Abstract: The preparation consists of millispheres, microspheres, nanospheres or array-type particles consisting of a nucleus of a gellable hydrocolloid onto which has been deposited a film of a cationic polysaccharide, and incorporating inside a pharmacologically useful drug. The procedure consists of dissolving, suspending or emulsifying the drug in a solution of the gellable hydrocolloid; adding the resulting mixture to a gelling solution; and suspending the resulting millispheres, microspheres, nanospheres or array-type particles in a solution of the cationic polysaccharide.

Abstract: Thermal spraying method and apparatus for depositing a coating onto a substrate by introducing material to be coated directly within the arc discharge area and by establishing a stable laminar plasma stream. By choosing particular parameters of the spraying method, namely electrical parameters and rate of ionizable fluid, required for establishment of plasma arc there is possible to enable efficient melting of material and conveying thereof toward the surface to be coated without spreading outside and before it is evacuated toward said substrate.
Abstract: A system for the model-based compression of speckle images in which the pulse characteristics of the known coherent imaging system which generated the speckle image to be compressed are used together with a scatterer image model to modify that scatterer image to contain impulse information such that when the impulse information is convolved with the pulse, the speckle image is reproduced. The modified scatterer image is compressed and outputted together with the pulse characteristics so that the speckle image can be reproduced.
Abstract: A connecting structure for completing an electrical connection between a flat cable and bus bars is provided. The flat cable is provided at an end portion thereof with an exposed conductive part and an ear part arranged on a tip of the flat cable. By bending the exposed conductive part in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the flat cable, the ear part is arranged perpendicular to an extending direction of the flat cable. The bus-bar unit has first and second setting surfaces, a plurality of exposed parts of the bus bars arranged on the first setting surface and an ear holding part arranged on the second setting surface. In the arrangement, the ear part of the flat cable is attached to the ear holding part while the exposed conductive part of the cable is attached to the first setting surface.
Abstract: A roof drain arrangement and method for sealing a space between an existing drain opening, the roof drain arrangement, and a new roof membrane, is disclosed. The arrangement and method provide for sealing of an area between the roof drain arrangement and the roof structure. Sealing is provided by adhesive material disposed on a lower surface of an upper flange portion of the insert portion, or by adhesive disposed on an upper surface of a base plate, or by a roofing membrane located between the lower surface of the upper flange portion and the base plate, or by a combination thereof.
Abstract: An implantable cardioverter/defibrillator device is implemented to be selectively non-invasively upgraded from time to time after implantation to enable the device to provide additional therapy for arrhythmia treatment as the patient's need for such treatment undergoes change. The device is adapted to provide a plurality of functions corresponding to different levels of therapy for treating arrhythmias, and to respond to each different type of arrhythmia that may be sensed, to supply a function which is designated as being appropriate to relieve that respective arrhythmia. Each function is not necessarily unique to treating a particular arrhythmia, and, in at least some instances, may be used to treat more than one of the plurality of different types of arrhythmias. At the time of its implant, the device is restricted from providing those of the plurality of functions which are deemed as being non-essential to the patient's needs at that time.
Abstract: A method of protecting a conductive connecting part of a flat cable and a protecting structure of the cable are provided. The method includes a step of connecting conductors of the flat cable to conductors of relay wires at the conductive connecting part, a step of arranging a protective member at the exterior of an insulating cover part of the flat cable, a step of interposing the protective member between opposing molding dies and accommodating the conductive connecting part of the flat cable in a cavity defined by the molding dies in a leak-tight manner, and a step of supplying insulating material in the cavity for an insert molding. The protecting structure includes the conductive connecting part, the protective member and the insulating member for enclosing the conductive connecting part together with a leading end of the protective member. The insulating member is formed by insert molding.
Abstract: There is disclosed a device for measuring dimensions of workpieces, particularly rod shaped workpieces. The device includes a supporting means for supporting and roughly aligning the workpieces, a measuring mean for detecting the length of the workpiece, and a control unit including memory means for storing the measured values. The measuring device of the present invention is characterized in that the measuring means (1, 103) is provided with a sensor means (6, 104) for detecting dimensions of a cross-section of the workpiece (1, 101).
Abstract: A method of and system for rendering a halftone image of a gray scale image by utilizing a pixel-by-pixel comparison of the gray scale image against a blue noise mask is disclosed in which the gray scale image is scanned on a pixel-by-pixel basis and compared on a pixel-by-pixel basis to an array of corresponding data points contained in a blue noise mask stored in a PROM or computer memory in order to produce the desired halftoned image. Both digital and optically implemented halftone methods are disclosed. Application specific modifications of the blue noise mask as well as its use for producing halftoned color images are also disclosed.
Abstract: In a method of inspecting a product processed by a turret punch press machine, an image sensing apparatus (video camera) (11) is removably fitted in a punch mount hole (5) of an upper turret disk (1) of the turret punch press machine; a product (W) processed on trial by the turret punch press machine and clamped by a work clamping device (23) is fed to an image sensing position of the image sensing apparatus by use of a work locating and feeding mechanism (31, 35, 29, 33) of the turret punch press machine; an image of the processed product is sensed at the image sensing position by the image sensing apparatus; drawing data corresponding to the processed product are inputted; and the image data of the processed product obtained by the image sensing apparatus are compared with the inputted drawing data to discriminate the quality of the processed product quality.

Abstract: An electrical connector requiring low insertion force, simple structure, few constituents and low cost. The connector includes a first connector housing for retaining a first connector element, a second connector housing for retaining a second connector element to be engaged with the first connector element and an operating lever having at least one hook part arranged at an end thereof. The first connector housing has at least one holder for engaging with the hook part to thereby rotatably support the operating lever. Abstract: A die for a press brake is formed with: a first V-shaped groove (43A) extending in a longitudinal direction and on an upper surface thereof; a second V-shaped groove (43B) extending in the same way in parallel to the first V-shaped groove; a plurality of first engage slots (45A) arranged on a lower surface thereof in parallel to the first V-shaped groove by a predetermined distance (A) from a central bottom line of the first V-shaped groove; and a plurality of second engage slots (45B) arranged in the same way in parallel to the second V-shaped groove by the same predetermined distance from a central bottom line of the second V-shaped groove. The first and second engage slots (45A, 45B) are used in common for alignment of the first and second V-shaped grooves (43A, 43B) with a punch (7) mated to the die.
Abstract: An on-line battery monitoring system for monitoring a plurality of battery cells identifies and computes individual cell and battery bank operating parameters. The system comprises a controller for designating a given battery cell to be monitored, a multiplexer responsive to designation by the controller for selecting a given battery cell to be monitored or for selecting a battery pack to be monitored, an analog board for receiving electrical signals from a given battery cell for providing an output representing measurement of a parameter (voltage, temperature, and the like) of the given battery cell, a voltage sensor circuit for sensing voltage appearing across positive and negative terminals of the battery pack, and a control board responsive to address information for selectively initiating a load test, battery bank charging, or common-mode voltage measurement.
