Abstract: Hurlable, water rescue aid 10 comprising an initially collapsed, gas-inflatable buoyancy element 12, a ball-shaped bracket 24 supporting the buoyancy element in collapsed condition generally within the locus of the bracket, a compressed gas supply 32 within the bracket for inflating said element, a penetrating tip 40, adapted to release the gas supply from the cylinder in advance of hurling the aid toward a person to be rescued, and passageways 52 metering flow of released gas from the supply into the buoyancy element, whereby the buoyancy element is substantially collapsed at the commencement of flight but substantially inflated at the termination of flight for use by the person.
Abstract: Two axis shaker vibration of a slip plate is achieved by use of angularly disposed shakers of novel design, each being provided with an armature cantilevered from the slip plate and free to laterally translate at the same time they drive the slip plate. Pivoting moments are converted to linear motion by a torsionally stiff flexure support for the slip plate.
Abstract: An acoustic assembly adapted to receive a loudspeaker comprising an enclosed housing having an area defining a loudspeaker port and an area defining at least one sound port, the loudspeaker port being adapted to mount the loudspeaker substantially outside of the housing in a sealed relationship to the front of the housing, the loudspeaker directing sound into the housing, and, each of the sound ports having a cross-sectional area less than the cross-sectional area of the loudspeaker port so that the pressure of the sound energy emitted at the loudspeaker becomes increased when emitted through at least one of the sound ports.
Abstract: A microprocessor controlled hydrocolloid conditioner comprising a frame, a bath tank separably supported by said frame for containing water heated to a pre-determined temperature useful in the conditioning of hydrocolloid material, heating means comprising a power supply and a heating element disposed within the bath, and a microprocessor interfaced with a triac control circuit for turning on and off the heating means responsive to command from the microprocessor such that boiling cycles are automatically commenced and terminated, holding and tempering baths are readily set and the dentist is signalled the status and readiness of hydrocolloid at all times in each of multiple function bath tanks.
Abstract: A test set designed for testing meter reading units as well as telephone line connections for automatic utility meter reading systems. The test set is capable of simulating the meter reading apparatus when testing the telephone line and of simulating the telephone line when testing the meter reading components. The test set further simulates the receiving apparatus in the central office to test the combination of the meter reading apparatus and the telephone line. The test set is self powered by batteries or may be powered from conventional AC outlets. The test set is operative both in the telephone plant and in the field.
Abstract: A tote 10 comprises a rack 12 and a strap assembly 14. The rack 12 has a generally rectangular wall portion 32 and a foot 50 projecting outwardly therefrom to support a load held to the rack wall portion by the several webs 16 and plates 18, 20 of the strap assembly. Handle 52 is offset from the plane of the wall portion 32 and cantilevered over the center of the foot 50 for balancing the load in the user's hand.
Abstract: A combined guitar and bass guitar employing a common body, neck and finger board and more significantly employing two common strings to provide both instruments employing a total of eight strings.
Abstract: Ceiling hanger clip 20 installation is facilitated by carrying a standard clip fastener firing gun 16 on an extended handle 12 having means 86, 98, for tripping the gun trigger 28 responsive to thrusting thereof against the ceiling.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for the high speed, high volume making of coffee by preheating then superheating water, mixing with a liquid coffee concentrate and balancing heat demands throughout the apparatus to enable preheating of the receiving urn, storing of heat as steam beyond the boiler, and return of that steam to the boiler responsive to pressure drop caused by differential flow rates into and from the boiler, to enable rapid recovery of the boiler and rapid making of large quantities of coffee.
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for separating a plurality of radio frequency signals, comprising N number of signal collectors, each signal collector receiving the plurality of signals from a location different than the other signal collectors, and N being an integer from 2 to infinity; N number of transmission means, each transmission means conducting the signals received from one signal collector; and, N (N-1) number of signal cancellation means, each signal cancellation means having reference, error input and output lines, the reference line coupled to one transmission means and the error and output lines coupled to another transmission means; the signal cancellation means and transmission means being interconnected so that each transmission means is coupled to the output and error lines of N-1 signal cancellation means and the reference line of N-1 other signal cancellation means, and no signal cancellation means having the same transmission means coupled to their output and reference lin
Abstract: An improved buckle for a child's safety car seat in which a release plate normally bears against a center plate, within an enclosing housing, to receive in locking relation hasp tips having opening cooperating with bosses on the release plate. The housing is configured to avoid cocking or blocking of the hasp tips on insertion, and to bias the housing covering the bail portion of the buckle against peeling away to expose the metal to the harness straps connecting the buckle to the child's car seat.
Abstract: A nebulizer comprising of an elongated body including a nebulized fluid emission opening at one end with a nebulizer fluid reservoir communicating with the opening and a fluid barrier means adjacent to the opening. A wick extends between the reservoir and barrier for conveying nebulizer fluid to the barrier region from the reservoir. A source of pressurized gas is within a housing along with a means for conveying the pressurized gas to the wick in the region of the barrier. The conveying means includes a perforated section which extends into the region of the wick and through the barrier. The pressurized gas traverses the conducting means and aspirates the nebulizer fluid during passage through the barrier. The perforated section is a helical spring and the wick is a carpet-like fabric. A novel form of perforated barrier in the form of a closely spaced helical spring is enclosed. A novel filter formed from a knurled rod within a passage also is disclosed.
Abstract: A hand-carryable flying sailboat for kite and water sports in which a lightweight rigid frame supports an airfoil-defining fabric stretched over the frame for flying and a sail assembly is carried dorsally by the frame and enables sail propulsion of the craft, whereby the craft can perform in the water or in the air, alternately and continually.
