  • Patent number: 8797226
Abstract: A cellular communication antenna has a base with a length that exceeds its width and an inside surface with internal mounts for a plurality of electrical components that generate heat when in operation. A top encapsulates the electrical components and incorporates a radome. A plurality of fins are mounted on the outside surface of the base. They may be non-parallel with the length of the base. They may all be substantially the same length. They are further constructed and arranged to be in thermal communication with the electrical components such that heat generated by the electrical components is dissipated by the fins. Each fin may be in thermally conductive communication with more than one electrical component.

  • Patent number: 8792583
Abstract: In one embodiment, a non-linear power amplifier generates an amplified output signal based on a pre-distorted signal generated by a digital pre-distorter based on an input signal. A feedback path generates a feedback waveform based on the amplified output signal. The feedback waveform is aligned in time with the input signal at the waveform level to identify a corresponding reference waveform. The feedback waveform and the corresponding reference waveform are both divided into a plurality of sub-waveforms. Each feedback sub-waveform is independently aligned in phase with its corresponding reference sub-waveform. The resulting plurality of phase-aligned feedback sub-waveforms are then combined to form a hybrid-aligned waveform that is compared to the reference waveform to adaptively update the digital pre-distorter.

  • Publication number: 20140201989
Abstract: In a method for attaching a connector to a coaxial cable a solder preform is placed upon an end of an outer conductor of the cable. A connector body of the connector is seated upon an interface pedestal and the end of the outer conductor is inserted into a bore of the connector body against the interface pedestal. The outer conductor, the connector body and the interface pedestal contribute sidewalls to form a solder cavity, and the solder preform is heated. A seat may be applied to the interface pedestal to provide a thermal barrier and/or enhanced seal characteristics that are cost efficiently replaceable upon degradation.

  • Patent number: 8786494
Abstract: A method of modifying calibration data used to geo-locate a mobile station located in an indoor environment is disclosed. When a mobile station is located indoors, the signal strength of signals received and/or transmitted by the mobile station have the tendency to be lower than the strength of the signals received by a mobile station located outdoors. As a result of these lower signal strengths, geo-location efforts which rely on signal strengths may result in unsatisfactory location accuracy. Modifying pre-existing calibration data obtained outdoors may provide a way to simulate indoor calibration data characteristics.

  • Patent number: 8787429
Abstract: A communication system and method for extending coverage of a base transceiver station. The communication system includes processing circuitry that receives a communication signal over a wireless channel. The received communication signal is processed through an adaptable equalizer to reduce noise, distortion, interference, and frequency errors. In another aspect of the invention, a frequency of a reference signal in the communication system is adjusted to compensate for frequency errors between the communication system and the source of the communication signal. The equalized and frequency adjusted communication signal is then retransmitted into an extended coverage area. Wireless coverage is thereby provided between a base transceiver station and a mobile device in the extended coverage area.

  • Patent number: 8787942
Abstract: A system and method for estimating a location of a wireless device receiving signals from plural nodes of a communications network. A wireless device may be directed to transmit a first signal having one or more predetermined parameters. At one or more location measurement units (“LMU”) an uplink time of arrival (“TOA”) measurement between the wireless device and one or more of the plural nodes or LMUs may be determined as a function of the first signal transmitted from the wireless device. Downlink signal measurements of signals received by the wireless device may be collected, and a location of the wireless device determined as a function of the uplink TOA measurements and the collected downlink signal measurements.

  • Patent number: 8758053
Abstract: A coaxial connector is provided with a connector body coupled to a connector coupling body. A slip ring is provided within a bore of the connector coupling body. An outer conductor groove of the connector body is open to a cable end of the connector body. A contact surface is provided on an inner sidewall of the outer conductor groove. A spring contact is provided between the slip ring and the connector body and a stabilizing assembly is coupled to a cable end of the connector coupling body. The axial advance of the connector coupling body towards the connector body drives the slip ring against the coil spring to clamp a leading edge of the outer conductor inserted into the outer conductor groove against the contact surface. The stabilizing assembly grips a jacket of the coaxial cable, stabilizing the interconnection. Methods of manufacture and interconnection are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8762519
Abstract: A system and method for determining the location of a target device attached to an access network connected to a location server, the location server having a plurality of access networks connected thereto. A location request may be received for a target device whereby the target device is identified as a function of one or more parameters. An access network may be identified from the plurality of access networks to which the target device is attached as a function of the one or more parameters. Each access network in the plurality of access networks connected to the location server may be assigned one or more logical identifiers by which an individual location request may be allocated to the respective access network. An estimated location of the target device may then be determined as a function of the one or more logical identifiers using a location algorithm appropriate for the identified access network.

  • Patent number: 8760361
Abstract: A polarization adjustment assembly for a reflector antenna is provided with a radio bracket with a mounting flange. The mounting flange is coupled to a hub provided with a stop portion. Fasteners couple the radio bracket to the hub via slots in the mounting flange, rotatable with respect to the hub within the extents of the slots. An adjustment bolt passes through a boss coupled to the mounting flange. The adjustment bolt abuts the stop portion, whereby longitudinal displacement of the adjustment bolt with respect to the boss rotates the radio bracket with respect to the hub. Alternatively, the positions of the boss and stop portion on the mounting flange and hub may be exchanged.

  • Publication number: 20140162547
Abstract: A signal repeating system for a wireless network includes signal repeating circuitry defining an uplink path for processing signals repeated between endpoints. The signal repeating circuitry includes circuitry for selectively varying at least one parameter of the signals that are processed in the uplink path. Circuitry evaluates how signals received in the uplink path of the signal repeating system respond to the variation of the signal parameter. Processing circuitry is configured for comparing a signal associated with the variation of the signal parameter with the evaluated response to determine if the variation causes a change in the uplink path signal response for detecting traffic in the uplink path.
