  • Patent number: 4543917
Abstract: A two stroke diesel engine requiring a minimum of one pair of cylinders is constructable in multiple cylinder pairs. Each cylinder contains two oppositely working pistons. Four pistons drive, without rocking couples, opposite sides of a single crankshaft having three crankpins. Two paired cylinders are interconnected through and share a common precombustion chamber insuring cylinder pressure equalization and require only one fuel injector. The valveless engine has piston controlled intake and exhaust ports and crank phasing insures that exhaust ports are opened and closed prior to the respective opening and closing of the intake ports rendering the uniflow scavenged cylinders superchargeable. The precombustion chamber is optionally made variable in volume to simultaneously provide a variable compression ratio to both cylinders without affecting piston geometry or stroke.

  • Patent number: 4534184
Abstract: A method and device for cooling molds circulating in a horizontal plane, in which siphon action is used to pass cooling liquid from a top gutter through the molds. In this way the whole cooling system is becoming constructively simplified, such that production speeds can be increased, with the consequent greater length of the cooling system, but without its becoming unduly complicated. This effect is realized irrespective of the nature of the machine or the number of molds.Method and device are especially advantageous when applied with the manufacture of plastics tube, more particularly yet with the manufacture of plastic corrugated tube.

  • Patent number: 4530645
Abstract: The present system and apparatus for pumping an oil well damps out the stretch and over travel in sucker rod over travel particularly when the rod string approaches its point of reversal of direction either up or down. This is accomplished by decelerating the rate of travel of the rod string and at its end of travel pausing for a time period sufficient to allow rod string oscillations to damp out prior to reversal of rod string direction which due to the long length of the rod string, its weight and the weight of the trapped oil avoids breaking the rod string and the time loss occasioned thereby in both loss of well production and costly replacement of equipment and the time loss resulting therefrom. The present invention also achieves substantial recovery of hi-viscosity oil not recoverable at present by standard recovery procedures. This is accomplished with a sensor positioned to be actuated by the ram of the hydraulic drive.

  • Patent number: 4526278
Abstract: The present disclosure of a board bundle cradle is for use with the free end of a dip stick having a pivoted work carrier at its free end having a hook which has a horizontally rotatable work carrier movable through an arc of the order of 106.degree. horizontally relative to the pivot. The board road board bundle cradle has a pair of spaced apart end frames each of which has a base member adapted to receive and support a bundle of boards to be laid into a board road. A major and a minor board bundle containment member upstands from each end of each base member and extends from the upper portion of each major support member. Spacer means between the spaced apart end frames rigidly secures the frames together. The portion lying between the upwardly forwardly inclined member and the upper free end of the minor board bundle containment member defines the loading mouth of the cradle through which a bundle of boards to be laid are introduced to the base members of each end frame.

  • Patent number: 4514302
Abstract: A composite tube of a heat-sealable non-woven material comprises an inner and an outer tube of non-woven, each of said tubes being provided with a longitudinal seal obtained by ultrasonic sealing, the outer and inner tube being fixed with respect to each other by adhesive spots. The inner side of the inner non-woven tube is coated with a membrane for membrane filtration. The seal formed by ultrasonic sealing in the outer tube does not extend to the inner side of the inner tube and preferably the seals in the outer and inner tube are staggered with respect to each other. The composite tube is formed by first forming the inner tube, applying spots of an adhesive upon the outer side of the inner tube, and subsequently applying the outer tube onto the inner tube. During the step of forming the longitudinal seal by ultrasonic sealing in the outer tube it is avoided that the seal as formed extends toward the inner side of the inner tube.

  • Patent number: 4504897
Abstract: Voltage regulators of the waveform chopping type operable with alternating current sources are operated in a mode wherein a wave train complementary to the chopping wave train is provided with the property that each of the wave trains has equal amplitude and inverse polarity harmonics. Thus the two wave trains may be added together to cancel out all the noise introduced by the chopping. This is done by synchronously switching the respective wave trains in two corresponding processing channels leading to two respective power output channels, wherein one channel has incorporated therein amplitude regulation means, preferably of the feedback type. To remove the noise components, the higher frequency harmonics are isolated from the fundamental frequency which serves as the power supply medium, and then the equal amplitude and opposite sense harmonics are added together to cancel the noise components.

  • Patent number: 4492867
Abstract: In a non-destructive method the state of ageing of plastic products is determined by means of infrared radiation, which is passed through the product. The invention is based upon the discovery that there is a clear relationship between certain physical and/or chemical changes occurring during the course of time in the interior of plastic materials, detectable by infrared analysis, and the mechanical properties of the product. On the basis of this relationship, the method may be used to decide whether products can be safely used or whether they must be disqualified and removed. The method is particularly well suited with crates which are to contain bottles; the radiation is then passed through a crate wall.Apparatus for performing the method may be arranged in a line such as a conveyor belt bottling line.

  • Patent number: 4474723
Abstract: A plastic pipe part 1 is pushed across a head part 3 of a sealing sleeve 4, being supported by a support 8, thereby providing the plastic pipe part with a widened end 7. Subsequently the widened end is surrounded by an outer mold 11 with three successive widenings 12, 14, 15 and by means of a fluid pressure in the interior of the widened end 7, sealed by the head part 3, the widened end is provided with three socket end widenings 28, 22, 29. After removal of the support 8 the end portion 6 of the socket end is inwardly rebent around the head part 3 thus forming a groove chamber 5 retaining the head part 3 of sealing sleeve 4. Pushing the plastic pipe part across the head part is facilitated by applying a fluid pressure.

  • Patent number: 4449910
Abstract: Apparatus for making profiled plastic tube and comprising two circulating endless chains, each making a plurality of mold halves move along with a tube coming from an extruder, these mold halves pairwise constituting a mold cavity in which the tube is being given its profile. According to the invention the molds are movable relative to the chain links in a direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of the links. The machine frame is provided with guides for the mold halves, some located interiorly, others exteriorly, with respect to the chain loop, such that once closed, the cavity formed by the pairs of mold halves will remain closed and undisturbed up to the end.Preferably the transitions between curved portions and the operative portion of the path of the mold halves at the entrance and the exit ends are bending points of mathematically calculated paths and the operative straight path tangentially joins said transitional portions.
