Abstract: Provided is a presser foot system for sewing machine comprising a small tubular cylinder bed which is used, for example, in joining crotch sewing of underpants or drawers and joining shoulder sewing of shirts. Distance from the center of a needle location to the cutting starting position of a knife trimming mechanism, wherein the upper edges of the ends of fabrics in a vertical face-to-face contact to be fed to a guide path are cut to an even length, is set to the range of 16.5 mm to 18.0 mm in actual dimension. This range is sufficient so that the ends thus cut by one operation of the knife trimming mechanism are stacked one on another by the operation of guide of upper and lower guides until these reach the needle location. Thus, irrespective of the thickness and flexibility of the fabric material and the presence or absence of a step, the ends of the fabrics cut to the even length can be fed in a predetermined stacked state to the needle location, thereby ensuring high quality finish of sewing.

Abstract: A transdermal or topical plaster system with a backing layer, with an active ingredient-containing and self-adhesive matrix based on crosslinkable polyacrylate as base polymer and with a removable protecting film is characterized by an at least two-layer matrix with a degree of crosslinking of the layer facing the skin which is appropriate for adequate adhesion to the skin thereof and is lower than the degree of crosslinking of the layer or layers on top thereof.
Abstract: A thick fabric of poor surface smoothness, such as a fabric for wet suit, can be fed reliably, smoothly and uniformly to perform sewing of excellent finish, without requiring any oil application to the fabric surface before sewing, by arranging a presser foot body, a small presser foot and a roller as follows. The presser foot body is fixedly supported to a lower end portion of a presser bar supported to a sewing arm part so that it is free to move vertically and reciprocally. The small presser foot resiliently pressing the fabric to the upper surface side of a throat plate is disposed on the downstream side than a needle location hole of the presser foot body in the sewing direction. The roller is disposed on the upstream side than the needle location hole in the sewing direction and is rotatable such that its contact portion with the fabric is successively changed with the fabric feed.
Abstract: A method of making a cell component containing a polymer, the polymer consisting primarily of vinylidene fluoride, in which the polymer is mixed with at least one other ingredient, such as an organic plasticiser, and extruded at a temperature above its melting point. The method can be used to make electrolyte layers in which case the polymer would be mixed with at least a salt, and to make layers of composite material for use as anodes or cathodes, in which case the polymer would be mixed with at least a particulate insertion material. No solvents are required.
Abstract: A transition support for flooring extending between a floor area of a high height and a floor area of a low height, the support being in the shape of a wedge which is generally unnoticeable by persons walking across the support and which does not jostle wheeled vehicles crossing the support.
Abstract: An electrolyte for use in a rechargeable cell whose charging voltage exceeds 3.8 volts includes a redox chemical comprising a substituted aromatic molecule in which &agr; hydrogens are either absent, or are sterically against loss from the ionized form of the molecule. Such as chemical can act as a redox shuttle during overcharge, suppressing damage to the cell and preventing the deposition of metallic lithium during the overcharge of a lithium ion cell, but does not affect normal operation of the cell during either charge or discharge. One such molecule is hexaethyl benzene.
Abstract: A reactor for the processing of gaseous media, including two planar beds of active material separated by a gap. A gaseous medium to be processed is fed inwardly around the periphery of the reactor beds into the gap between the reactor beds and collected from their outer surfaces.
Abstract: An electric screen device for preventing creatures from intruding into a water channel, which comprises a pair of opposed electrode assemblies disposed on opposite sides of a water intake channel, and a dc pulse applying device 13 for applying dc pulses between the electrode assemblies. In such electric screen device, the product of the peak value of the intensity of an electric field produced between the electrode assemblies by the dc pulse applying device and the body length of creatures to be prevented from intrusion into the water channel is not less than 0.1 V, the dc pulse applying time is within the range of 2-200 msec, and the duty factor of the dc pulse is not more than 0.5.
Abstract: A regenerator for use in an ammonia absorption refrigerator comprises a heater for heating an ammonia aqueous solution and a rectifying column for enriching ammonia in an ammonia solution-vapor mixture obtained in and introduced from the heater, wherein the heater comprises a heater body having a heating chamber, a burner of lean pre-mixture combustion type disposed in a lower portion of the heating chamber, and a heat transfer tube bundle provided in a meandering arrangement above the burner within the heating chamber, the heat transfer tube bundle having an inlet and an outlet which are respectively connected to lower portions of the rectifying column via transfer pipes.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flange fixture intended to hold a flange to a tube for welding the flange to the tube, whereby it comprises: a) a cylindrical central body comprising at least three evenly distributed expansion holders as well as one cylindrical part provided with threads, whereby the expansion holders are each arranged to receive at least a radially movable expansion mechanism, and whereby the cylindrical part being provided with threads is arranged to receive one controlling device influencing the radially movable expansion mechanism for obtaining an outwardly directed movement; b) a first cylindrical shaft axially and rotatably mounted arranged in the central body and comprising a second controlling device arranged in the end thereof facing away from the central body; c) an axially and rotatably arranged second shaft in the shaft, which second shaft in its end receives at least three evenly distributed second expansion holders, which are each arranged to receive at least one radially move
Abstract: A method and device for generating, merging and updating data for use in a destination tracking system which comprises, among others, the following steps: Generation of data by mobile units (vehicles) to model reality concerning route(s) and traffic, and storing this data for further use. A highly up-to-date and extremely reliable database is built-up in a simple and efficient way by merging data from many units. This database makes it possible to answer a number of complex problems, for example, about the passable route network and realizable travel times. On input of an origin and a destination node together with the intended travel time, destination tracking data is calculated from the stored data. Since the origin-destination relationships of the motions carried out by the mobile units in dependency of all conceivable parameters are known, the destination tracking recommendations for each individual participant can be given such that the sum of the times of movement of all participants is minimized.
Abstract: Exercise devices in the form of gaiters and gloves for use during exercising in water, particularly in “deep water” with the user in generally vertical orientation. The devices are form fitting, resilient so as to preclude inadvertent injury during use, and adaptable for use by young and old, the physically fit, the lame or somewhat infirmed. When not in use, the devices are generally oval in cross-section. During use the devices conform to the user's arms and/or legs and provide a snug fit for precluding or minimizing slipping and misadjustment and provide a buoyant force on the order of two to ten pounds, more or less; a force of approximately three to six pounds is about right for a young adult lady.
