  • Patent number: 5883317
Abstract: A stringed instrument, such as an acoustic guitar, includes a sound board, a first back and a side positioned between the sound board and the first back. The sound board, the first back and the side cooperate to form a sound box. A second back is attached to the stringed instrument in spaced relation to the first back on a side of the sound box opposite the sound board. The second back creates a gap between the sound box and a musician playing the stringed instrument which reduces or eliminates muting and lessening of the string brilliance caused by contact between the first back and a musician playing the stringed instrument in the absence of the second back.

  • Patent number: 5883036
Abstract: An olefin oligomerization catalyst comprises at least one oxide selected from alumina and silica.cndot.alumina having a sulfate ion supported thereon. The amount of the sulfate ion contained in the catalyst is desirably in the range of 0.3 to 60% by weight based on the total weight of the alumina and/or silica.cndot.alumina and the sulfate ion. The olefin oligomerization catalyst can be readily prepared by bringing a sulfuric acid aqueous solution or an ammonium sulfate aqueous solution into contact with at least one compound selected from alumina, silica alumina and their precursors, followed by drying and calcining. Further, an olefin oligomerization catalyst comprises at least one oxide selected from alumina and silica.cndot.alumina on which a transition metal oxide is further supported in addition to the sulfate ion. By the use of the catalyst, a lower olefin produced in, for example, a petroleum refining process can be converted into an oligomer of high value added.

  • Patent number: 5881897
Abstract: A can is formed by an overall cylindrical body with a nailed bottom wall and presenting on its superior part and close to an aperture thereof a round fillet which is outwardly turned. The closure of the can is by a metallic, easy-opening lid, formed essentially by a circular panel with a short descending skirt which is provided with a narrow peripheral fillet. The lid includes a sealing gasket on its internal surface and presenting, in the middle of its panel, a circular basin-shaped depression with a central hollow which is closed by a resinous, thermoplastic, detachable seal. The present improvements provide a new configuration for the superior part of the can body, by which the referred skirt of the lid and its respective fillet are inwardly spaced in relation to the side wall of the cylindrical body of the can, in such a way to eliminate any possibility of mounting or overlapping of the peripheral fillets of adjacent cans, whenever the cans are grouped or placed side by side.

  • Patent number: 5878966
Abstract: The present invention relates to a descaling nozzle for removing scales from a metal surface by causing a high-pressure liquid to collide with the metal surface. In the descaling nozzle, the nozzle body includes a concave section formed at a forward end thereof with respect to a liquid jetting direction and having a diameter reducing as it extends downstream with respect to the liquid jetting direction. The forward end has an annular shape integrally surrounding an entire outer circumference of said concave section. The orifice has an outlet opening at a bottom of said concave section around an entire circumference thereof. Thus, the orifice peripheries have high wear resistance against ultrahigh-pressure water and have durability, and can be effectively prevented from damage.

  • Patent number: 5876668
Abstract: There is disclosed a small-sized automatic biochemical analyzer requiring reduced amounts of reagents. An original sample is transferred to diluting containers on a diluting turntable. The diluted sample is transferred to reaction containers on a reaction turntable and analyzed. The original sample is once diluted. The aliquots of sample are taken from the diluted sample. Thus, a limitation imposed by the minimum volume of liquid that the instrument can meter out can be overcome. Let N be the total number of the diluting containers on the diluting turntable. The turntable is rotated in M pitches at a time. M and N do not have any common factor.
