  • Patent number: 5029576
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning and treating teeth and gums, for the removal of plaque and calculus build-up on teeth, and for the prevention of plaque and calculus formation on teeth thus reducing or eliminating susceptibility of dental and gum related diseases. The method comprises the passing of fluid particles through a magnetic field of a predetermined minimum strength wherein the fluid particles are caused to flow through the magnetic field in a south pole to north pole direction. The magnetically treated fluid is then applied to the teeth and gums. A preferred embodiment comprises a conventional, pulsating, high velocity fluid stream, tooth and gum cleaning machine for delivery of the magnetically treated fluid to the surface of the teeth and gums.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a hand-operated, adjustable, braking or restraining device for effectively restraining the movement of wheeled carts such as shopping carts, flat carts, medical carts, and the like, comprises an engagement lever; an engagement rod; a lever-operated common axle; a pair of operating rods and a pair of eccentrically displaced, sliding, cam-operated braking or restraining mechanisms. The engagement lever has a locking position and a free position and when rotated to its locking position, moves the operating rods thereby engaging the braking or restraining mechanisms. The braking or restraining mechanisms are mounted near the rear wheels of the cart and each is configured to have a cam-operated, eccentrically displaced, sliding brake shoe or pad member which frictionally engages each the rear wheel thereby restraining or preventing the rotation of same.

  • Patent number: 4873801
Abstract: A simple dock seal and guard having wear resistant, wear reducing and self-positioning characteristics for use around loading dock doorways. The dock seal comprises a pair of mounting brackets, a rocker arm assembly and multiple overlapping vertical sealing strips. The rocker arm assembly includes two arms, each having an inner end and an outer end, counterweight support means, horizontal counterweighting bars and a horizontal anchoring bar. The rocker arms are each rotatably attached to one of the mounting brackets generally in the center of the rocker arm. The rocker arms rotate, as a result of the attachment of the counterweighting bars, in a manner whereby the outer ends of the rocker arms are higher than the inner ends when said arms are at rest. The strips are fabricated of resilient, abrasion-resistant material and the free ends of some of said sealing strips have weights attached to them.
