Abstract: A snowboard step-in binding having a rotatable soleholder that can be moved between two limit positions and can be opened using an opening lever. In order to ensure a secure lock with the soleholder even with a layer of snow present, but prevent inadvertent opening, a dual-action lever with one arm designed as an opening lever and the other arm designed as a rotating lock is provided. This rotating lock is maintained by forcing two cam surfaces, which extend from a common apex and contain an intermediate rest surface, against a locking bolt by the force of a spring.
Abstract: A process for the production of an extremely flexible patch having a dermal or transdermal action and having an adhesive matrix layer which comprises the active compound and is provided with a detachable protective layer on a side facing the skin is characterized in that the matrix layer is not covered on the side facing away from the skin but is given a non-adhesive treatment on its open surface.
Abstract: The present invention describes a device for the controlled release of active compounds in the gastrointestinal tract with delayed pyloric passage, having a component expandable on contact with gastric juice, which is surrounded by a polymer covering which is permeable to gastric juice and active compounds. The device contains at least one active compound which is present in a multiparticulate preparation which releases the active compound into the gastric juice with a delay. Compared with conventional pharmaceutical forms with delayed pyloric passage, the release of active compound from a device according to the invention can be better controlled; likewise the device can be easily rolled or folded and can be introduced into capsules without problems.

Abstract: An extrusion head with a mixing device and an adjustable shear effect, for homogenizing, mixing and shearing the material conveyed to it in form of polyester melts, elastomers and other miscible viscous and paste materials. The extrusion head has a pair of toothed wheels arranged one over the other, with one wheel having a double helical gearing and the other having a pair of axially spaced oblique teeth with a center annular groove. The material supplied flows around one toothed wheel and fills its tooth gaps and those of the other toothed wheel. The material is taken back in the outer region of the one toothed wheel by the rotary movement, is axially crushed out by the other toothed wheel and conveyed into an outlet channel through the groove in the other toothed wheel. The mixing, homogenization and shearing of the material can be adjusted by the drive of the one toothed wheel, thus making it possible to obtain a high outlet temperature where the material is elastomers.
Abstract: A discharge breaking system and a discharge breaking method for breakage and decomposition of objects to be ruptured such as destruction of base rocks and breakage of stones into small pieces at building lands, breakage for finishing tunnels and destruction of concrete buildings. A discharge breaking system is configured to supply or discharge electric energy charged or accumulated in a capacitor between a pair of electrodes in a short time for abrupt vaporization of a breaking substance for transmitting a pressure, thereby breaking an object to be ruptured with an expansion force generated by the vaporization. The discharge breaking systems has a structure wherein an end portion of a sheath member which covers a pair of metal cores for composing a cable is cut off to expose ends of the metal cores, and the exposed ends of the metal cores are submerged in the breaking substance and used as electrodes.
Abstract: A bathroom accessory for attachment to a vertical surface having at least one chamber for holding toiletry items and a transverse wall having vertical orifices for toothbrushes and razors.
Abstract: Supplying a predetermined amount of electric energy to a fine metal wire 4 in a short time causes the fine metal wire 4 to melt and evaporate. Following this phenomenon, a blasting substance 10 expands in volume, so that the evaporative expansion force resulting from the melting evaporation of the fine metal wire 4 is transmitted to and blasts a to-be-blasted object 5.
Abstract: Apparatus for providing an offshore drilling operation in a sea, the apparatus comprising a drilling derrick support structure (2) having a base (4) to rest on the sea-floor (5) and a deck (7) to support a drilling derrick (1), the structure being in the form of a concrete block (2) having a hollow cavity to enable the block (2) to be floated to the site where drilling is to take place and being adapted to receive ballast into the cavity in such a way and in a sufficient quantity as to cause the block (2) to sink base-first and rest upon the sea-bed with the deck (7) clear of the surface of the sea, a drilling derrick (1) for mounting on the deck (7) of the block (2) and a tender assist barge (3) for transport to the site in down to 2 m of water to provide services, supplies and equipment to the drilling derrick (1).

Abstract: Method and apparatus for converting the kinetic energy of a moving fluid stream into useful work by using a cascade of thin aero or hydro foils positioned therein. The foils may be provided with at least two degrees of freedom and adjacent foils move out of phase. The foils are subjected to fluid induced oscillations known as flutter. Barriers (3, 43) may be positioned upstream, above, or at sides of the apparatus for increasing efficiency by increasing the fluid velocity. A system of flywheels (17, 18) are used to increase inertia of the foils and are particularly useful with hydrofoils. A cascade of aero or hydro foils may be mechanically oscillated to transfer energy to a fluid.
Abstract: An active compound-containing patch for the controlled delivery of oestradiol or its pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives, alone or in combination with gestagens, to human or animal skin, having an active compound-containing reservoir based on ethylcellulose and contact adhesives comprising adhesive resins is characterized by a contact adhesive having a high plasticizer content.
Abstract: A pharmaceutical lozenge for the modified release of active compounds in the gastrointestinal tract is described, with active-compound-containing particles which have a first coating controlling the release and a further, outer coating with saliva-resistant properties. The first coating, which controls the release of active compound, can have release-delaying or enteric properties.
