  • Patent number: 11607628
Abstract: A sand handling system having, for example, one to three sand separators are configured to be operatively connected to a well and an inlet of a common dumping vessel. Advantageously, the dumping vessel has a sensor to measure an amount of sand in the dumping vessel and provide a signal to a programmable controller which is arranged to dump the dumping vessel when a specified amount of sand is in the dumping vessel. The system automates the sand handling process and also measures and records data associated with a number of flowback parameters. The data can then be used in well design to improve oil and/or gas production, lessen sand production, reduce well damage and/or equipment corrosion due to, for example, sand.

  • Publication number: 20230079004
Abstract: Provided in one embodiment is a continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polyethylene polymerization. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and/or polypropylene, and passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a pyrolysis oil and optionally wax comprising a naphtha/diesel and heavy fraction, and char. The pyrolysis oil and wax is passed to a refinery FCC unit from which a liquid petroleum gas C3-C5 olefin/paraffin mixture fraction is recovered. The liquid petroleum gas C3-C5 olefin/paraffin mixture fraction is passed to a refinery alkylation unit, with a propane and butane fraction recovered from the alkylation unit. The propane and butane fraction is then passed to a steam cracker for ethylene production.

Abstract: A continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polypropylene polymerization is provided. The process integrates refinery operations to provide an effective and efficient recycle process. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and polypropylene and then passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a naphtha/diesel fraction, a heavy fraction, and char. The naphtha/diesel fraction is passed to a refinery FCC unit, from which is recovered a liquid petroleum gas C3 olefin/paraffin mixture. The C3 paraffins and C3 olefins are separated into different fractions with a propane/propylene splitter. The C3 olefin fraction is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor.

  • Patent number: 11604909
Abstract: A computational stratigraphy model may be run for M mini-steps to simulate changes in a subsurface representation across M mini-steps (from 0-th subsurface representation to M-th subsurface representation), with a mini-step corresponding to a mini-time duration. The subsurface representation after individual steps may be characterized by a set of computational stratigraphy model variables. Some or all of the computational stratigraphy model variables from running of the computational stratigraphy model may be provided as input to a machine learning model. The machine learning model may predict changes to the subsurface representation over a step corresponding to a time duration longer than the mini-time duration and output a predicted subsurface representation. The subsurface representation may be updated based on the predicted subsurface representation outputted by the machine learning model.

  • Patent number: 11593575
Abstract: A computing system can include a radio transceiver and tracking manager software for tracking the location of objects such as tools. Radio frequency identification tags are attached to the objects and can communicate with the radio transceiver. During an initial registration process, the tracking manager software sends an initial registration signal to each object so that the object can be identified in a registered objects file. In one instance, the tracking manager software subsequently sends periodic interrogation signals to the objects to confirm that the objects are within a certain proximity. In another instance, after completing a task a worker can check-in each object wherein the tracking manager software sends interrogation signals to the objects to confirm that all of the objects are accounted for.

  • Patent number: 11591893
Abstract: Described herein are methods of treating fluid comprising hydrocarbons, water, and polymer being produced from a hydrocarbon-bearing formation are provided. The method can include adding a concentration of a viscosity reducer to the fluid to degrade the polymer present in the fluid and adding a concentration of a neutralizer to the fluid to neutralize the viscosity reducer in the fluid. The viscosity reducer is buffered at a pH of 7 or less (e.g., at a pH of from 2 to 7, such as at a pH of from 3.5 to 7, or at a pH of from 5 to 7). The addition of the concentration of the viscosity reducer is in a sufficient quantity to allow for complete chemical degradation of the polymer prior to the addition of the concentration of the neutralizer in the fluid such that excess viscosity reducer is present in the fluid.
