Abstract: The invention comprises retrofit kits for power impact tools. The retrofit kits adapt modular control apparatuses to power impact tools that where not originally manufactured to receive a modular control apparatuses. The retrofit kits comprise a modular control apparatus and at least one fastener. The modular control apparatus may be specially manufactured to adapt retrofit tools or an adapter may be included in the kit. Adapters intercept the energy flow to the motor of the tool and re-channels the energy flow through a modular control apparatus, which then controls the flow of energy to the motor. The retrofit kit may include instruction sheets describing and illustrating the methods of using the retrofit kit.
Abstract: The invention comprises a power impact torque tool that is torque-limited by a novel torque-timing device that controls the amount of time that the tool motor operates after the operator initiates tool operation. The invention also includes the torque-timing device itself and with other tools. The invention further includes the torque-timing device in the form of a modular, releasably-attachable, user-adjustable control apparatus for tools powered by compressable fluids. The torque-time-limiting device allows the user to adjust a needle valve that controls the filling of a reservoir which, when full, provides the pressure required for actuating a shut-off valve.
Abstract: Disclosed is a reciprocating pneumatic tool including first, second and third piston retaining mechanisms for preventing the piston from freely exiting the barrel of the tool when the retaining sleeve and workpiece are removed. The retaining mechanisms are located within the lower portion of the tool barrel, and do not interfere with normal operation of the tool.
Abstract: A pneumatic tool apparatus, a pneumatic tool, and a method of making and using a pneumatic tool apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus has an inner torsion bar and an outer tube which has recesses which allow the apparatus to provide more torque in one direction of rotation than in the other direction of rotation.
Abstract: This invention relates generally to an impact tool. The present invention provides a vibration isolated impact tool wherein an impact mechanism and a motor assembly are arranged into a cartridge assembly. An elastomeric member resiliently connects the cartridge assembly with a housing. The cartridge assembly is free to move axially and rotationally within the housing. The elastomeric member absorbs axial vibration and torsional vibration, reducing the vibration transmitted to an operator.
