  • Patent number: 11861649
Abstract: Techniques and arrangements for concurrent processing of payments to multiple merchants in a shared program are described. A method, performed by a service computing device, can include receiving customer information associated with two transactions of a customer with two respective merchants that are in a shared program. Accrued benefits of the customer for conducting the two transactions in accordance with the program can be determined. The accrued benefits can be communicated to the customer via a customer device. The payments for both transactions can be processed, concurrently, in accordance with the accrued benefits. In examples, the merchants may be associated in the shared program based on locations of the merchants, a type of merchant, and/or goods or services offered for sale by the merchants.

  • Publication number: 20230419294
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a payment service system (PSS), a payment request from a payment application executing on a device of a sender. The payment request includes a recipient identifier corresponding to a recipient. The sender and recipient have financial accounts associated with the PSS. The method includes determining a similarity score based on a comparison of contact records associated with the device of the sender and contact records associated with a device of the recipient. The method includes, responsive to determining that the similarity score does not satisfy a threshold similarity score, transmitting a confirmation request to the device of the sender to confirm an identity of the recipient. The method includes receiving, from the device of the sender, an approval response to the confirmation request. The method includes, authorizing a payment transaction associated with the payment request based on the approval response.

  • Patent number: 11853921
Abstract: In some examples, a system may receive transaction data indicating payments into a first account over time and payments out of the first account over time, the first account associated with a user. In addition, the system may access a data structure including historical account data that indicates variations in a balance of the first account over time. The system may determine an indicated minimum balance for the first account based on inputting the transaction data and the historical account data into a first predictive model configured to predict a minimum balance for enabling predicted payments out of a user account. The system may determine, based on a difference between a current balance of the first account and the predicted minimum balance for the first account, that the first account has a surplus of funds. Based at least on the surplus, the system may send an instruction.

  • Publication number: 20230410086
Abstract: A system for sensing a proximity of a near field communication (NFC) device includes an NFC reader that communicates with a remote NFC device through load modulation. The NFC reader transmits a wireless carrier signal from an antenna, and the remote NFC device modulates the carrier signal by changing its internal impedance in order to transmit data to the NFC reader. The NFC reader has at least one antenna for receiving the modulated signal. The antenna is coupled to circuitry that analyzes the signal received from the remote NFC device The circuitry then identifies a resonant frequency for the remote NFC device based on the received signal and controls transmission characteristics of the NFC reader for communicating with the remote NFC device based on the identified resonant frequency.

  • Patent number: 11847657
Abstract: Batch-processing of open tabs associated with one or more customers of a merchant is described. An identifier and/or payment instrument associated with the customer may be determined and a tab data structure associated with a customer may be created. The tab data structure may be configured to store interactions between the customer and the merchant. Details of transactions between the customer and the merchant may be stored while the tab remains open. In response to determining that an event has occurred, the open tab(s) may be closed and the stored transactions may be processed via a batch-processing technique. In this way, the open tabs associated with the customer and/or the merchant may be processed in batch, thereby reducing the level of interaction and resources required of the merchant and customer to process tabs individually and reducing the amount of delayed and/or lost funds.

  • Patent number: 11847631
Abstract: A point of sale (POS) device includes a nest portion and a cradle portion. The nest portion includes one or more payment card or near field communication (NFC) readers. The cradle portion couples to differently-sized interchangeable frames, which in turn help secure a mobile computing device to the cradle portion of the POS device. The mobile computing device is connected via a connector to the rest of the POS device. Payment card information read by the readers is conveyed to the mobile computing device over the connector for processing. The POS device may also include tamper detection circuitry.

  • Patent number: 11829964
Abstract: The disclosed technique enables a payer who uses a payment object to pay for goods or services to specify, by using a mobile device, how the payment amount should be apportioned the payer and additional payers. In certain embodiments, the technique involves communication between a mobile payment application installed on the payer's mobile device and a remote payment service system (PSS). The payment amount is transferred from the payer to the payee. The mobile payment application enables the payer to identify additional payers and specify how the payment amount should be apportioned between the payers. The mobile payment application communicates this information to the PSS, which then executes or triggers reimbursement to the payer to carry out the specified apportionment.
