Abstract: A single cycle/multiple cycle dual mode pneumatically driven fastener driving tool utilizes a resettable valve, trigger apparatus, work contact element (WCE) and a mode selecting trigger blocking pin. With the pin in place, the trigger must be released then depressed for each tool actuation. The tool is actuated only when the WCE is also depressed but without regard to the sequence of trigger and WCE depression. In a multiple cycle mode, the pin is removed and the actuation valve is reset either by trigger extension, or by WCE extension for "bottom contact" operation. The tool can be activated by full trigger release and depression while the WCE is held against a work surface. No particular sequence of WCE and trigger depression is required in this second mode. Apparatus and methods are disclosed.

Abstract: An airless paint sprayer includes an outlet check valve assembly having a dual spring configuration which allows for increased fluid flow through the valve without diminishing response time of the valve or the priming operations of the system. One of the springs is not engaged when the valve is closed and the other spring has a much lower spring rate and biases the valve toward a closed configuration when the valve is open, closed, and all positions therebetween. The dual spring configuration accommodates highly viscous fluids or paints with maximum fluid flow and no detrimental impact on the priming operations of the sprayer.
Abstract: A pulley is described for hauling strands of rope or chain and for engaging a splice coupling a strand of rope to a strand of chain. A plurality of pockets are arranged about the periphery of the pulley for positively engaging every other chain link. A plurality of pairs of rope-engaging surfaces are located between adjacent pockets and within the pockets. Rope and chain occupy substantially the same diameter of the pulley resulting in substantially the same speed and torque characteristics whether rope or chain is being hauled.
Abstract: A V-twin, two stage compressor has valve plates disposed between the head and cylinder of each stage and mounting free-floating flexible reed intake and exhaust valves therein. The flexible reeds are movably captured between the floors of respective reed recesses, and separate, non-fixed keeper bars are disposed over, but slightly spaced from, the reeds. Keeper bars over the exhaust reed extend above the valve plate for engagement by the head. A restrictor plate lies within a valve plate recess on keeper bars over the intake valve. A cored crankshaft providing motor drive shaft lubrication, and a removable counter-weight providing crankshaft use with one-piece connecting rods is disclosed. A cooling fan is driven by the removable counterweight and V-shaped fan shroud projections direct cooling air over the cylinders and heads while another cooling air port directs air over an intercooler.

Abstract: A power-operated windlass having a motor that reverses direction to control taking in and paying out of a rope and a shifting mechanism responsive to changes in motor direction which selectively locks and unlocks the rope pulley against rotation in an unwinding direction.
