first level conductors 32. An oxide dielectric 52 is formed over the wafer 20 and removed from the gate areas 56 followed by the formation of a thin gate dielectric 54. Finally the oxide 52 is removed at the interconnect work sites and second level conductors 58, 60 are formed.

    Abstract: Incoming diphase signals E which have base bit intervals delineated by spaced clocking signals with data information occurring between the clocking signals are fed to a four bit shift register 10 which in cooperation with an exclusive OR-gate 14 generates a pulse D for each diphase signal E transition. Upon receipt of a preamble comprising four diphase signal transitions, a shift register 16 provides a signal MSR which initiates the decoding of the following data information. A counter 24 stores counts related to the time intervals between each two successive clocking signals and counters 26 and 28 store a count related to an immediately subsequent time period which is three-fourths of the time interval. The occurrence of data information is sensed by a logic array 20 during successive time periods and a non-return to zero mark-space output signal K is stored in a flip-flop 22. The logic array 20 continually updates the counts stored by the counters 24, 26-28.

    Abstract: The disclosure describes a cable clamp which will adapt to and hold firmly cables of various diameters. The clamp includes a "U" shaped body member having a base from which parallel legs project. The outer surface of each of the legs carries a row of teeth. A keeper having a flat plate defining two spaced rectangular openings is placed into engagement with the legs. Relative movement between the plate and the legs is inhibited by the teeth engaging the edges of the openings. Carried on the plate and projecting toward the base of the body member are parallel walls which define angled edges. The edges cam a cable placed between the legs firmly against the base and one leg of the body member.

    Abstract: A cathode ray tube deflection circuit is described which selects between two display formats in response to a format control signal. A horizontal deflection portion includes the primary winding of a flyback transformer resonant with a horizontal deflection yoke. Switches are connected across a portion of the primary winding and across portions of the yoke. A logic unit, in response to the control signal, actuates each of the switches to change the resonant frequency of the horizontal deflection circuit. The logic unit correspondingly changes the frequency of the horizontal drive signal and the amplitude of the vertical sweep.

    Abstract: A circuit for detecting the relative time of occurrence of first and second signals applied to first and second terminals includes a pair of bistable flip-flops. In response to the occurrence first of the first signal the first one of the flips-flops is set to initiate the generation of a control signal. A time delay responds to the control signal and upon expiration of the time delay interval the second one of the flip-flops is set and this in turn resets the first flip-flop to terminate the control signal. In response to the first occurrence first of the second signal the second one of the flip-flops is set and this inhibits the setting of the first flip-flop. In the event that the first and second signals occur simultaneously the second flip-flop sets quickly resetting the first flip-flop. In response to either signal, a conductive path is established between the terminals.

    Abstract: A silicon body (10) of a first conductivity type is covered with a sandwich of silicon dioxide (12), polycrystalline silicon (14) and silicon nitride (16). Source, drain, and interconnect work sites of the body are exposed by a first photoshaping operation. The work sites are doped forming regions (21, 22, 23) of a second conductivity type. Silicon dioxide (24, 26, 28) is grown over the work sites. A second photoshaping operation provides an opening 36. The walls of the opening 36 on two opposite sides comprise sides of the sandwich layer as established by the first photoshaping operation and the two remaining walls comprise sides of the silicon dioxide as established by the second photoshaping operation. Silicon nitride (44) is next deposited over the entire wafer (15) which is then photoshaped to define the field regions (46, 48). The etching process is continued to remove part of the silicon body as well as the sides of those exposed regions.
