  • Patent number: 5774733
Abstract: A microcontroller for use in battery charging and monitoring applications is disclosed. The microcontroller includes a microprocessor and various front-end analog circuitry including a slope A/D converter and a multiplexer for allowing a plurality of analog input signals to be converted to corresponding digital counts indicative of signal level. The slope A/D converter includes a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for providing a programmable charging current to generate a voltage across a capacitor, a precision comparator having inputs for receiving a selected analog input and the capacitor voltage, a counter and a capture register. After a reset is performed, the capacitor is charged while the counter begins counting such that when the capacitor voltage exceeds the selected analog input voltage, the comparator switches logic states thereby causing the obtained count of the counter to be stored in the register.

  • Patent number: 5769663
Abstract: A connector housing for accommodating terminals therein includes a housing body having a plurality of cavities, a plurality of flexible lances which are cngageable with the terminals, and a plurality of cavity orifices for allowing the lances to be displaced in a disengagement direction with the terminals. The lance is provided with slanted surfaces for stopping an excessive displacement of the lances. When the terminals are inserted into the cavities, the lances are displaced in the disengagement direction thereby allowing the terminals to enter into the cavities. In the case of withdrawing the terminals from the connector housing, the excessive deformation of the lance can be prevented by the slanted surfaces' interference with the cavity orifice before the lances are bent forcibly, whereby the lances can return to the initial position elastically and securely after a withdrawing operation of the terminals.

  • Patent number: 5769062
Abstract: An injection/mixing device for improving the mixing of fuel and air in a petrol driven internal combustion engine. The device is fitted in the engine inlet manifold close to the fuel inlet from a carburettor or fuel injector and uses a vortex generator. The vortex generator is in the form of an array of lenticular, conical or deltoid disks located in the fuel/air flow and which serve to disperse the impinging fuel droplets and mix the fuel and air. The effect of the device is preferably enhanced by allowing the vortex generator to rotate or spin about its axis. This rotation is achieved by means of a turbine associated with the disks or by means of an external motor. The device may also be connected to a vacuum relief valve to attenuate the level of the depression in the intake manifold under certain conditions. The vacuum relief valve may be integral or separate from the device.

  • Patent number: 5765427
Abstract: The press comprises two tool holders facing each other (28a, 28b), capable of relative movement one towards the other and back again. Each tool holder carries a bending tool (40a, 40b) and a clamping tool (42a, 42b). The tool holders (28a, 28b) are in addition capable of relative movement between two working positions in one of which the rear edge (46a) of a tool holder (28a) is so positioned as to cooperate, in order to bend the sheet (L) in a first direction, with a front edge (44b) of the bending tool (40b) of the other tool holder (28b), and the clamping tool (42b) of the other tool holder (28b) is immediately opposite the tool of the first tool holder (28a) in order to cooperate with it through the interposed sheet (L). In the other working position, the functions of the edges of the bending tools and the functions of the clamping tools are reversed in order to carry out the bend in the other direction.

  • Patent number: 5765984
Abstract: In order to load and discharge pieces of sheet metal automatically onto and from a machine tool having a horizontal table movable along a first horizontal axis, a horizontal discharge table and a horizontal loading table are provided in positions in which the tables are side by side and substantially aligned with the horizontal plane of the table of the machine tool. An unprocessed piece of sheet metal to be supplied to the machine tool is placed on the loading table. Initially, the piece-holding table of the machine tool is positioned beside the discharge table. The piece of sheet metal on the piece-holding table is transferred to the discharge table by being slid on the bearing surfaces of the tables in the direction of a second horizontal axis perpendicular to the first axis. The table of the machine tool is then moved to a position in which it is beside the loading table.

  • Patent number: 5761944
Abstract: In a punching processing method, a punch chip having a roller shape is arranged in a punch chip holder rotatable around the vertical axis and can be rotated around the horizontal axis. A die chip having a roller shape is arranged in a die chip holder rotatable around the vertical axis and can be rotated around the horizontal axis. Punching processing of a work is performed, in cooperation with the punch chip and the die chip, by moving the work in the horizontal direction in a state in which the work is held between the punch chip and the die chip. Further, a roll forming die used in this punching processing method is also proposed. Accordingly, it is possible to perform various kinds of punching processings for a short time without causing any seam and easily perform processings of a circle and a curve in addition to processing of only a straight line.

  • Patent number: 5760517
Abstract: In the case of a plug-in commutator with a hub body (1) consisting of an electrical isolation material and having evenly distributed and positioned grooves of like design over its circumference, in which each of the segments (5)--of like design--which form the commutator path, is inserted by forming a form-fit connection in radial direction, the segments (5) are safeguarded from a shift in relation to the hub body (1) by a clamping force that is based on an overdimension (x, z) of the segments (5) and/or of material parts of the hub body (1) that facilitate the positioning of the segments (5). Only in the area of the two end sections (18, 21) of the segments (5) and/or the grooves is the overdimension (x, z), which determines the clamping force exerted on the segments (5), provided.

The microcontroller includes a microprocessor and various front-end analog circuitry such as a slope A/D converter and a multiplexer for allowing a plurality of analog input signals to be converted to corresponding digital counts indicative of signal level. In order to make the measurements of the selected analog inputs more precise, the microcontroller uses a unique calibration procedure whereby selected parameters associated with the analog circuitry that are subject to variation are measured during test and corresponding calibration constants are calculated therefrom and stored in program memory. These stored calibration constants are subsequently used by the microprocessor in conjunction with the digital counts of the analog input signals for calculating a more precise measurement of the analog input signals.
