Abstract: An electric toothbrush that detects plaque on the teeth, ensures accurate plaque detection, and performs cleaning of plaque. The electric toothbrush may include a body having a gripping part and a stem with a brush unit detachably coupled to the body. The electric toothbrush may include a light emitting element for emitting light onto the tooth and a light receiving element for receiving light that reflects off of the tooth. A controller may be included to determine an amount of plaque on the tooth based on the amount of reflected light detected. The electric toothbrush may also include a fluid dispensing system that dispenses fluid based on the amount of reflected light detected. In some aspects, the electric toothbrush may operate in multiple oscillation modes, and it may only dispense fluid in some of the modes but not all of the modes.

Abstract: Personal care compositions and methods for treating or preventing lipid peroxidation of skin with the same are disclosed. The personal care composition may include a carrier and a surfactant system present in an effective amount to treat or prevent lipid peroxidation of skin. The surfactant system may include at least one amphoteric surfactant and at least one anionic surfactant. The method may include contacting the personal care composition with the skin and exposing the skin to pollution. Methods for formulation a personal care composition for treating or preventing lipid peroxidation of skin are also disclosed. The method may include determining an oxidation protection factor (OPF) of one or more components, using the OPF to select at least one component of the one or more components, and combining the at least one component of the one or more components with a carrier to form the personal care composition.

Abstract: An anhydrous personal care composition, comprising: (a) 45 to 60 weight % of at least one ester, selected from (i) triglycerides, (ii) diglycerides, (iii) monoglycerides, (iv) monoesters of diols, and (v) diesters of diols; (b) a first wax having a melting point of from 35° C. to 72° C. present in an amount of 5 to 25 weight %; (c) a second wax having a melting point of 73 to 90° C. present in an amount of 0.5 to 15 weight %; and (d) at least one plant oil having a saponification value of from 150 to 275 mg KOH/g present in an amount of 5 to 35 weight.

For each of the sample products, a value for each of one or more respective properties of the sample product may be received. The received values of the one or more respective properties of the sample products, the one or more received financial characteristics relating to the sample products, and a desired financial characteristic for a potential product may be input into the machine learning model. A value for each of the one or more respective properties for the potential product may be determined based on the desired financial characteristic for the potential product. A product having the determined value for each of the one or more respective properties for the potential product may be produced.

Abstract: An oral care implement having a handle, and a head having a main body that is coupled to the handle. The head may include a release component coupled to the main body. The release component may include a water-dissolvable matrix comprising a first polymer having a processing temperature greater than or equal to 150° C. The oral care implement may include a plurality of tooth cleaning elements. A method of forming an oral care implement which includes injection molding a composition comprising a graft polymer onto a head of an oral care implement at a temperature equal to or greater than 130° C. to form a water-dissolvable polymer matrix.

Abstract: A dispenser (10) for holding and dispensing consumable products (300). The dispenser may include a first component (100) having a storage cavity (103) containing a plurality of consumable products, a closer member (150) that closes an open end (104) of the storage cavity, and a second component (200) pivotably coupled to the first component for dispensing one of the consumable products at a time. The closure member has a dispensing aperture (160) so that one of the consumable products can fit therethrough and pass onto a cup-shaped member (250) of the second component. Then, the closure member can be altered from a closed state to an open state so that a user can remove the one of the consumable products from the cup-shaped member of the second component. A blocker arm (260) protrudes from the cup-shaped member to prevent additional ones of the consumable products from being dispensed when the second component is in the open state.

Abstract: A personal care implement having a handle which includes a first rigid portion, a second rigid portion, and an elastomeric portion located therebetween. The first and second rigid portions may have end portion with first and second tabs. The elastomeric portion has a front surface, a rear surface, and a peripheral surface that extends between the front and rear surfaces. A first groove may be formed between the first tab of the first rigid portion and the first tab of the second rigid portion. A second groove may be formed between the second tab of the first rigid portion and the second tab of the second rigid portion. A first portion of the peripheral surface of the elastomeric portion may form a floor of the first groove and a second portion of the peripheral surface of the elastomeric portion may form a floor of the second groove.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are oral care compositions comprising hemp seed oil and caprylyl glycol. In certain embodiments, the oral care composition optionally further comprises one or more ingredients selected from hyaluronic acid and aloe vera. Methods of making and using the compositions are also provided.

Abstract: Personal care compositions for improving the appearance and/or health of skin are provided herein. In accordance with an aspect, provided is a personal care formulation comprising an alpha hydroxy acid; a beta hydroxy acid; and polyhydroxy acid comprising gluconodeltalactone. According to another aspect, a personal care formulation is provided that comprises an alpha hydroxy acid; a beta hydroxy acid; and polyhydroxy acid, wherein the personal care formulation has a weight ratio of alpha hydroxy acid to polyhydroxy acid is about 5:1 to about 1:4, and wherein the personal care formulation has a weight ratio of beta hydroxy acid to polyhydroxy acid is about 1:1 to about 1:11.
