  • Patent number: 9686697
Abstract: A device is configured to obtain base station information for base stations indicating whether data communicated via a respective base station should receive optimization processing. The device may obtain a base station identifier from a base station. The device may determine whether the data communicated via the base station should receive the optimization processing based on the base station information and the base station identifier. The device may receive non-optimized data to be sent to a client device via the base station. The device may selectively cause the optimization processing to be performed on the non-optimized data based on whether the data communicated via the base station should receive the optimization processing. The device may provide optimized data generated by the optimization processing or the non-optimized data to the client device via the base station based on selectively causing the optimization processing to be performed.

  • Patent number: 9668140
Abstract: A method for devaluing a lost/stolen mobile device includes: receiving, by a server, a report that a mobile device is lost/stolen; suspending, by the server, a mobile identifier number associated with the mobile device, in response to the report; and transmitting, by the server, via a communication network, the suspended mobile identifier number for storage at another location. Suspending the mobile identifier number includes preventing the lost/stolen mobile device from accessing the communication network. The method includes storing the suspended mobile identifier number in an equipment identity registry database. The method further includes turning OFF Wi-Fi access, in the mobile device, in response to suspending the mobile identifier number by the server.

  • Publication number: 20170148080
Abstract: A customer is provided with a personalized retail experience using a retail kiosk or mobile device that is enabled for near-field communication (NFC). The kiosk is provided with customer identifying information through an NFC-based communication with a customer's user device. The kiosk authenticates the customer based on the identifying information, retrieves retail information associated with the customer from a back-end server, and provides the personalized retail experience using the retrieved information. In one example, the personalized retail experience is provided based on customer-input received through an NFC reader of the kiosk. Also, the mobile device can be provided with a retail store identifier through an NFC-based communication link with an NFC tag for the store. The personalized retail experience can then be provided through the mobile device based on retail information for the retail store that is retrieved by the mobile device based on the identifier obtained through NFC.

  • Patent number: 9654940
Abstract: A device may receive a text message or a multimedia message to be received by a receiving device. The message may be stored by one or more storage devices. The device may determine that the message is to be received by the receiving device via a wireless local area network (WLAN). The device may send, to the receiving device, a notification associated with the message. The device may identify a storage device, of the one or more storage devices, to provide the message to the receiving device. The device may manage a synchronization between the receiving device and the storage device via the WLAN. The synchronization may cause the message to be received by the receiving device. The device may receive an indication that the receiving device has received the message, and may provide closure information. The closure information may prevent the message from being delivered via a cellular network.

  • Patent number: 9647935
Abstract: A server device may store inter-layer quality of service (“QoS”) information, indicating a set of link layer QoS levels that are associated with a particular device, a set of network layer QoS levels that are associated with the set of link layer QoS levels, and a set of MPLS QoS levels that are associated with the set of link layer QoS levels. A network device may establish a set of bearers, that correspond to the set of link layer QoS levels, with a particular device; output information regarding the set of network layer QoS levels that are associated with the set of link layer QoS levels, to allow the particular device to select a bearer, of the set of bearers, via which to output traffic to the network device; receive, from the particular device, traffic via the bearer; and determine a particular MPLS QoS level associated with the received traffic.

  • Patent number: 9648110
Abstract: One or more devices are provided that receive a request, from a client device, to connect to an operator network. The request is received at a request time. The one or more devices obtain information identifying a connect time at which the client device is permitted to connect to the operator network and determine whether the request time matches the connect time. If the request time is determined to be different than the connect time, the one or more devices reject the request to connect to the operator network based on the request time being determined to be different than the connect time. If the request time is determined to match the connect time, the one or more devices establish a communication session between the client device and the operator network based on the request time being determined to match the connect time.

  • Patent number: 9648173
Abstract: Network status information is provided to a mobile device. The data usage of the mobile device is tracked. A data usage criterion is determined from an account for the mobile device. The account information is stored on at least one server. The data usage is compared with the data usage criterion. Based on the comparison, it is determined whether the data usage meets the data usage criterion. Upon determining that the data usage meets the data usage criterion, a notification message is sent to the mobile device in real time through an information element field within an existing message in a bearer channel of the wireless packet data communication network. The notification message may instruct the mobile device to prevent generation and/or transmission of automatic network access requests while allowing user-initiated network access requests.

  • Patent number: 9635524
Abstract: A mobile device pass through for signaling messages procedure allows smart devices to participate in and control multimedia communications by providing the ability to control multimedia communications to the smart device by the mobile device. A mobile device and a smart device establish a channel of communications between the mobile device and a web browser executing on the smart device, e.g. when both are connected to the same Wi-Fi access point. When the web browser accesses a web application that utilizes signaling messages to control multimedia content, the web browser will send signaling message requests to the mobile device. The mobile device, in turn, generates and forwards the signaling message. Media content is delivered directly to the smart device without passing through the mobile device or the established channel of communications.

  • Patent number: 9633316
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for classifying a record of data when the record of data does not contain class membership information. In one example, summary data is utilized with predictive modeling to predict the age range of a user of a line of service. A prior probability that a user within the summary data belongs to a respective class, a first conditional probability of a first predictor within the summary data and a second conditional probability of a second predictor within the summary data are calculated. For each record of data, a probability of class membership is calculated based on the calculated prior probability and the first and second conditional probabilities.

  • Patent number: 9635699
Abstract: A network device stores back-off definitions for different service categories of machine-type communications (MTC). The network device receives a service connection request originating from a wireless terminal and identifies the service connection request as a MTC request. The network device identifies an available bandwidth capacity for at least one portion of a network associated with the MTC request and determines, when the available bandwidth is below an admission threshold capacity, an admission control level for the MTC request. The admission control level is selected from a group of different admission control levels. The network device calculates a retry interval for the MTC request based on the determined admission control level for the MTC request and the available bandwidth capacity, and sends the retry interval with a response for the MTC request.
