Abstract: The present invention comprises a rotating blade, in particular for the comminution of food materials, which is adapted to be attached to an operating shaft and which includes at least two blade supporting arms which extend radially from a mid-portion. The blade supporting arms each have a knife-edge with cutting edges on a free edge in the direction of rotation. According to the present invention, the knife-edge of the one supporting arm is directed upwardly and the knife-edge of the other supporting arm is directed downwardly, and in the area of the knife-edges the legs are profiled such that a portion projecting from the surface of the supporting arms is formed. The projecting portion is limited by the knife-edge on the one side and by a chamfered surface extending outwardly to the cutting edge on the other side. The knife-edge and the chamfered surface enclose a chamfer angle.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a method of controlling the water temperature in a beverage-brewing apparatus, wherein the water is initially heated in an open water reservoir up to the boiling point, said boiling point being reached in that the water is heated from the initial temperature T.sub.i up to a temperature T.sub.HIGH at which it is ensured that the water does not boil as yet under conventional environmental conditions, in that the rate of change of the temperature dT/dt during heating from the initial temperature T.sub.i to the temperature T.sub.HIGH is determined, in that on reaching the temperature T.sub.HIGH a period of time t.sub.heiz is determined from the difference between 100.degree. C. and T.sub.HIGH as well as from the rate of change of the temperature dT/dt, and in that on reaching the temperature T.sub.HIGH the water continues to be heated during the period of time t.sub.heiz. Abstract: A working bowl for an electrically powered domestic kitchen appliance, within which, a working tool is able to rotate. The working bowl includes a wall having the form of a substantially regular polygon with at least five and preferably fifteen sides. The axis of rotation of the tool lies at the center of the circumcircle of the respective polygon. As a result, food items such as parsley, onions, etc. are fed back to the working tool particularly effectively, thereby enabling the food to be comminuted especially rapidly.

Abstract: A brewing device for a domestic espresso maker includes a brewing chamber adapted to be filled with coffee grounds. The brewing chamber has on its outlet side a filtering means and on its inlet side a piston entering the brewing chamber along the wall thereof and closing the chamber, so that water arriving from a source of pressure is forced into the brewing chamber. The water subsequently flows out of the brewing chamber at the end close to the filtering means as an espresso beverage. In the path of flow of the water, a safety device responsive to a critical pressure in the pressure system is provided between the source of pressure and the brewing chamber. In the presence of pressures prevailing under normal operating conditions, the outlet orifice is outside the brewing chamber; in the presence of a pressure exceeding a critical value, a displacement of the piston relative to the wall of the brewing chamber occurs, such as to cause the outlet orifice to become part of the brewing chamber.

Abstract: A circuit arrangement for indicating the charge status of a batter in an electrical appliance includes a voltage comparator with hysteresis which detects the battery voltage, an oscillator driven by the voltage comparator, and an indicating device. The oscillator oscillates when the voltage is above a first threshold voltage and switches the indicating device to an active condition. The oscillator is blocked when the voltage is below a second threshold voltage and switches the indicated device to a passive condition.

Abstract: An electronic switched-mode power supply for supplying current to an accumulator and to an electrical load adapted to be switched on, includes a self-oscillating flyback converter having a transformer, a switching transistor with an emitter resistor, a feedback circuit, and a control circuit influenced by the accumulator voltage. The power supply further includes an interrupting device which turns the switching transistor off for a prolonged period when, with the switched-mode power supply in the pulsating mode, the ratio of oscillation off-time to the duration of oscillation bursts exceeds a predetermined magnitude.

Abstract: The invention is directed to an electrical device in which an electrical load is powered by a battery via an electronic switching device. A display means serves the function of indicating the charge status of the battery, and a time measurement means determines the connection time of the load to the battery. Following expiration of a predetermined connection time of the load to the battery, when the display means indicates the charge status "zero", the time measurement means will disconnect the electrical load from the battery by means of the electronic switching device.

Abstract: The invention is directed to method for controlling a pump for delivering the water in an apparatus for the production of brewed beverages, in particular espresso, coffee, cappuccino, wherein a switch is provided which, on actuation, starts the pump. The pump is started both when a temperature requirement is satisfied and when the switch is actuated, with the pump being started only if actuation of the switch has occurred after the temperature requirement is met.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a smoothing iron having an approximately triangular metal soleplate including a sliding surface 4 and an edge area 6 encircling the sliding surface and overlapping it partially. The edge area 6 is bent in an upward and inward direction at an angle of 35.degree., maximum, relative to the sliding surface 4. At the tips of the triangle, the edge area includes a slot 8 formed by the side edges of a notch cut in the blanked metal soleplate. Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for a beverage brewing machine for the heating and emulsification of liquids, in particular for the preparation of the coffee with milk beverage "Cappuccino". The device comprises a pipe and a nozzle succeeding in the lower section to the bore, from the orifice of which nozzle hot steam exits during operation. The nozzle is encompassed by the pipe such that an annular chamber is formed around the nozzle, which chamber is open in the direction of flow. The open end of the annular chamber extends beyond the orifice of the nozzle. Apertures are formed at the pipe at the level of the orifice of the nozzle, through which the air, which is necessary for the emulsification, can enter the annular chamber. Further, rib structure is provided at the pipe which permits a user to keep a defined distance between the orifice of the nozzle and the liquid's surface by visual check.

The switch arrangement (2) includes a first switch (12) configured as an On/Off switch and a second switch (10) connected to a capacitor (K). The switches include each conductor portions (22, 24) adapted to be connected to each other by a movable actuating member (18). While the switch (12) signals both the movement and the inclination of the arrangement (2), the switch (10) signals a movement of the arrangement (2) by issuing pulse signals.
