Abstract: Increasingly greater requirements as concerns mechanical strength and gas tightness are placed upon the connection between the sabot tail or rear portion and the sabot jacket of a sabot projectile. To improve such connection the invention contemplates subdividing the prior conventional circumferential groove at the sabot tail or rear portion into a rear sealing groove and a front holding groove. In corresponding fashion the sabot jacket possesses a rear sealing lip or flange which protrudes into the rear sealing groove of the sabot tail or rear portion and a holder rib which protrudes into the front holding groove of the sabot tail or rear portion. According to a particular construction the rear sealing groove possesses mutually parallel side walls which are forwardly inclined with respect to the lengthwise axis of the projectile at an angle of about 75.degree..

Abstract: The gear drive or transmission comprises toothed elements whose radial spacing from a drive shaft can be selectively altered. There are two sets of such toothed elements whose aforementioned radial spacing can be infinitely varied in increments or sets. Each set of the toothed elements has operatively associated therewith at least one planetary gear which always meshes with one of the toothed elements of the associated set. The drive shaft generates, on the one hand, between the toothed elements and each of its associated planetary gear, on the other hand, a relative revolving or orbiting motion. Coacting with each planetary gear is an intermediate gear train which is positively or form-lockingly connected with one of the freely rotatably mounted starting elements of a differential gearing. A compensation element of the differential gearing is rotatably mounted at the end of a radially protruding arm rigidly connected for non-relative rotational movement with the drive shaft.
Abstract: The imbricated product formation is fed to a wind-up location and is wound-up to form a product roll at this location. At the start of the wind-up operation the leading edge or end of the frontmost printed product is rolled back in a direction towards one side or surface of this frontmost printed product. The wind-up of the following printed products in the imbricated product formation is effected in the same product winding direction. At the end of the wind-up operation an elongated holding element or strapping band is laid around the completed product roll which then holds the product roll together and also possibly protects the same. The winding direction is selected in accordance with the predetermined structure of the imbricated product formation and results in a roll-shaped wound product package which, if desired, can be disassembled starting from the center thereof without the holding element or strapping band having to be released.
Abstract: A cradle or bucket chain of an ammunition conveyor system serves to deliver cartridges from an ammunition magazine through a cartridge infeed channel to an automatic firing weapon. The cradle chain is able to easily move through a markedly curved cartridge infeed channel. This cradle chain is constructed such that there is not needed a separate guide track or rail and such that the cartridges can be easily withdrawn from or cammed out of the cradle chain in the vicinity of the automatic firing weapon. For this purpose the individual cradle elements of the cradle chain are each provided with a cartridge infeed cam for infeeding the cartridges to the automatic firing weapon. Each cradle element further possesses a sword or tongue member projecting into a guide groove of the cartridge infeed channel. Additionally, each cradle element of the cradle chain is guided by means of two oppositely situated walls of the cartridge infeed channel.

Abstract: In an externally powered firing weapon the danger exists with an ignition delay or hangfire condition that the cartridge still is ignited after the positively reciprocated breechblock has been unlocked from the weapon barrel. The safety apparatus in accordance with the invention prevents, in case of an ignition delay, firing of the cartridge after unlocking of the positively reciprocated breechblock. Heretofore known safety devices of this type are complicated and a substantially simple design is strived for. The safety apparatus in accordance with the invention automatically decouples the breechblock carrier from the breechblock head when the breechblock head is locked in the weapon barrel. The device responding to an ignition delay prevents unlocking of the breechblock head from the weapon barrel and coupling of the breechblock carrier with the breechblock head.

Abstract: A discoloration in a marginal zone of the cheese or cheese product is produced by locally limited heat or thermal action of predetermined duration and with a treatment temperature between the plasticity temperature and the combustion or burning temperature of the products. In this way there can be effectively applied a marking, such as desired characters or symbols on the cheese or cheese product.
Abstract: The apparatus contains a winding unit for winding up printed products arriving in an imbricated product formation. The winding unit comprises a hollow substantially cylindrical winding core. Upon the outer surface of the winding core there is wound up a winding band. Prior to the start of a product winding-up operation the winding band is unwound from the winding core and wound upon a spool member. Subsequently the winding band is wound up onto the winding core together with the printed products.
Abstract: A chuck for a winding machine has a tube gripping system with rubber or elastomeric springs which generate a bias to press tube gripping elements against the internal surface of a bobbin tube.
Abstract: A caustic alkali solution is concentrated to high density or high caustic alkali concentration by evaporation under high pressure at elevated temperature and expansion of the thus obtained concentrated caustic alkali solution to low pressure, preferably below atmospheric pressure. The pressure difference between the high pressure evaporator and the low pressure expansion vessel is absorbed gradually by a pressure difference absorber, preferably comprising a liquid column in a U-shaped siphon tube, so that corrosion and erosion are reduced considerably.
Abstract: A method of regenerating a membrane-enclosed amperometric or Clark cell having an operative current range for electroanalytical operation limited by a maximum current density of typically not more than 100 .mu.A/cm.sup.2 at the working electrode by subjecting at least one of the probe electrode in contact with a regeneration electrolyte, while the membrane is removed, to a regeneration current for causing a current density in the range of from about 1 to about 1000 mA/cm.sup.2 which is substantially higher, e.g. by a factor of at least 10 and preferably at least 100, than the maximum current density in electroanalytical operation.
Abstract: The adjusting mechanism is used for exerting a force on two components moveable relative to one another and comprises a cylinder, a piston and a piston rod. A guide rod is also provided on the piston and is guided in a guide connection of a bottom cylinder casting. A control piston is displaceably guided in a longitudinal bore of the piston and in a further longitudinal bore of the guide rod. The piston contains transfer ducts, which are either obturated by the control piston or are freed or exposed by a smaller diameter portion of the control piston. An inner cylinder chamber is completely filled with a flowable or fluid grease. As a result, the piston rod can be locked in position by the control piston closing the transfer ducts and, on releasing or opening the latter, the piston rod can be moved. The locking of the adjusting mechanism in a specific position, as is particularly required in the case of tiltable chairs, is consequently facilitated in comparison to known adjusting mechanisms.
Abstract: Two axially spaced contact pieces extend radially inwardly through an opening into a receiving tube provided in a housing and contact end caps of a fuse insert or fuselink, when the latter is in a locked position within the receiving tube. To release the fuse insert, a cradle-like carrier is rotated through an angle of approximately 180.degree., so that the fuse insert together with the end caps thereof are spaced and insulated from the contact pieces by the cradle of the cradle-like carrier. The cradle-like carrier including the fuse insert can now be pulled out of the housing to such an extent that barb-like elements of the cradle-like carrier abut against a stop provided at the housing. The cradle-like carrier retains the receiving tube closed by means of a closure portion of the cradle-like carrier. There is thus ensured absolute electrical shock-proof safety, in other words, there is afforded complete safety against electrical shocks.
Abstract: Between an uppermost roll and a lowermost roll there are arranged intermediate rolls mounted with their axles in levers. These levers extend across the width of the roll stand of the calender and are vertically pivotably suspended at a pivot at the roll stand. Nip relieving devices act upon these levers and are supported at a support defining a support location at the roll stand. Each pivot is arranged at an associated bearing element which is elevationally adjustable and which is located at the rear side of the roll stand remote from the rolls. If the position of the intermediate rolls change in vertical direction, the related bearing elements are correspondingly individually and vertically displaced, so that the levers are brought into an essentially horizontal position at which the axles of the intermediate rolls and the pivots of the related levers are located in each case in a related horizontal plane.
