  • Patent number: 4699558
Abstract: A generally U-shaped frame is formed with a pair of elongated beams, each having a pair of pivotally mounted load-engaging dogs, and with a pair of elongated sleeves, each extending upwardly from the free end of one of the beams. An elongated post is slidably and telescopically mounted in each of the sleeve. Each post is mounted on a wheel-supporting carriage. A hydraulic jack is mounted in each of the telescoping post and sleeve assemblies to raise and lower the frame relative to the base assemblies. Hydraulic motors and lines are provided so that the dogs can be pivoted and the frame raised and lowered by the operator of a fork lift which is attached to a hitch extending from the closed end of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4694722
Abstract: A conveyor table is provided on a floor mounted support frame and a pair of tool guides are disposed horizontally and laterally above and below the conveyor table. Several readily removable tool and cutter assemblies, each having a freely rotatable, circular blade with teeth, are slidably mounted on the tool guides. Setscrews are provided on the tool and cutter assemblies to secure them on the tool guides in relatively opposing, vertically aligned pairs. Electrically powered drive units are disposed upstream and downstream of the tool and cutter assemblies to engage a sheet of wallboard, hold it against the conveyor table and move it between the opposing pairs of tool and cutter assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4681265
Abstract: A material-directing chute is slidably mounted on a hopper and is interposed between a discharge port in the hopper and a rotary impeller. The position of the chute is controlled by a handle-mounted lever. By shifting the chute to a relatively advanced position, a peripheral portion of a material-receiving drop area on the impeller is shifted radially inwardly from the peripheral edge of the impeller. Accordingly, a material distribution pattern may be provided which avoids areas such as gardens, shrubbery and driveways on one lateral side of the spreader. In addition, a chute-activated damper is provided to impede the flow of material when the chute is in the relatively advanced position.

  • Patent number: 4676547
Abstract: A portable knockdown-type stool for use by a spectator of a sporting event features a seat and frame normally supported in elevated relation to the ground by a single, readily detachable leg or post and having a detachable, stabilizing handle or bar disposed in laterally offset relation to the seat and adjustable between relatively upwardly extended, or downwardly retracted position with respect to the seat. In its retracted position, the handle provides a convenient mean for carrying the stool from place to place and when extended it provides either a back rest or prop for a person seated on the stool.

  • Patent number: 4648727
Abstract: An antifriction ball bearing assembly features a tubular, cylindrical ball retainer or cage which is carried for both reciprocating and rotational movement on an associated shaft or bushing member by means of a key or slide member which is slidable in an axial or longitudinal groove formed in the shaft or bushing and which projects radially into an annular groove formed in the bearing retainer.

  • Patent number: 4624386
Abstract: An easy opening top for a beverage-can is formed by presscutting and bending a comparatively thin sheet steel blank to form therein an included opening underlaid by a correspondingly shaped pull tab or tongue which is joined with the blank along a single bend line. The metal of the blank is stretched and thinned slightly in the area of the bend line to cause at least part of the marginal edge of the tongue or tab to underlie an edge of the blank adjacent the opening therein and thereby prevent accidental displacement of the tongue upwardly through the opening in the can top. A thin film of synthetic resin material is adhesively secured to the underside of the can top in underlying relation to the pull tab and opening, so as to seal the opening shut until the tab is intentionally bent upwardly through the opening to break the seal and provide access to the contents of the can.

  • Patent number: 4535662
Abstract: The leading end of a continuous tubular supply is fed past a rotating flywheel into a guide. When the leading end reaches the back of the guide, a blade mounted on the flywheel severs the supply to form a straw or stirring stick. The straw is immediately ejected from the guide and is swept into the entrant portion of a feeder by a rotary brush. The feeder is provided with a stem-propelling run that is formed from a pair of top V-belts and a wide underbelt and between which the straw is propelled to a collecting hopper. Successive straws are pushed into the hopper under the impetus of the conveyor belts.

  • Patent number: 4507714
Abstract: A pair of relatively high wattage tungsten-halogen lamps are mounted directly below a pair of spaced-apart apertures in a forward portion of a horizontal deck that separates the case into a display compartment and a utility cabinet. Forced air ventilation is provided in the utility area to cool the lamps. A ceiling mirror in the display compartment reflects the light onto the display deck. Front and rear windows disposed below and on opposite sides of the ceiling mirror lie outside of the light pathways to prevent glare. Side mirrors and a diagonal front mirror also reflect light onto the merchandise in the display area while avoiding the windows.
