    Abstract: A method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate which comprises subjecting to a transesterification polymerization reaction at least one polymerizable material for an aromatic polycarbonate, the transesterification reaction being performed in one or more polymerizers which is or are connected through a pipeline system toward an outlet for a final aromatic polycarbonate product, wherein the pipeline system comprises one or more pipes, through which a molten aromatic polycarbonate having a number average molecular weight increased by the transesterification polymerization reaction is passed while contacting an inner wall of the pipe or pipes, the pipeline system having at least one viscous polycarbonate passage region in which a molten aromatic polycarbonate having a number average molecular weight of 6,000 or more is passed through the pipe, wherein the pipe in the at least one viscous polycarbonate passage region is heated to provide a temperature difference in the range of from -3.degree. C. to 50.degree.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an injection molding method for producing a shaped, hollow resin article by introducing a pressurized fluid into a molten resin mass injected into a mold cavity, wherein, during the introduction of the pressurized fluid, the temperature of at least one preselected portion of a back surface of the molten resin mass is maintained at a level which is at least 5.degree. C. higher than the temperature of a front surface of the molten resin mass, causing the fluid to flow into the molten resin mass along a line substantially corresponding to a line along which the preselected portion of the back surface extends, so that a shaped, hollow resin article produced has a hollow in a position corresponding to the preselected portion of the back surface. By the method of the present invention, the flow of the pressurized fluid introduced can be surely led to an intended portion in the molten resin mass, so that the location of a hollow in the molten resin mass can be surely controlled.

    Abstract: An improved wet-laid nonwoven fabric for a battery separator wherein 20 to 95% by weight of thermoplastic staple fibers having a single fiber diameter of 20 .mu.rm, or less are three-dimensionally entangled with hot-melt fibers having a melting point lower by 20.degree. C. than that of the thermoplastic staple fibers so that a mean fiber entangling point interval is 300 .mu.m or less, wherein at least part of the hot-melt fibers are fused to bond the fibers with each other to fix the nonwoven structure. The nonwoven fabric has a basis weight in a range from 10 to 350 g/m.sup.2, a thickness in a range from 30 to 1000 .mu.m and an apparent density in a range from 0.26 to 0.7 g/cm.sup.3, and is excellent in uniformity and mechanical strength. The wet-laid nonwoven fabric is particularly excellent in air permeability, liquid holding capability, liquid retention capability and liquid absorption rate and satisfies the requirement for a battery separator.
