Abstract: A stringed instrument, such as an acoustic guitar, includes a sound board, a first back and a side positioned between the sound board and the first back. The sound board, the first back and the side cooperate to form a sound box. A second back is attached to the stringed instrument in spaced relation to the first back on a side of the sound box opposite the sound board. The second back creates a gap between the sound box and a musician playing the stringed instrument which reduces or eliminates muting and lessening of the string brilliance caused by contact between the first back and a musician playing the stringed instrument in the absence of the second back.
Abstract: An olefin oligomerization catalyst comprises at least one oxide selected from alumina and silica.cndot.alumina having a sulfate ion supported thereon. The amount of the sulfate ion contained in the catalyst is desirably in the range of 0.3 to 60% by weight based on the total weight of the alumina and/or silica.cndot.alumina and the sulfate ion. The olefin oligomerization catalyst can be readily prepared by bringing a sulfuric acid aqueous solution or an ammonium sulfate aqueous solution into contact with at least one compound selected from alumina, silica alumina and their precursors, followed by drying and calcining. Further, an olefin oligomerization catalyst comprises at least one oxide selected from alumina and silica.cndot.alumina on which a transition metal oxide is further supported in addition to the sulfate ion. By the use of the catalyst, a lower olefin produced in, for example, a petroleum refining process can be converted into an oligomer of high value added.

It is preferred that the processing film be a polyethylene naphthalate film whose surface has been subjected to an alkyd release treatment. The present invention facilitates expansion to be conducted after the wafer dicing.

Abstract: A fluid discharge nozzle includes a nozzle tip defining a spout for jetting fluid at a jet angle. Wall surfaces surround the spout and extend downstream with respect to a jetting direction. The wall surfaces contact free surfaces of the fluid jetting out of the spout. Fluid jets produce negative pressure regions inwardly of a forward end surface of the nozzle tip.
Abstract: A can is formed by an overall cylindrical body with a nailed bottom wall and presenting on its superior part and close to an aperture thereof a round fillet which is outwardly turned. The closure of the can is by a metallic, easy-opening lid, formed essentially by a circular panel with a short descending skirt which is provided with a narrow peripheral fillet. The lid includes a sealing gasket on its internal surface and presenting, in the middle of its panel, a circular basin-shaped depression with a central hollow which is closed by a resinous, thermoplastic, detachable seal. The present improvements provide a new configuration for the superior part of the can body, by which the referred skirt of the lid and its respective fillet are inwardly spaced in relation to the side wall of the cylindrical body of the can, in such a way to eliminate any possibility of mounting or overlapping of the peripheral fillets of adjacent cans, whenever the cans are grouped or placed side by side.
Abstract: A silicon-on-insulator chip has a location recess formed therein for receiving a laser diode. The location recess includes two non-parallel location surfaces adapted to abut against two reference surfaces formed on the laser diode. The abutment of the location surfaces against the reference surfaces enables a laser emission area of the laser diode to be accurately aligned with a rib waveguide formed on the silicon-on-insulator substrate.

Abstract: A modular rail system for positioning a six axis robot about an auxiliary axis includes a plurality of rail sections which are selectively interconnected in order to provide a reconfigurable length about the auxiliary axis, and the six axis robot for movement with respect to the rail sections about the auxiliary axis. The rail sections may include a first end section positioned toward a first end of the auxiliary axis, a second end section positioned toward a second end of the auxiliary axis, and one or more intermediate sections positioned between the first and second end sections. The first end section, the intermediate sections and the second end section are interconnected along the auxiliary axis.
Abstract: The invention relates to a machine frame for the meat processing industry, which can be assembled at least partly from tube profile parts, which tube profile parts can be loaded and the outside of which comprises at least one guide surface for guiding machine parts. The invention also relates to a tube profile for assembling such a machine frame. Using the machine frame and the tube profile according to the invention it is possible to assemble constructions which can be cleaned very easily.

Abstract: An underground propelling method uses a propellant apparatus including a propellant head having a pressure receiving face portion inclined relative to an axis of the head and a plurality of propellant cylinders flexibly and pivotally connected in series to a rear end of the propellant head. The propellant apparatus is propelled under the ground by applying a thrust to the propellant apparatus from behind. Each propellant cylinder of the apparatus is pivotal about a single pivot axis thereof alone. The apparatus is propelled with the pressure receiving face portion thereof being oriented along a pivotal direction of the propellant cylinder about the pivot axis.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a descaling nozzle for removing scales from a metal surface by causing a high-pressure liquid to collide with the metal surface. In the descaling nozzle, the nozzle body includes a concave section formed at a forward end thereof with respect to a liquid jetting direction and having a diameter reducing as it extends downstream with respect to the liquid jetting direction. The forward end has an annular shape integrally surrounding an entire outer circumference of said concave section. The orifice has an outlet opening at a bottom of said concave section around an entire circumference thereof. Thus, the orifice peripheries have high wear resistance against ultrahigh-pressure water and have durability, and can be effectively prevented from damage.
Abstract: A PVC pallet or crate is disclosed, wherein the pallet is made from PVC structural products such as hollow, extruded PVC profiles. The profiles are bonded together using an adhesive. The profiles are preferably surface treated before bonding to enhance the strength of the bond. The PVC structural products preferably incorporate an acrylic polymer impact modifier in a certain amount to greatly increase the toughness of the structural product. The adhesive is preferably a hot-melt moisture-cure polyurethane adhesive. The surface treatment is preferably achieved by plasma treating or flame treatment. A method for making PVC pallets or crates is also disclosed.
Abstract: A germ-removing filter includes a filter substrate, and an antimicrobial material dispersedly mixed into the filter substrate. The antimicrobial material is antimicrobial fiber bonded with silver ion. The total amount of the silver ions present in the filter substrate material when mixed with the antimicrobial fiber is equivalent to an amount of silver ions contained in an antimicrobial fiber which is mixed at more than 10 wt % in the filter substrate and which has entire exchange groups or bonding groups thereof exchanged or bonded with silver ions. An apparatus using the filter for maintaining a sterile room under sterile condition is also disclosed.

Abstract: Spindles, balusters, and railing posts are injection molded to encase reinforcing rods or tubes. Preferably the rods or tubes are magnetically responsive, which permits them to be held in place by magnets during the molding process.
Abstract: There is disclosed a small-sized automatic biochemical analyzer requiring reduced amounts of reagents. An original sample is transferred to diluting containers on a diluting turntable. The diluted sample is transferred to reaction containers on a reaction turntable and analyzed. The original sample is once diluted. The aliquots of sample are taken from the diluted sample. Thus, a limitation imposed by the minimum volume of liquid that the instrument can meter out can be overcome. Let N be the total number of the diluting containers on the diluting turntable. The turntable is rotated in M pitches at a time. M and N do not have any common factor.
