Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of cyanuric chloride moldings, particularly in rod or flake form. Cyanuric chloride melt is cooled in a pressure cell equipped with a die capable of strand formation, wherein solidification takes place in the channel or channels of the die. The solidified cyanuric chloride is pressed out of the die in strand form at a temperature of 140.degree. C. or less, preferably 40 to 60.degree. C., and reduced in size as required. The process reduces the sublimation which is otherwise conventional during solidification and cooling.

Abstract: A method and a device for producing aerosols highly charged with liquid phase and with small droplets by using ultrasonic transmitters in which an ultrasonic transmitter oscillates in a plane parallel to, or in an inclined plane of 1.degree. to 20.degree. relative to, the surface level of the liquid. When several transmitters are used in a compact unit, each transmitter is seated in a recess and each individual transmitter oscillates in a plane parallel to, or in a plane inclined at 1.degree. to 20.degree. relative to, the plane of the surface level of the liquid. The aerosols can be used as raw material for pyrolysis, coating, the doping of substances and in medicine.

Abstract: Preparation of 2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone diesters by rearrangement of 2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-2-ene-1,4-dione (4-oxo-isophorone, ketoisophorone) in the presence of a solid, acid catalyst and an acylating agent, for example carboxylic acid anhydrides or carboxylic acid halides. The 2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone diester may then optionally be saponified to the free 2,3,5-trimethylhydroquinone, which is a valuable building block in the synthesis of vitamin E.

Abstract: The phytotoxic action of too high a concentration of peroxygen compounds such as peroxycarboxylic acids and hydrogen peroxide in the combating of phytopathogenic microorganisms, such as fusaria, in the water systems of plant irrigation systems, especially greenhouses, can be eliminated. The water is treated with a peroxycarboxylic acid solution which is brought in contact with a solid decomposition catalyst for active-oxygen compounds before the water is used for irrigation, in order to reduce the content of peroxycarboxylic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The water contacts and flows through a fixed bed of decomposition catalyst, by trickling over it or flowing through the conduits of a monolithic block coated with a decomposition catalyst such as platinum, palladium or rhodium.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method of producing oxazolidinones of formula (I), wherein R.sup.1 -R.sup.5 have the meanings given in the description, by reacting cyclical anhydrides of formula (II) with carbonyl compounds of general formula (III) at temperatures between ambient temperature and approximately 150.degree. C. The invention also concerns the production of the cyclical anhydrides of formula (II) by reacting N-protected aminodicarboxylic acids of formula (IV) with a dehydrating agent in situ. The invention further concerns the use of oxazolidinones of formula (I) for the .alpha.-selective production of esters of formula (V) and amides of general formula (VII).

Abstract: A process for the production of primary and/or secondary amines from imines or nitriles, comprising an aminating hydrogenation of imine or of nitrile with hydrogen in the presence of ammonia, of a hydrogenation catalyst based on cobalt, nickel, ruthenium or mixtures of these metals and of a base, at a temperature within the range of 50.degree. C. to 200.degree. C. and at a pressure within the range of 0.3 to 30 MPa. The yield of amine is increased by the use of a quaternary ammonium hydroxide as base. Preferably a tetraalkylammonium hydroxide is used in a quantity of from 0.01 to 100 mMol per mol of amine or of nitrile. The process is suitable in particular for the production of isophoronediamine from isophorone nitrile imine.
